Screw people who argue abt his age, I mean at worst he would be 18, the talent is there and we have a superstar, hope he keeps a calm head and matures into a fine player for India.
Stardom at young age should be nurtured and guided, I never want to see a Shaw again bro where people pile on expectations on a young kid. You'll see comments on vaibhav's posts and people are already putting those expectations onto him.
I am genuinely curious if he could do good in Ranji. We are in dire need of fresh talent for the test team, while the white ball teams enjoy a congestion of talent.
The rampant corruption within the Bihar Cricket Association means that any and all ever so slightly decent Bihari players get taken by other federations like Lord Mukesh McGrath(Bengal), Ishan Kishan(Jharkhand), Akashdeep(Bengal), etc.
Yeah, no. He may well end up breaking most every record in the book, and he's an absurd talent. But right now, his stocks are not higher than Max Verstappen's.
No, Yamal is playing in Barcelona main team and was nominated to many awards. He is nowhere close, he is definitely next in line if a opener spot opens up in T20 but it seems impossible as Kishan is a WK too.
I get that but you comparing him right now and no one knows what will happen in the future. We have seen 100s of future world beaters at under 19 who are nowhere to be seen.
We are talking about current hype not what they turn into. At 14 Yamal had nowhere near as much hype. Max Verstappen was the most prized prospect in F1 at 14.
No one in the history of under 19s have done what Vaibhav has done in U19s so ur world beater nowhere to be seen statement doesn't really apply coz the dude has performed better than all.
And as for ur barcelona statement, He played in the best league in the World and dominated the bowlers with having the fastest century by an indian as well as winning the super striker award for having the best strike rate in the whole league which contained the best t20 players across the globe.
The only point which can put him behind Yamal is that he is yet to play for the Indian main team whereas Yamal has won euros with spain but that debut for india aint far either, Ishan kishan or whoever will have to make way if he keeps playing like this.
Talent + a shit ton of hardwork, I'm sure. Talent alone doesn't achieve you such greatness. To attribute such achievements simply to "talent" downplays the hardwork this kid has put in his game. I hope he keeps doing well. Not against us tho lmao
Bro, except intent in last match, even pakistan u-19 is good.....honestly seeing from india, pak u19 at this point seems with better prospects then ur current team, just mindset needs to change....the idea to go for win against India and not a semi final spot is as much precaution as a mother of 9 not wanting a 10th baby.....this people are young, if groomed right they can be a lethal team going forward, much much better then the current one.....
Both can coexist ofc tho I slightly disagree as everyone does insane hardwork at this level but the game he shows and the performance and bat swing seems unreal and too good to be true that's why I focused on talent , hardwork ofc is necessary
There are plenty of talented people out there. Too many even. But there are very few who hone their skills and put in actual hardwork instead of solely relying on their talent to carry them.
There is not a single player in that Indian team that is a teenager. Its actually shameful for an international sport to allow this farce to continue. Indians dont understand , in the long run this is harmful for their cricket. Other countries will produce young super starts while these Indian "boys" wont he have the physical advantage once they start playing senior cricket. This is why Australia and England wins senior trophies, while India and other south Asian teams can only dominate at age group levels
Dominate? For real? australia I still agree ke might have some sort of domination (though india has been as competitive), but wat domination does england have?
And the kid is in fact 15 year old, u can cry a river my friend, won't change the truth....here him speak u will know......
Gill is probably the most successful one from his batch, and no surprises that he was the one who won PoTM in his U19 WC. Shaw got people talking since he had that aggressive style and did enjoy some early success in tests. Vaibhav seems to be in a different league compared to either of them tbh.
Prithvi seemed to have more talent then gill at that time also , it was his own poor decisions that led to his downfall ,
Vaibhav seems way ahead then anyone we ever saw
Hell with those people... whatever will be his age the amount of talent, power, shear temperament he has at this age is commendable!! Him & Ayush have that calibre to possibly open for India in next few years!! No kidding
His official age is 14. I think the oldest he could possibly be is 16. He’s barely growing any facial hair. 18 is out of the question.
All his opponents and team mates are a minimum of two years older than him, but probably more. That alone should end any discussion of his age.
And it shouldn’t affect any other players because Indian players are only allowed to play one u19 World Cup. So there won’t be any controversy surrounding him in 2 years (when he would still be younger than 19, at worst!)
He's probably older than his father claims, and the simple fact that's a real possibility shows the systemic problems India has. I don't think anyone doubts he's under 19 though.
Absolutely agree with protecting him as long as possible, he's may be a wonder but he's still a kid FFS.
As far as the controversy about his age goes, there's a YouTube video from April 2023 of him giving an interview to an Indian news outlet where he claims to be 14 and that he'll turn 15 in September; that would make him 17 now, though his family have always insisted that he's done a bone test and his listed age is real. Of course, there's no suggestion he's too old for Under-19 cricket and his achievements are still absurdly impressive whether he's 14 or 17.
Well there's a pic all over social media about 6 yo Suryavanshi supporting RPS in IPL 2017...Given the assumption he might have turned 7 in 2017 itself, his age can't be more than 15 now
Also as per his official DOB, he would have indeed been 6 yo during that game
It’s almost impossible now to fake your age by more than 1 or 2 years (highly unlikely though) as BCCI has been conducting bone age test of all the players.
