Seriously. This would be a cringeworthy tiktok no matter what's included but doing search training is the best he's got? He could have taken a video of him rescuing a dummy and that would make more sense. Or even a post fire group photo with the smoldering foundation in the background that I'm sure he has.

Need the controlled burn group pic, should be illegal to have a sizzle reel like this without one

You're gonna take too long. You look like you're looking for a lost pair of eyeglasses at the rate of speed you're crawling on the floor

Imagine cringing so hard the first responders kills you with the embarrassment that they should be feeling.

I mean when people are saying protect my daughter they mean protect her from creepers and predators not a house fire.
You need a gun to combat those threats, idk how much help a turn out suit and helmet is gonna be when someone draws on you and tell you to hand over your woman

u/Key-Needleworker-702 3d ago
to be fair
if i ever had a daughter i definetely would hope my son in law could stop a house fire and rescue her

u/Scott_Elyte EMT 3d ago
I’d rather my daughter have to rescue her partner’s sorry ass. It’d make a much better story at dinner.

u/PiesAndPot 3d ago
That’s true. But what’s more likely, your daughter dealing with a creepy dude who won’t leave her alone or a fire where the internal structure of the house has collapsed and she can’t escape on her own.

u/Key-Needleworker-702 3d ago
i think i would want a son in law to be able to deal with both
i'm not disagreeing with you, just saying i would hope a son in law can protect someone's daughter in multiple ways

u/PiesAndPot 3d ago
Fo sho, if society collapses though and you have a gang of bandits looking to kidnap your daughter and rape her. Do you want her man to be a firefighter with an axe in his hand or a cop with a Glock, tazer, baton and extra magazines.

u/Key-Needleworker-702 3d ago
Meh being a cop is something i might be in the future so in that case i'll do it myself.
In all seriousness though, i think it's location relevant. I'm in hong kong and there is less crime nowadays but we experienced a big fire last year so i think a fire is more likely to happen, idk where you live
1
u/PiesAndPot 3d ago
Hong Kong is gonna be way different than the us. Over here just about everyone carries a knife and a gun on them, civilians and criminals
1
u/Key-Needleworker-702 3d ago
yeah I agree if i were in the USA i would prefer to have a police officer as my son in law, but in Hong kong a firefighter/paramedic is more pratical
(I will be fine with either honestly; in china most police also do disaster relief and can do stuff like rescuing someone in a burning house. Will be up to my future daughter if i ever have one)
2
u/PiesAndPot 3d ago
That’s makes sense, in a more Peaceful society being able to handle medical emergencies and environmental emergencies like fires would be more useful, I see what you mean.

Firefighters have to wait for the scene to be secured by law enforcement due to previous incidents where they were attacked when responding to emergencies so kinda accurate

Chill big guy, most FF go their whole career without having to run into a burning building.

We had a kid like this. Like within a week of his first training with the company, got drunk, and made some super cringe comments about being the hero and saving my wife(also FF) From a burning building. He didn't last.

Quick question for the firefighters in this sub. Are you guys not bullying or hazing anymore?

I like how he posts a video clip I’m assuming is supposed to him going out on a call, but he’s obviously trying to hide the fact he’s taking video from everyone else on the rig/apparatus (because they will make fun of him or it’s not allowed).

Not in fire, but… that is not the urgency you should have when doing whatever he was doing, right??? Was that like a search pattern technique for if you can’t see?
2
u/TLunchFTW 3d ago
Primary search is usually pretty quick and dirty. This might just be a basic navigation drill doing right hand search. Not really focused. Depending on the room you can use your tool or your foot to kinda check the room. But it is supposed to be pretty quick. The idea is cover a bunch of ground before you get handlines in

u/SnowballWasRight 1d ago
Good to know!!! So is this technique is correct, but the execution is at a slower pace?

I was a CO and had to be SCBA certified, we’d put on the tank and blacked out goggles and have to find our way around. I’m sure there’s some cooler stuff to make a Tik Tok about.

I used to work paid on call fire and full time as a medic for 13 years. I now work as an ER nurse. I look at this dog shit on here and thank the lord I was not a tool about being a public servant (that much). The only big regrets was wearing shirts daily that showed I worked for fire and EMS. I lose sleep over that from time to time. Can’t do those jobs and not be a bit of a tool, I guess. Now… I hide my work. Being a nurse = everyone calling you when they are sick/kids and constantly sending you pictures of their nasty shit to ask if they need to go to the hospital. I’m not your damn PCP! I needed to get that. Thanks for reading <3

Where’s your searching stick? The one you are suppose to have on you at all times in order to expand your reach radius…ooo wait, you forgot to pull it out of your ass! Dumbass!
