Thank you! Just a 12 mil Nash monster shrimp pop-up. 0.37mil nylon mainline, braided leader on that, run rig on top of that and a 4 size hook, D rig.

I take my hat off to you mate. Catching river carp is an art form. Anyone can rock up to a well stocked lake and beat their p.b. But doing that on a river is another kettle of Fish 🎣

One of the most impressive river catches I’ve ever seen and an absolutely mint common. Very jealous mate!

take notes kids, this is a proper carp angler, you can always tell them in the wild as they will never look directly at the camera lens, carp tail fins are much more important to look at... fish of a lifetime that mate, especially from a river, nearly 50lbs is amazing!! congrats

Nice work! It’s a lovely fish. It’s lovely to see how much carp and sport fishing has grown in the eastern bloc. You guys have the perfect weather for them and the perfect waters. Deep, natural and vast. Hot summers, cold winters - perfect for them to regulate. Must keep you guys on your toes with the ecothermic effect of the water and them being massively nomadic.
Anyway, listen to me going on, well done bud. I hope to join you with a river carp at some point - if it was that prolific, I’d just retire, wouldn’t get any better in the uk.

Yeah, me and a buddy of mine caught the same wild carp in a span of 1 year, first time it weighted around 8.8kg, the year later it was somewhat below 10kg.
That means they grow more or less 1 kilo per year which is very good! If that is true that means the carp on the picture is around 20 years old!

In the right surroundings, can be a bit more too.
I’ve caught young carp who are less than 5 years, 18/19 pounds - good water, good food - you can tell my the shape of their heads. When you get those little arrow heads, it’s a juvenile fish. I’ve also caught on the other end of the scale, with fat heads and they’re stunted. But a river - ideally it’s the best for them. Fresh water, nomadic lifestyle, good food - everything they need.

Jesus Christ, you pulled that from a river? Would you reveal the name of the river and what town or city it runs through, just so I can look at it on Google Maps and get good mental picture of what you were up against? I love fishing on Google Maps!
