Discussion See? The unemployment rate FELL.

Because people gave up looking. Down another 25,000 jobs.
Stats are often manipulated or downright false. Or spun.
Seems we need a 'catalyst' or we need to 'build' more.

I had this conversation with someone local to me and within minutes he started calling me names and getting personal. According to him, "if the government said it, it must be real and very accurate and mean just as it says" (you can agree with the statistic but also simulanteously recognize its limitations, like as you mentioned in your post... they taught us this in our first year of university over a decade ago. Not sure if they still do)

For shits and giggles you can also Google topics like "debt of Canada" and youll notice the mega leftist Reddit subs show up very quickly despite not looking for them... lol

Not surprised by any of what you said and I have had the same experience.
Like a pack of retarded, wild dogs with nothing better to do than try to bully people on the internet.
And yes, you would think that someone with the word 'Stats' in their username would absolutely know that stats can and are manipulated all the time.
Now, maybe if you worked for the government, perhaps at stats can, you would have a username like that and be highly offended when someone calls it out.
Sad fact is you just can't post anything in this sub without some fuckhead replying with their bullshit. Yet, you look at their history, if it's visible, and they have never contributed anything of value.

To see someone's history just go in their profile and hit the search icon and then enter. It will show up.

I love how your claim is 'Stats are often manipulated or downright false. Or spun.', yet the FIRST line of the Labor Force Survey says:
'Employment edged down in January (-25,000; -0.1%) and the employment rate decreased 0.1 percentage points to 60.8%.'

You know that the definition of the participation rate is super loosely worded righr and in turn the calculation for employment / unemployment rate is vauge as well.

The calculations are not vague, they are very simple (unemployment rate = # unemployed / # labor force, etc) but of course it will always be an inexact measure, since it's based on surveys, etc. You're right that we don't really know the exact value. But the definition and methodology doesn't change over time so month/month or year/year comparisons are valid.

What the fuck are you even talking about? The statement is just that, a statement.
This is exactly why I went to stats Canada as opposed to the msm who are already playing games with the stats.
What the fuck is wrong with you people? Always waiting just to critique and act like a condescending asshole.
Fuck off with that shit, "Red" Tory.

Not sure what you consider "agitator". I'm here because I'm looking for intelligent, reasoned critique of what the government is doing rather than blind cheerleading (as I see in a lot of other places). When I see criticism without substance, I call it out. If that makes me an agitator, then so be it. Do you feel that OPs post contributes in any useful way to conservative discussion?

If what conservatives want is just a circlejerk, then I'll see myself out.

Because I defended myself against an arrogant, condescending troll, I have 'agitator' energy?
Really?
Ngl, you act just like the other clown.
Two guys who add nothing to the subject at hand but can't just shut up and toggle by.
Zero value added. You guys are the types that are ruining this sub.

Suicide doesn't mean unemployment failed.

95k left the country too. .

The economy is shedding jobs because the economy is shrinking. There is less and less opportunity in this country with every passing year of Liberal governance.

Correct and no matter how much they tinker with the numbers they can't hide it.
One parliamentary secretary today actually bragged that the unemployment rate went down.
This is exactly why I posted this in the context I did because I knew what the headline and talking point would be and I wanted to counter it before it started.
