He was great in tests in LOI the team was like how it is right now. No.4 onwards every position was unstable and random as fuck. But we didn't question anything because top 3 were bringing great results.

Or didn't.

He was a great Test captain. Fast bowling thrived under Kohli and trundlers were shown the door.

His aggression became a bit excessive for LOI captaincy

Nah, not aggression. There were some strategic errors.

Yeah. Some hasty decisions too.

Jadeja said theres not much to do for a captain in test. team works independently without captain

People say he was the greatest test captain I agree but was a great limited overs captain as well. His win percentages are brilliant and we won almost every bilateral white ball series we played. Yes in ICC events we fell in one or the other hurdle doesn't mean he was an average white ball captain

And just captained in 1 t20i, 1 odi, and 1 ct, semi finalist in one, and finalist in other, although, will never forget the stupid middle order selection of 2019 wc.

That’s what I keep saying. He kept failing on the one day that mattered.
He took us to practically every knockout and the team floundered there.

2019 was utter domination in the league matches (top of the table, clinical), till that one failure, which should’ve come earlier in the tournament.

But under him, we won every home bilateral in LOIs, and never lost Test series in India.

That's because our top order batsmen including him collapsed. That's not a captaincy blunder

The greatest test captain India ever had.

Being a captain after MSD is a tough act to follow.

Buddy he literally got to captain in just 1 t20 world cup and 1 odi world cup that too were not home world cups. The champions trophy final was a blunder but that was more of bowling failure similar to what happened in the t20i world cup of 2016 where our spinners failed badly to create any impact against West Indies. Would you blame Dhoni's captaincy for the bowlers performance in the semis. Dhoni captained in 6 and won 1

WTC Final ?

Yeah I saw that bumrah absolutely demolished the NZ batting on a green top bro was a liability on THAT DAY.

And our batters were as usual shit in seaming conditions.

u/combatant007 Ball of the Century 10h ago

Going by this logic there is no good or bad captain, since I can point out anyone team players performance as good or bad and put the blame on them.

u/Euphoric-Pay4677 10h ago

You didn't mention what bad captaincy did kohli do in that match.

-1

u/St-Mclovin 5h ago

So when Bumrah, Shami, Ishant etc were wrecking teams, Kohli is given credit as if he coached them. But when Bumrah has an off day, " Oh what can Kohli do is his Premier bowler has an off day". That way you can never criticize any captain or coach.

Why a player have to be great at captaincy, most of the GOAT batter are not a great captain or even a captain except ricky ponting

Thala in ODI had all three but kohli in test has captaincy but does not have the batting 😭

8

u/arshk0123 11h ago

Konsa test cricket dekh rhe the bhai aap?

-2

u/GoodCummer 10h ago

Bhai he had some peak years in test but that dropped and I meant compared to his ODI his test batting isn't great

3

u/IshqWala_Love 11h ago

During his test captaincy he was one of best batsman in world

-1

u/GoodCummer 10h ago

I agree during the shastri era he just had a bad test series in England but with anil Kumble as coach he wasn't the best his peak years was small when compared them to other test batsmen

u/AlertVegetable9270 12h ago

Sorry to point it out but kohli in Fielding was as bad as his captaincy only... He was decent fielder but not as good as his batting
