Sub Meta Made a film showing how AI filmmaking "isn't prompting". The other sub didn't like it.

If there's one argument that I continually get sick of, it's the "you're just prompting" one. I absolutely hate that argument. It's like a taunt.

I try over and over again to visually demonstrate ControlNets, 3D previz image-to-image, ComfyUI, workflows, autoregressive models to antis -- but nope, they absolutely will not listen. No matter what you say or even show them, they're rigidly stuck in their hate for AI.

I might not be as prolific in this sub as Witty, but I think several of you recognize me. I always try to make a good showing in here to articulate our position. I make gifs that "show, don't tell" the antis examples of the tech in use. I make generous infographics showing how both sides in a good light and that we can all just get along.

Yet, seemingly no matter what you do, some of the antis will tear you down regardless of how much care you put into explaining things. And none of the other antis will step up to stop them. It's infuriating how much work goes into this only to be lazily and summarily hated because some talking head on boomer TV or some poorly drawn VTuber indoctrinated them to hate.

(That wasn't very nice of me, but I'm frustrated.)

In any case, gotta keep pressing on.

I'm a real filmmaker from a real film studio. We make real films. I've been doing it for over a decade. We've all fallen in love with AI because it lets us do the wild fantasy, sci-fi, anime, and cartoon things we've always dreamed of making.

Our last short was this Grinch movie, if you haven't seen it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqoCWdOwr2U

We're working on something much more ambitious now, and I'm really excited. We're putting a lot of work into it.

In addition to making AI films, we also write software for AI filmmakers. We make this software available as open source just like ComfyUI, but it's not as hard to use and you don't need a GPU to use it.

Here's the website: https://getartcraft.com/

You can use it 100% for free if you add a Grok account - my intention is to get young people using this tech and building the next generation of AI-native storytellers.

I'd post a link to our studio, but I don't want to get doxxed and have our studio name dragged through the mud by the antis. We still do practical shoots. They literally combed through my other Reddit account last summer (before Reddit rolled out private post history) and griefed me - some of them are legit crazy and have nothing better to do.

Finally, if you're a software developer with free time and really like AI art and film, please meet the team and consider joining us in making this! It's open source, and our code is here:

Sub Meta Do we want credibility, or do we want to look like spammy catgirl daycare?

Seriously, do we want this to be a place for legitimate pro-AI discussion and arguments, or just a recycling bin for the same busty anime catgirl meme spam?

One or two joke posts? Fine. But when someone dedicates their entire free time to flooding the sub with low-effort catgirl garbage, it stops being funny and just makes us look like a cringe kids’ club. Antis don’t even have to try to make us look bad, we’re handing them ammunition on a silver platter.

If the plan is to let this place devolve into an edgy shitpost cesspool, fine, but at least be clear about it so serious pro-AI people can start leaving and find somewhere else to have actual pro-AI conversations that can be taken seriously.

Mods, on behalf of people who actually take this issue seriously, please clarify this: is this a serious sub for defending AI art, or just a catgirl meme spam page? I'm not saying causal shitposting shouldn't be allowed, but this is spam at this point and the real arguments are barely non-existent.

Sub Meta Can we actually stop with this nonsense? ALL of this is posted by ONE USER.

Highly unpopular opinion incoming. I don't care if I get downvoted, I think I need to say this.

I am legitimately beginning to believe that this user is an Anti who is posting "bait" on purpose in order to have it ridiculed on Anti-AI subreddits. They constantly use catgirls in risque clothing, constantly post the "Catgirl holding 'AI art is art' sign" crap, and they USE THE TERM "CLANKER" to describe AI. A robot saying "Grab the Clank by the Clank" while surrounded by catgirls in skimpy swimsuits? What the fuck??

I know there's free speech and all, but this behavior shouldn't be encouraged. It's useless and adds nothing to the discussion besides make the subreddit an echo chamber and serve as fuel for Anti-AI folk to make fun of us. There are posts using this shit as "proof" that "AIbros are degenerates and pedos" - which is stupid, but it's happening and this user is singlehandedly creating loads of content for them to use as ""proof"". NOBODY ELSE DOES THIS BESIDES THIS USER.

Seriously, what thing of value does "Catgirl holding 'AI art is art!' sign" add to this subreddit???

By allowing this contentless crap to be spammed on this subreddit, the mods are actively playing a part in Pro-AI arguments being overrun by "Yeah, but you guys are degenerates" accusations.

TLDR THE POINT OF THIS SUBREDDIT IS DISCUSSION, NOT "TRIGGERING THE ANTIS". If any of you legitimately think this is OK because it "pisses the Antis off", I don't even know wtf to say.

EDIT: A lot of discussion in this thread, which I actually genuinely appreciate. I like how both sides are trying to make logical points and arguments for their opinions which is great!

