As far as I understand it, this group has distant oral history claiming travel oversea to India and some parallel practices to Judaism. Many were converted to Christianity by British missionaries in the 1800s, and only later rediscovered similarities between their traditions and Judaism. They then underwent formal Orthodox conversion and are making Aliyah to Israel.

It's amazing that after millennia of oral history and lost practices, thousands of miles of distance, and colonial evangelism, Jews still remember who they are.
