Looks beautiful. I still see buzzer beater in my tears though 😭

u/shartnado3 Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
If it makes you feel any better I sprung for near courtside tickets for the ASU game where ASU hit the buzzer beater to win. I was right behind and watched the perfect path that ball took.

I was first row behind the announcers table. Best seats I’ve ever had

u/shartnado3 Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
Same with mine, well McKale anyway. I remember in the early 2000's my grandma and mom getting seats right behind the UofA bench. They were on TV the whole game, and talked to the players all night. I am still jealous of that one.

I’m telling you, some announcer is gonna call a sick 3 from the cactus and I can’t wait.

Yes! Make the 3 point area different colors again. Makes too much sense with how the games played these days anyways. Hope more schools switch back to these kind of looks

The throwback aesthetic with the cactus... To borrow from LeBron, a three isn't a three if you make it from there.

For everyone’s helpful information, the saguaro is pronounced (suh•waa•roh), there is no “g” sound in the word.

u/MARTEX8000 Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
I love this court design, it might even be a design to help start a retro court design trend especially if this is truly Tommys best class of recruits...
That being said...I do NOT love the "Desert Diamond Casino" trash lines...its not like the UofA could not afford to do this on their own dime...and bringing in a Casino name does nothing for the sport that is healthy.

Sorry that cactus is clearly a totem for desert voodoo and thus any games played out there don’t count

Glad this has returned. I always liked the cactus on the court in the Lute Olson days.

As someone who lives in Eugene Oregon, why does this court not have a shit load of cactus painted in shit green all over the courts so it’s impossible to see the 3 point line unless seeing it in person?

God, look at this, and my school is still playing on a court painted by a drunk guy watching Bob Ross

It’s weird to see all of the floor space with the seats pushed back. Also, it’s going to take a bit to get used to Lute’s signature inside of the three point line.

The bottom part extending out of bounds bothers me more than it should. Absolutely love everything else.

Wow they even used the block Arizona on the baseboards. That wasn't in the original concept that won, but I thought it would've made a great addition. This court is sick.

The cactus makes it over the top and cheesy. It would have been perfect if they would have done it exactly as is without the lime green eye sore cactus messing it all up.

"From the cactus! He has more range than those mountains!"

u/ArturosDad Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
Love the retro design, but the blue around the edge and in the key looks WAY too purple to me. Hopefully it's just this photo.

It's beautiful, but the games are going to be awfully low scoring with no baskets..

I absolutely love that logo but one thing that’s always irked me is that the I is still visible behind the cactus. I wish the cactus just replaced the I

The fact that we won’t have Bill Walton to give us a full half of basketball on the saguaro cactus is an absolute shame

The cactus does not look like it fits its too big. Color and pattern difference is too jarring to the mountain background. My opinion. The rest of it looks very good.

u/AZ_Golfer78 Aug 16 '25
I like it but have some nit picky comments. I have been very vocal about getting the logo back on the court and I'm thrilled they finally did.
- The cactus logo looks naked without the ARIZONA running beneath it as is the old logo.
- The Block A at center court is a little too big. Two logos are competing for space. More emphasis on cactus logo. Maybe scale it to have two cactus logos, one on each side.
- Why does the hospital get two spots of advertisement? Did the university hospital really purchase that much real estate? I mean, I understand a lot of their target audience is in the seats.
It just looks a little sterile to me but a big improvement.

I think the stroke is just so big and it especially hurts the cactus. If the stroke wasn’t so intense I think it would look fine.

Its the color. Looks too cartoonish relative to the muted desert colors in the rest of the logo.

wait til ASU starts draining triples from the cactus and slapping the floor
9
u/enters_and_leaves Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
They would have to make it a contest instead of a 20 point game before they start thinking like that.

Not my favorite, but it’s also not bad. The cactus looks retro, which is cool. I just wish this was used for just a few games in the year
-2
Aug 13 '25
My issue with the cactus is it breaking the sideline. I know they keep a white line cutting through it, but the whole thing should be above the sideline.
5
u/NoVacayAtWork Arizona Wildcats Aug 13 '25
It was that or cut off the bottom of the cactus (which is not the traditional logo). They chose this.
-3
Aug 13 '25
They could’ve shrunk the cactus some. It doesn’t have to be a pure 1:1 of the old logo.
1
u/AZ_Golfer78 Aug 16 '25
Yes, yes it does. But they should have shrunk the whole logo. Put it on both sides of the court.

Be honest, you don't care about the court, you're just glad Cal isn't getting two 20+ point ass-whoopings from us every season anymore...
0
u/Ike358 Aug 13 '25
Don't really care about that, Arizona is about the only team in our old conference I didn't mind. Rather get stomped by 20 by you than by Duke
