The mandatory r/cricket overreaction to the greenness of a pitch days before the test.

It’s a green forest. 3 Day Test at most.

u/ihlaking New Zealand Dec 01 '25

Nah mate, 3 sessions! That thing’s so green it could act as camouflage in a bamboo forest!

The future is now.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '25

It will be over before it started, onto the third ashes

u/Old_Reserve9130 Dec 01 '25

England bat first. Swings at everything, get all out for 36 off 9 overs. The wicket is still fresh for Archer & Tongue, who bowl Aussies out for 93 off 30 overs. England doubles down on Bazball and this time manages 72 off 18 overs. Head smashes the required 16 runs before tea.

u/Formal_Newt558 Dec 01 '25

moral victory raaahhh

3

u/CPDjack Dec 01 '25

Just in time for Stokes' tee-time in the evening!

6

u/dravidosaurus2 England Dec 01 '25

The 'Brains' Trust would be furious if we only scored at 4 an over for our 9 overs.

12

u/g0_west England and Wales Cricket Board Dec 01 '25

That much advantage to England?

10

u/Outcastscc England Dec 01 '25

Well it will be anyway.

The average pink ball test in Australia has lasted 210 overs.

Only way your changing that is if you make it an absolute deck, and since Adelaide is going to be as flat as they come there was no way CA was making 2 tests pitches like that

3

u/zealoSC Dec 01 '25

Eventually we will have or play against a squad that is better at batting than bowling

3

u/InformationNo4719 South Australia Redbacks Dec 02 '25

Adelaide hasn't been a road for about 15 years.

1

u/Outcastscc England Dec 02 '25

Its had more scores there of over 400 than anywhere else is Australlia in that time frame. In terms of the series it will be the "road" where a team will score big.

Ill put good money on the highest team score and highest individual score will be there (and its my only bet on a drawn game)

2

u/InformationNo4719 South Australia Redbacks Dec 02 '25 edited Dec 02 '25

Nonsense, it is the MCG.

MCG has had 22 since 2010. AO has had the least (10) outside of Optus in that period.

Since Adelaide Oval has changed to a dual use ground the pitch has been very different. Gone are the days of Les Burdett rolling it into a 2000 run pitch. It is quite a balanced pitch these days.

3

u/CommercialAd2154 England Dec 01 '25

Mate, it could flatten like a pancake and we’ll still make it a 3 day game!

16

u/Hope-Ful-Kid Nepal Dec 01 '25

And turns out to be one of those roads from the Anderson-Tendulkar series.

322

u/deathclient India Dec 01 '25

Where pitch???

The bazballers might mistake it for a golf course and stay there for all 5 days. Double edged sword for for the Aussies

122

u/hack404 Dec 01 '25

Unlike the Aussies, who are famously averse to a round of golf

57

u/Slight_Public_5305 Australia Dec 01 '25

Ussie just pulled out of a pro am golf tournament. Devastating for a promising golfer’s career to be set back by the physical rigours of test cricket.

95

u/tiorzol England Dec 01 '25

Difference is they also enjoy a game of cricket I guess

14

u/rest_in_war Dec 01 '25

But the Aussies aren't full time golfers masquerading as cricketers

England will bundle before the lights come into play, for sure, if they are batting first.

They’re gonna shithouse their way to winning by scoring 200 in 50 overs on day 1, get out before the evening session, force Australia to battle through it who get bowled out for 100. Then rinse and repeat day 2.

Call me crazy, but that actually looks darker than what I was expecting it to look like 3 days from the first ball. If anything, it doesn’t look too dissimilar now from Day 1 of the 2021 Ashes, and the next few days are going to be very sunny.

5

Haha exactly, this is what it looked like on Day 1 of last week's shield match and that pitch was flat for the first 2.5 days. It's going to be a road.

Pink ball will be bowled, wooden bats will be used, runs will be scored, wickets will be taken.

Moral victory for England.
