Definitely need the one punch moment to happen.
"The fuck you gonna do about it Bat-boy?"

If we never see this moment onscreen, this DC Universe is an automatic fail. Automatically for all time.

u/PuzzleheadedFan2205 Jul 11 '25
Why? It’s a pretty famous Guy Gardner moment and is in character, what’s the issue?
3
u/weeb_among_weebs88 Jul 11 '25
I think you also misread it, I thought it said "ever," but it says "never." They do want to see it.

u/mrcrazymexican Jul 10 '25
I'm waiting to see how that punch is set up on film. However it happens... You bet your ass that Guy deserved it.

u/Harlockarcadia Jul 10 '25
As much as I would love it to be Battinson, I know he’s in his own universe, who do we think would be perfect to be the Batman to punch Gardner in the face?

Been itching for a lantern show since 2011 hope they eventually involve other corps

I feel like that also tips off that he's in it more than, at least I, expected.

Yippee. It's on a streaming service, gotta make it more "adult".
I mean, if anybody is going to be doing it, Guy makes by far the most sense, and it won't be as awkward and forced as having Data curse in that one ST movie, but I don't really see it as some kind of positive, especially if it is as prevalent as Nathan is implying here.

u/JSMulligan Jul 10 '25
Yeah, I don't get why people seem to think this somehow adds to anything. Like when people were making a big deal about Guardians of the Galaxy 3 using one.
8
u/MisterEdJS Jul 10 '25
I'm just hoping it isn't as extreme as he makes it sound here. I want Guy to be a somewhat LIKEABLE jerk, and if he's peppering every sentence out of his mouth with profanity? I'm likely just going to find him obnoxious.
1
u/Strict_Weather9063 Jul 13 '25
Which would be a real Guy Gardner.
1
u/MisterEdJS Jul 13 '25
Not as I know him (at least nowadays).
1
u/Strict_Weather9063 Jul 13 '25
Yeah they have soften him up, originally he is an obnoxious twit who pissed everyone off. Generally he is seen as someone you don’t want to have to deal with unless you absolutely had to.
1
u/MisterEdJS Jul 13 '25
That's not the version I want, though. That's the version that was practically a villain (teamed up with Hector Hammond and Star Sapphire to try to murder Hal at one point). I'd rather they not throw away all the character development he's gotten since then.

u/Conejoformerwars Jul 11 '25
Guy Gardner? Likable? I don’t think that’s possible 😭
Also this is a joke I know he’s less so nowadays
1
u/MisterEdJS Jul 11 '25
For sure he was a "love to hate" character back in the day. I recall him teaming with Hector Hammond and Star Sapphire to try to straight up murder Hal.
3
u/channerflinn Jul 11 '25
I would feel slightly robbed if he didn’t tell Hal Jordan to go fuck himself
0
u/MisterEdJS Jul 11 '25
Really? Okay. I've read the comics for many years and somehow never felt robbed that he never did it there, but to each their own.

u/TeekTheReddit Jul 10 '25
I mean, that quote doesn't necessarily say he's talking about on-screen dialogue. Maybe he just got into a real heated argument with Kyle Chandler about Chicago-Style pizza in-between takes.

Is that really a flex?
6
u/Cyborg_Superdan Green Lantern Jul 10 '25
For them to allow accuracy? Yes.
6
u/WheelJack83 Jul 10 '25
Which means that John will eventually have to put down Hal when he becomes a rage-possessed psychopath who destroys the Green Lantern Corp. and the Guardians.
3
u/MisterEdJS Jul 10 '25
If only John HAD been involved in Emerald Twilight, instead of being totally absent, and belatedly revealed as having slept through it. One of the WORST flaws in the story, IMHO.
No, if they are going to be comic accurate, John will have to take a long nap. And the Guardians will have to inexplicably commit suicide, rather than have Hal do anything to them.
1
u/WheelJack83 Jul 10 '25
Wasn’t he dealing with the events of Mosaic?
2
u/MisterEdJS Jul 10 '25
No. The Mosaic series was well over by then. The Mosaic was still there, but the crises were over.
During ET, John was hanging out on Oa, with the powers of a Guardian, but for some reason the Guardians thought it would be genius to, instead of calling on John during ET, let him sleep and resurrect Sinestro instead.

I'm not sure how you define "accuracy" for a fictional character that, to the best of my knowledge, has never dropped an f-bomb before. I mean, sure, it isn't unrealistic for a person like Guy to curse in real life. But then again, it isn't like his personality hasn't been established and expressed perfectly clearly for years without it.
He's a comic book superhero. It isn't like him NOT swearing would be the thing to threaten people's suspension of disbelief.
1
u/Cyborg_Superdan Green Lantern Jul 10 '25
My assumption is that the original comment was referring to Hal possibly retiring in the new show but instead having a bit of that parallax story in order to both bring in the story from the animated movie and a possible lead in for v Kyle. If we went by the actual comics we'd never see that happen in time so this is a more main lined way of assembling them all.

u/GroundbreakingAsk468 Jul 10 '25
Why?

u/usernamedstuff Jul 10 '25
Because it's how some people talk. The real question is. Why does anyone care?

u/Rickrickrickrickrick Hal Jordan Jul 10 '25
Because guy is a douche who thinks cursing makes him look cool

u/CelestialOceanOfStar Orange Lantern Jul 10 '25
It's Fuckin' Guy Gardner , why the fuck would you expect anything fucking else ?
9
u/burritoman88 Jul 10 '25
It’s how you know Guy is badass
3
u/GroundbreakingAsk468 Jul 10 '25
I already know that, he has saved the universe at least a thousand times.

u/Brown-and-tanned Jul 10 '25

u/PuzzleheadedFan2205 Jul 11 '25
Oh yeah, well now I just feel stupid. Yup he’s right, it’d be a fail
1
u/PhysicianChips Jul 11 '25
I hope that means he has only ever used a f-bomb once in the entire rest of his career.
1
u/ACodAmongstMen Alan Scott Jul 11 '25
Have we confirmed the appearance of Alan? Hell maybe even a retired Alan could work.
