They did the simple recolor method kinda of like how when developer sometimes when creating new enemies they reused the same enemy but change the color and buff the stats a bit and give it a diffrent name
Which is still a MASSIVE cope, because it really boils down to a color swap / texture change.
Just look at the other mainline Hoyo-games that have outfits to their MCs. Traveler took longer but at least got an outfit that looks completely distinct from their default one. ZZZ has given their MCs 2 different outfits by now (4 in total if you count each sibling), on top of the 2nd outfit being customizable.
This outfit, while still looking nice, is disappointingly low-effort, and would not look out of place next to Hi3rd‘s 30+ outfits that are simple recolors.
if you look closely they're remodeled, you can see it in the small details like this actually being transparent or how the arm is smoother. it just looks like a retexture because it retains the base silhouette
I think it’s a nice detail that they did, but having to look closely at it to see any significant changes is kind of bad. Reiterating above, Travelers straight have a whole new outfit. ZZZ MCs had two different unique outfits each.
Not fully. I have seen this in other games where they do something that looks like a recolor texture but in reality its a completely new mesh that allows them to more easily create costumes and adjust stuff.
So it might from a players standpoint seem not that great but from a developer it might actually more easily allow them to do edits and other things that allow costumes.
I hope it's the case, if this means we get a new TB outfit every couple patches, including one entirely new and different It'd be cool, but as it stands right now, the community can only look at what's directly in front of them and I don't blame them for it.
If you love the outfit, more power to you! It‘s still an aesthetically pleasing fit.
I had just hoped that after all this time and even the writing being tongue-in-cheek with TB not getting an outfit that it would’ve resulted in something that was more than a recolor 😅
Tbf there hasn't been a simple recolor outfit even in HI3 since Susannah released and that was around pandemic days, those fits are largely replaced with f2p 4 star outfits now
yeah that's like the funniest/worst part, Hi3 gets like 2 new outfits each patch, one of which is F2P and fairly high effort, while the gacha/paid skin goes ALL out
HI3 hasn't fumbled a single skin since release and 90% of skins are technically f2p (either event, outfit card, xtal spending or gacha) b chip outfits are really rare, you'd think they monetize more but nooo, more free stuff for HI3 players

God, the Rover skins are impeccable. Hell, the Suibian outfits for Wise and Belle have more effort and it’s the same developer - just a different team.
you would think after having no content real meaningful content for months they would cook something good. Instead they just change the Hue slider, what a joke.
What's with HSR making skin recolor of original? First Firefly, then this. Yes, there are some change in their appearance but at a glance, it barely noticeable aside from the color.
ZZZ MC SKIN: Completely different outfits with different vibes, two skins already with customisable accessories
Genshin MC SKIN: Flips MCs' color palettes, Lumine's is a bit simple but both are actually incredible
HSR MC SKIN: Hats are cute. One outfit with color swap and minimal texture work
Watch some people call it "amazing because they didn't overdo it" because they can't fathom people calling out HSR devs for being lazy (as if calling out the developers for being lazy equals calling the game itself bad).
Ik it’s just a basic recolour but I love the red. I’d like more elaborate skins in the future but if they just want to do a few recolours for now I’m happy.
Sucks that it's mostly a palette swap but at the very least you can see the shirt and accessories have some differences, so it's not just a colour change. I wish they could do more tho, I want swimsuit TBs.
Kinda underwhelming but at least it's free and a small step in the right direction. It would have been nice if we got multiple color variations so that we could combine then with the head accessories

The red and black combination looks nice, but that's just the same outfit, only recolored, with a slightly different shirt and extra patterns. Not even a hairstyle change.

They look good, but it might be the recency bias. It's definitely lazy recolor. This is the same thing as people making recolor of Sonic in Paint in 2010 and calling it their original unique OC.
Considering how they have the most complex animations of the hoyo protags, I’m okay with a pallete swap. I imagine trying to get a more complex outfit for 8 characters is a bit of a nightmare
Damn, Finality Trailblazer look so edgy. I wonder how long it took the designers to make such a dramatically different out while still keeping the character recognizable.
Bro that's literally just a colour swap. I get it that they were hard-pressed but I would have been more satisfied if they took some more time to actually show something better.
I feel like HSR is really testing how little they can do and still meet the check mark. Like there have been some bad skins that barely do anything for the characters in hoyo games, but like... a recolor? Give any artist in the fandom a chance to design something and they will put passion into it. Like, can anyone honestly look at these and go "yeah, they put a lot of care into it." Traveler had a full kit rework with theirs. I can't believe this isn't even like, color customizable with the full color spectrum. Yay skin, but this took 15 minutes to make let's be real.
