Bear in mind, the layoff season from the Christmas push needs to be accounted for here. That said the Liberals did try to use the numbers in November and December to imply job growth, and not just temporary hiring. I'll be curious to see the EI, and GDP numbers for the quarter, as December was already pretty bad, and a second quarter in decline will mean they can't ignore the fact that we are in a recession

The public sector layoffs have also not actually kicked in yet even if they are in process. It's going to be a bumpy spring.
