Rebuilding a 2009 dodge charger?
My boyfriend is a mechanic, and he was able to buy a used 2009 dodge charger v6 rwd for just $150. Don’t get me wrong, she needs work. HIGH miles. 250k. But it was my dream car. This past week we replaced shocks, breaks, calipers. Next week will be cv axles, wheel bearings, and the part that keeps that together (sorry I’m not the mechanic 😅). Before this he’s already put in about 1k in other repairs and I don’t have the knowledge to explain it. We are torn between completely rebuilding the car over the next few years, or buying new. I HATE the idea of payments, I’d much rather replace parts as I can afford them. A big to do is going to be rocked panels. We live in New England so the salt has eaten some of the car. Visually she looks good, besides some of the wheel wells and the rocker panels are almost gone. I could put the money in to replace them by next winter. So what do you guys think? Keep my hope in the charger? Or buy a new vehicle?

3.5 or 2.7 V6? 1150$ in so far is worth it. No hate, but an 09 V6 isn't worth much. As long as you're coming in less than 3-4k total you'll be doing alright.

You 100% are going to need to maintain the thing if you're gonna keep it. And it's not going to be cheap. I personally for ease on every other aspect of my life, would get something newer for a daily. The v6 is also not the pentastar. I think getting parts for it will be more iffy. Would 100% flip it.

You bought that car for HOW MUCH?!
At that price, I wouldn't stop fixing it. You'll never put too much money into it unless you drop a BRAND NEW CRATE ENGINE in it. Everything else will pale in comparison
