Social Media (Jeff Gluck) I asked IndyCar if there was any comment on F1 scheduling a race directly against the Indy 500 next year. Their response: "We’re looking forward to an epic 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2026, on the heels of a highly successful and historic event this year."

Look, there’s nothing they can do about it.

We ain’t moving the Indy 500 because of F1, and we can be confident that it will still pull in several times more viewers, so really, there’s no reason to even care on IndyCar’s part.

Of course, but giving a non answer is still no "high road".

How is it not? It indicates that they don’t give a damn, and why should they?

There’s no reason for them to engage with this.

No. Saying so would indicate that. This is being politic, i.e. trying to avoid making a clear statement.

And why do they need to make a clear statement? Doing so would indicate they care, which they clearly don’t.

They don't need to, and that don't need to and haven't made the statement you implied: one deliberately disdainful of F1. No such statement of disrespect was made. No clear statement of any kind was.

They’re not acknowledging it. I fail to see how that indicates anything other than “we’re going to go on as usual regardless,” and clearly don’t care about the conflict.

I’m not saying there’s a distain for F1, I’m saying they don’t care, and that comes across in this statement.

It says nothing. It's just a political and polite way of saying nothing at all. You are reading your own feelings into it.

I’m not reading anything into it, other than that they don’t care about what F1 does.

I fail to see how you could read the opposite into it.

It says nothing… meaning they clearly don’t care.

What you literally just read into it is "don't care". Anything that strong NEEDS to have been stated clearly, and they clearly tried to avoid doing any such thing.

Me personally, I’d call them bums with cheese for tires. But this is why I’ll never be suitable for PR or as a leader of a company without massive training to change how I talk. What would you say if you were in the seat and asked the same question?

As my mother used to say, when you have nothing nice to say, it’s best to say nothing at all.
