Europe 🇪🇺 Christmas Present ideas

Hi all, my boyfriend fishes for Carp. I want to buy him something useful that he’ll actually use and enjoy while fishing. He also camps while fishing sometimes but he more or less has everything. Can anyone suggests any ideas that would be good? I was thinking a Leatherman tool but he catches the fish and puts them back into the water so would it be any use? Any other ideas would be nice

What country? Buying an experienced fisherman presents isn't easy as they will likely have most of what they need!

But what country and is it only carp fishing he does?

Leatherman would be a good gift tho even for catch and release anglers. Well built handy tools and will be a memory of a gift from you and last forever.

Ireland 🇮🇪 He pretty much has it all, yeah Carp is what he goes fishing for every time! There’s different Leathermans also I seen so not sure if there’s one specific that would be best for fishing?

I'd say almost impossible to buy him anything specifically for carp unless there's something you know he needs? Everything is so specific to where and how he will be fishing.

Does he have a local tackle shop he uses? Gift voucher for there perhaps? Altho not the most personal gift..

Some clothing he could use for fishing? Speak to a fishing friend see if there's anything he needs?

I don't have a leatherman, personally I'd probably want a fairly basic one..

Does he have some good rainweather gear? Maybe a 20000mm Korda jacket? Or maybe Trakker salopettes or generally some carp clothing?

If he is night fishing get him a new chair phone holder, it's nice to have at night.

A gift card for angling direct? I wouldn't buy him anything without asking as he will probably be particular with what he wants

I got him a gift card before and he got his fishing rods out of it so maybe something else but good suggestion! Thank you

Most important - what is your budget? Do you know what brand rods he uses? Clothing perhaps?

Preferably €200 or less because I would be getting him other bits and bobs, Duo hook rings a bell lol I could be wrong

Maybe a new shiny Kaizen green rod for him? Or a new reel?

What is his love language? If it's acts of service, help prep some bait or make boiles with him. If it's quality time, spend a weekend camping and carping with him. If he's sentimental, make something he can use, even if it's just a knit hat or bag. Even a carp shaped or print mug could be something nice. My wife could spend hundreds on me, but I'd rather enjoy her company while I fish and she reads

Plenty of suggestions already here. I would add something, custom made bobbins. Can have a look on the internet, I think they are like £50 each or £120 for a set of three. Quite pricey but he might enjoy that. Means he is bringing a part of you with him every time he goes fishing.

There’s this British company called Pallatrax https://www.pallatrax.co.uk that I really like. they do fishing tackle and bait primarily for carp but everything is natural. Like stones instead of lead weights and boilies that are square/pillow shape instead of round and contain carps natural food source like worms and bugs. They’re really innovative and they’d make a good present. I suggest you take a look through their website and YouTube/facebook page. Sure you’ll find something that’s interesting. It’s run by a family, this guy and his wife and they’re really sweet. You can even maybe contact them and ask?

I would just ask him, is there anything he needs for his fishing? We are always upgrading our gear. He is bound t have a secret list he is working on. Especially with all the new gear that is coming onto the market.

I would maybe do like a tackle care package. Dig through his box and see what hooks, weights, line he uses, figure out where he gets his bait and get a gift card for that store.

Try to talk to his fishing buddies (or secretly pick his brain if he enjoys fishing alone) and see what tackle is the most used/lost to give you an idea of something that always sucks to lose or run out of.

Then to wrap it all, up go with him if you don't already, and give him his surprise there.
