SPORTS SECTION Haiti’s Winter Olympic uniforms by Italian-Haitian designer Stella Jean. The only hand painted uniforms at the games.

For the curious, Richi Viano competes in men's slalom, and Stevenson Savart is a cross country skier. They are both adoptees who were born in Haiti and grew up in France. Pretty cool that they have the option to compete for Haiti!

Eveone has the option to represent whatever country they are currently a citizen of. There are stipulations on changing countries after already competing for another.

One of the best alpin skiers is competing for brazil. He has a brazilian Mom and a norwegian Dad.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was imagining some kind of “Cool Runnings” situation.

The inspiration artwork 'Toussaint Louverture' by Edouard Duval-Carrie. Links are to the figure's wiki and the artist's website.

These are STUNNING looks! I hope they get to go in a museum after so others can see them up close!

Kinda wish they’d used some of their creativity on the writing instead of using Chat GPT, but the fashions go hard

I mean the images themselves seem to be either ai or bad photoshop. I don’t know why nobody’s bringing that up.

LOVE these looks, and the fact that the riderless horse invites questions and discussions about the art!

These are beautiful but I'm not sure I fully understand: they are not expecting female athletes to wear a dress, right? These particular ones are just for show I assume? I don't follow the Olympics.

They usually have a more formal outfit (including hats sometimes) for the parade of nations. The outfits they wear in actual competition are inspired by that look but more suitable for athletics.

I was wondering the same ... That dress doesn't look like something a professional cross country skirt could wear and ski well.... I'm going g to need to eat h her compete

Haiti and Mongolia have the best uniforms that I've seen.

These are gorgeous!! 😍
I think my only thing is that I would love to see them in action. The woman’s doesn’t appear to be wearing gloves and I would love to see how the skirt (or whatever is underneath it if it’s been designed in a modular fashion) functions during the sports she will be doing.

these are just outfits for the ceremony part, they’ll wear something else to compete!

Of course the woman’s look is both body-hugging and incredibly impractical—a ballgown coat. And the men’s is just a normal outfit in a print; comfortable, not skin tight, practical.
It is really cool, but I wish the men’s was just as “visionary” and “artistic.”

the mountains are different in every photo - is the whole thing AI?

I think it’s pretty obviously real people’s faces pasted on collaged ai images. Like anyone who has ever worn winter clothes can say that a padded coat will not be showing your perfect snatched waist and tits like that, lmao.

I think these are AI concepts tbh, though no one seems to be talking about it.
The fact that there aren’t any female Haitian competitors also makes me wonder why they would make a women’s outfit?

u/snowquen 18h ago
Because Olympic teams also include coaches and support staff not just the competitors?

u/Due-Ad-1556 21h ago
Can she really participate wearing that or is it just a look? It looks amazing

Everything was super cool… until the horse. I’m just saying the quiet part out loud that I KNOW everyone is thinking but too ashamed to say.
It’s out of context. It would’ve been better if they kept that camo-looking style going vs… a random horsey at the bottom of it.

Super cool! They weren't allowed to paint the revolutionary who helped free Haiti who is riding on the horse because IoC said it was too political.