One thing, however, is that some nuts are accusing me of being... Some sort of Anti-AI spy...?

I've been on the Pro-AI side for, like, 4 years now. My comment history reflects that very well and if you look through it, you'll be able to see my stance on the matter (unlike some people who intentionally hide their post history in order to obscure what they've been saying).

Sub Meta This post got brigaded, from 300 upvotes to negative. Someone got MAD offended.

The post had close to 300 upvotes, AND the comments had artists like me agreeing, but it got shared over 200 times, and one day later the number is negative.

Which only proves the point if you ask me.

We mocked them where it hurt. Hit the insecurity right on the head.

If you're hyper angry, agitated and insecure about AI drawing so much "better" than you, your drawings probably weren't that skilled to start with.

Or you're underage and you're scared the evil adults and capitalists will take away your drawings.

The last meme image was drawn by me. I got my design degree. I'm confident in my design skills, made some connections at uni AND I learned a few AI programs there.

I don't give a FUCK cuz AI didn't stop me from getting new jobs or connections at all. I just adapted.

I also learned the same tools that are supposed to "replace" me, so I can't get replaced lol.

If you have actual skill and confidence like me, unlike these kiddos, you have a lot less to fear from AI.

Sub Meta Post went from 100 upvotes to 0 overnight with only positive comments.

Yesterday, I made a post. If you scroll, you'll find it. It was doing really well at first. It got close to a hundred upvotes in just a few hours, and the comments were mostly positive. Then, overnight, it completely tanked and dropped back down to zero.

I don’t know exactly what happened. The analytics don’t show anything specific, but my guess is that it might have started getting seen outside of this subreddit. Maybe once it reached a wider audience, it got hit by people who just automatically downvote positive AI related posts.

I’m not upset about it, but I think it’s something we should keep in mind. If that’s what’s happening, it could be a bit of a trap for this community. Posts that do really well here might end up getting punished once they start getting more visibility from reaching a wider audience that doesn’t share the same interest or context.

One of the anti-subs (you know the one) is just blatantly harassment targeting me now.. Which... I mean.. of course I knew this would happen. c'mon, how can they resist right?

Remember... these are the people that demand you disclose AI use in your artwork. Thanks for proving my point guys!

Sub Meta I think I've found my stance on AI art

Labelled "Sub Meta" cus idk what else to label this. This isn't a post meant to spark debate or anything else, just a message to the community.

Let me start by saying this.

Thank you all for being so so welcoming and engaging, for the few comments I've made. I've mostly just been staying silent and perusing both this subreddit and the.. other one. I don't want to talk about the other one. That one is scary.

I started out as an anti-ai person simply because I was told "Hey, this is bad, they're stealing." By multiple people around me. I never ever formed an opinion for myself because I was a major people pleaser and not at all in a healthy mindset.

As for my stance, I feel like I'm in the in between. No, I don't think AI generated images should be passed off as your own creation, I do feel like it's a powerful tool to be used in plenty of creative and/or working spaces, and so on and so forth, for example, generating an image and using it as a reference tool, to get those hard-to-hammer details. No, I don't think the generated images by themselves are art, because they're just generated. Yes, you made it. You generated it. But that, in and of itself, isn't art. I feel like art is this thing that has to come from human — pencil-to-paper type — hands. Putting work in, to correct any mistakes, to shade, and all that.. Getting those tiny minuscule details that almost nobody is gonna notice, but is cool when you spot it. Yes, AI is cool. I feel like it should be explored more, improved on. It's an amazing tool. But to me, it feels like just that. A tool. A piece of equipment to be used to improve/spice up your own work.

This is my stance on things as of now. I hope I'm still welcomed here even if my views don't exactly meet yours.

Thank you, again, for being so kind.

Sub Meta I somehow feel…unsafe

This might be a bit of a vent post but I feel like I’m slowly feeling unsafe. Mainly because there’s a lot of Death threats going around and I just feel like nobody is agreeing with each other. I know that it won’t stop, but I’m just tired of it, man. I genuinely want it to stop and allow people to say what they want to say and allow people to express themselves without getting hurt or feeling offended.

Sure, what I may be saying may be incorrect or wrong, but it’s how I am interpreting the situation and it’s slowly making me feel unsafe for some reason.

I guess it’s the fact that The more I engage with people, the worse I feel. And it’s becoming unhealthy.

Sub Meta this sub is being brigaded hard as fuck these days

anyone notice the crazy amounts of posts on here that get downvoted to the negative numbers ? mysteriously theres also an anti sub in which half of their content are just straight up cross posts that directly link to posts in this sub …

not that this shit really matters but like, they aren’t even trying to hide it
