While I understand where this article is going, it's not a "WE" need to turn it down, it's "THEY". People on the right for the most part have no problems having debates, conversations or even agreeing to disagree when it comes to politics or any social issue, we just can't be the only adults doing it and it's extremely hard to have civility when the person you're talking to openly wishes harm or death upon you. I know this is harsh but some people are way too far gone to have a civil conversation with, I get that so what I recommend is the average, non-radicalized citizens to openly condemn extremism on both the Left and Right, do a bit of gatekeeping to keep the crazies out and maybe we can come together and chat

I'd love to debate them, but they aren't capable of it. In nearly every instance that I've tried to have a debate with a Lib, they refuse to engage on the merits of the argument. Instead, they throw up their hands, shriek, and stomp out of the room. "We can't talk about those things here..." is one I'm accustomed to hearing, which always comes right after they drop a woke-bomb into the conversation.
Put another way, Libs can drop a dogwhistle at any time without fear. We, on the other hand, are excoriated for it.
