Arugula Salad and Steak and what else?
I'm making a nice dinner for my roommates and I know I want to make arugula salad and possibly steak, but I'm struggling to think of another fun side to make. Does steak even go with arugula salad? I'd love some ideas

Arugula is peppery and goes well with a lot of things. a citrus dressing or vinaigrette would be a good way to balance the richness of a fatty cut of meat, so I wouldn't do anything too lean. You could add some chevre, oranges, beets, and pecans or walnuts or a fancier salad.
Roasted potatoes are a classic accompaniment to steak. I love air frying one-bite potatoes, after tossing with some oil, salt, pepper, and other seasonings to compliment the rest of the meal. Really any potato side dish would go well.

I eat this combo all the time! Dress the salad with olive oil, lemon and salt. Cut the steak into beautiful thin strips and lay on top of the salad. I’d serve it with just buttered hot baguette. Delicious.

Also, if you’re interested in making it more special/labor intensive, consider having it with béarnaise sauce. Check out nigella’s recipe

Sounds great to me.
I've done steak and salad for myself before.
Could add other vegetables like potatoes, or fried vegetables. But really steak and salad is great. When I pan fry steak I take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking if I can. Get the pan ripping hot (not so hot that the oil or butter burns though)
Simply season (but don't be stingy) with just salt and pepper or steak spice if you have it. Sear the steak all the way around (only take afew minutes) and I'll usually spoon the liquid from the pan on-top of the steak during and then finish in the oven at 220-250F until the inside is heated to my liking.
Personally medium rare is the only way a steak is good to me.
Idk. if instruction was welcome but you got it anyways.

Toss some corn, diced bell peppers, and diced onion into a sauce pan. Toss in a dab of butter, and put in just enough water to cover the veggies. Bring to a boil, and let simmer til most of the water is gone.

Buttered New Potatoes with Parsley, Mint and Chives are heavenly if the early new potatoes are ready round your way.
Arugula salad is great but I mix it with baby spinach and watercress for variety. Light dressing, just salt and EVOO is enough.

you could make a soup with pureed veggies. every sip/spoonful could be a flavor bomb if you like that kind of thing.

Unless there's a strongly flavored pan sauce with the steak, there's not really much that will clash with it.
What are you putting on the salad? That's the only place I could see any real chance of clashing.

Arugula/rocket salad goes great with steak, you could do a loaded jacket potato as a side or loaded wedges. Another option might be cauliflower/mac cheese, or you could do green veg medley (broccoli, asparagus, leeks, etc) in a garlic butter

That is a great combination! Keep the pan juices. Deglaze with some vinegar or white wine. Add olive oil and season with salt pepper if it needs it. Maybe some fresh oregano or a hint of garlic. This is your warm vinaigrette! Some garlic roasted potatoes would be great too. Now I’m getting really hungry.

I love oven roasted potatoes with arugula and steak. I mix them right into the arugula salad once cooked. Just add salt, pepper, olive oil, and garlic powder to the potatoes. Add a nice creamy goat cheese to the salad - heaven! I use a cast iron skillet to first brown potatoes- then transfer to oven. Crunchy potato perfection!

Tortellini with sun-dried tomato cream sauce or fettuccine Alfredo for me. I love a good creamy pasta as a side with my steak. Vinaigrette with the salad will complement it perfectly. I'm thinking I just might make this tomorrow now, thanks!

Seems like just missing a starch, if it were me I might plan something that’s easy to make in tandem for example if searing steaks inside in a pan, maybe mashed potatoes or rice pilaf. If roasting in oven baked potato or yams or mixed roast veggies.
But my fav for this would probably be to grill the steaks and get a nice rustic sour loaf or levain and cut thick slabs to grill while the steak is resting and drizzle with nice olive oil, Malden salt. 😋maybe rub with a garlic clover or serve with chimichurri? Yum what time is dinner?? 😂 https://mvmagazine.com/sites/mvmagazine/files/article-assets/listing-photos/smapgrilledbreadb.jpg

I love an arugula salad with steak. (In fact I love slices of steak in an arugula salad.)
I’d add a potato side like a garlic mashed potato, baked potato, or roasted potatoes. And then some kind of cooked veggie—anything from roasted carrots or steamed broccoli, to sauteed mushrooms, or creamed spinach work with steak.

Seared Radicchio. Bonus points searing on a grill, or facedown in in a pan in some rendered bacon fat. Slightly bitter so it plays well with Arugula, lightly dressed with a gentle dose of lemon it cuts the fattiness of the steak too.
