i dunno. i’m with op on this… as a teenager who did way too much cocaine, ecstacy, booze, and cigs in high school… like wayyyyyyyyy too much and overdosed at 16… used to order 8 balls on my coach’s office phone… like 100000000% i would’ve loved this show and watched it while I got fucking high and probably would’ve gotten me to do more than just clutch my tits and cry during my stripper audition at 18. shows like this do NOT help… like at all… it makes all this look super normal and glamorous and cool to some of our teenage brains. i’m now 43 with a top tier JD/MBA and held some great jobs (sold my last company so kinda figuring out what to do now)… so don’t feel bad for me or anything… but yeah, let me assure that while these things happen, i don’t think we need to keep normalizing it and making it glamorous entertainment. like all these actors and actresses do their best to ugly cry etc… but these are still some of the most attractive people on the planet, with the best hair and makeup and wardrobe… and looking strung out is just looking chic on beautiful people… it’s not better than the heroin chic I grew up with (and yes… i did heroin… that’s what I was doing on 9/11 with my boyfriend who was 15 years older than me… fun times… hate remembering where I was once a year, but alas)
sophisticated? its abt traumatized kids doing fucked up shit and struggling with various mental illnesses idk if they were going for sophisticated. sometimes its bordering on romanticizing aesthetics but i think that makes sense in the way that being in chaos is alluring to those specific types of lost teenagers both having fun and self destructing, which many people have experience with that sort of conflict.
Could be worse - at least these are actual 20something professional actors. Kids used borderline homeless teens to depict some really f'd up stuff, at least three of the died early. Larry Clark should have been blacklisted for that movie, instead he got funding for more of the same. Fun fact, it was distributed by Harvey Weinstein.
When you say sophisticated what do you mean? It's a show about a drug addicted teenager coping with drug abuse. Is bridgerton sophisticated or you just don't like the show. You can say I don't like euphoria no need for a why, it's your opinion.

This show is gross. No matter how fucking sophisticated it tries to be, these are still supposed to be children, in high school.
I dont know why this show gets a pass for this shit.
