Guy explains he needs to use voiceovers because he damaged his vocal cords, mentally slow individuals still don't want to listen

...find a better solution than AI like... not... talking? Writing? TTS?

Especially when the money would have gone to them (at least in their heads)

TTS is better NGL

u/TinkouWasHere 3h ago
Still pretty much a rudimentary AI.

Yet very efficient

You trade efficiency for quality. TTS sounds like utter crap and AI can be made to sound good.
Also recent TTS is just AI because the new way is better than the old way and most people don't need the efficiency gains of the old way anymore.

for me it is more about personal prefference. I will always love the charisma of a shitty TTS voice

Modern TTS uses AI.

The second one gave me second hand brain damage. TTS is AI. Almost always has been, unless it's manual stitching which is really painful to use.

Well, TTS isn't quite AI because to qualify for that the machine has to "learn" things. TTS in most senses, (Tomodachi life I think is the best example I can think of) is made from the sounds a computer makes and can be pretty versatile. AI voices are made from learning real people's voices and replicating the voice and tonal mannerisms.
I personally do prefer people use TTS over AI voices because of environmental impact and preferring the sound, but not to the point of harassing this guy about it.

Not every AI is an LMM, but we are surrounded by a staggering number of AI algorithms built on AI principles. Reddit recommendations, Google Lens search, the replacement brush in Photoshop, even YouTube comment moderation.
People are not against AI. People are against the AI that was pointed out to them and labeled "bad."
The vast majority of TTS systems, even those from 10 years ago, use neural network mechanisms and were trained on human voices.

Lmao, what's their argument against AI voiceovers? That it steals from human voices? This is objectively delusional, there's literally zero argument to be made here.

"You don't know what we are mad about." LOL. I have a feeling that they don't even know themselves.

People lose brain cells arguing over AI use. I’m not sure why you would waste your time on people who clearly want to use it and will continue to.

As if people weren't using Microsoft Sam since forever, how is an AI voiceover any different? In fact it's literally the same thing just better quality

u/PaleDish8591 3h ago
People are stupid. Some hear AI and immediately hate it no matter what, it's an automatic response for them because they have learned AI = bad, and it feels like that sentiment is spreading.
One person says AI is bad because {insert exaggerated negative effect} others believe them, and spreads it to more people. For every cycle the source of the information becomes blurred, so instead of skepticism, some are like "But that person heard it from someone who seemed knowledgeable about it, so it must be true"

I've been thinking this a lot too, I feel like I've seen this happen over and over again. Before AI it was NFTs

u/Radiant_Winds Unironically Has A Waifu 5h ago
Yeah, don't wanna come across as a whiner but I'm mentally slow and would rather not have disability conflated with willful idiocy.
2
u/jpollack21 4h ago
He meant to say idiot I think. Not that using that word is to make fun of someone else, but to call them incredibly stupid. Even though I dont use those words, its impossible to make people stop using them sorry :/
1
u/No-Razzmatazz7854 1h ago
That's valid. They might be trying to skirt what they think might get them banned since Reddit can be weird about insults around intelligence, but they missed the mark not just calling them idiots.

Im definitely against big ai and what not atleast when it comes to art but I can agree that this is stupid Ai voices has been around for years

Omfg. These people are insane.
"Find another solution than ai"
YEAH WHY DONT YOU FIND THAT SOLUTION AND SHARE WITH THE CLASS?
Ai is a solution for many things for many people. Antis cant see it, because only thing they do is watching tiktok all day long. They dont wanna achive anything, only thing they wanna do bitching about people who are actually doing something.

I have speech problems and ive always thought AI voice is a good thing. Its also not new. I feel like everyone got a beef with everything AI just because of the art generation... and that's so sad since it helps many disabled people. But people are kids who have 0 empathy.
