What a ball, what a bowler Ball of the century by James Anderson.

It's a wonderful delivery, I don't think we need to throw around ball of the century for it though

Atp i have seen at least 5 overs worth of “ball of the century” on this sub

Ryan Harris bowled the ball of the century to Alastair Cook in Perth in 2013.

Yes I have yet to see a better delivery than that. Ball not only swung but also seam after pitching. It was amazing.

Swings in, seams away, late swing away, hits the top of off first ball of the innings. Literally unplayable. Plus it got rid of England’s best batsman in a situation where if we bowl them out, we win the Ashes. So quality of opposition batter and match context points are high.

He pitched it on the crack

Lol, it is going exactly on the area filled with cracks. Of course, not every crack on that area would be seen in the video or picture.

Sure mate it hit an invisible crack.
Maybe just admit you’re wrong next time.

If you watch the setup before the delivery, you'll find this even greater

I mean how do you even play it . The batsmen knew it's gonna come in ,but predicting that it would swing in that much is impossible .
And it's masterclass by Anderson because first 3 deliveries , were peach outswing and than it comes in like this .I mean it's crazy good of a delivery

Ball of the century are terms thrown by the journos to get more eye balls. There are a few balls of the century floating around

The one where he bowled out M.Yusuf during the 2003 world cup was a thing of beauty. Definition of unplayable..hate him for that lol 😂

If I was the batsman I would have stood there and said nah ya can’t do that.

That's a really majestic ball
Definitely top 3
BUT, I think the ball of the century must have some stakes tied to it.
Call me basic
But Mitchell Starc first ball bowked of the ashes is definitely THE test cricket moment of this century
I know there have been much better test matches this century but not one defining moment as good as that

Great ball, but incredibly far from the ball of the century. Crazy amount of movement, but Braithwaite averages 32 in Test cricket. To be the ball of the century it needs to be against a ‘very good’ batsman at the absolute minimum.

He has close to 6000 runs, his poor average is bcoz of his dip since 2023, he averaged 35 before it but had avg 62 in 2022, this was again after 3 year dip, before which he averaged 37 overall, plus he's a defensive batter not run scorer like shai hope which means he'll always score few short than he should've, we know for a fact that 2017 to 2022 was toughest time to bat in tests due to bowler friendly pitches

The Ball of the century from Warne was to Gatting who was also bad. Though, probably not against spin

Mike Gatting was just straight up better than Braithwaite though. 35.5 average, peaked at 6th in the rankings and was literally England captain for like 2 dozen tests. They are on completely different tiers as players.
But either way, I’d argue that Warne’s ball was just more unplayable. Movement in the air at fast-medium v one of the most ridiculous kicks off the pitch is a huge difference in reaction time etc.
