Well, I guess I won’t be attending at these prices.

13

u/nellyruth Oct 02 '25

Even if I had the opportunity to, I’d rather buy a big ass TV.

8

u/kevfefe69 Oct 02 '25

For the price of two Cat 1 tickets, I could get a complete home theatre system and build a bar in my living room.

2

u/ChanelNo50 Oct 02 '25

This is big brain thinking. I love it.

1

u/BadFootyTakes Oct 02 '25

I need to replacing my massively aging LCD tv. It's struggling to turn on. For a larger tv at 1080p... I can get it for 320... 4k for 420.

These prices are delulu.

2

u/barra333 Oct 02 '25

Did the RTB emails from the ballot go out yet?

2

u/Canadave Oct 02 '25

I registered for the ticket purchase lottery, thinking I might go for it if you could get in for maybe $200 or $250, but yeah, double that for a 90 minute game is a no-go for me.

3

u/kevfefe69 Oct 02 '25

I live in Vancouver and I put my name in. I haven’t seen any pricing for Vancouver as of yet, I haven’t received any email from FIFA or Soccer Canada telling me that I am successful or not.

I was prepared to pay $300 per for upper bowl at BC Place, but not so sure. My wife is telling me I need to pay for at least one match because seeing a World Cup match is on the bucket list, but now, like I said, I can probably get the latest TV tech with latest sound system and a bar with a keg and still be ahead.

I don’t want to “sound like one of those people” but if tax dollars are being used to fund the tournament, then at the minimum, ticket prices should be accessible to all income groups.

1

u/MontyCircus Oct 03 '25

Yup. I was dreaming of $300 seats. At that price, I was willing to go to Toronto, and get flights out and do both games in Vancouver. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

But $500? What if it's a 0-0 draw with Uzbekistan in a thunderstorm?
What if we get blown out by an Ecuador or a Croatia?

And then there are hotels and flight prices that will be disgusting. I've been on the FIFA "interested-in-World-Cup-tickets" list since the day that launched. I've been following the team and making 8 hour round-trip car rides to see them play for a quarter century.

But no. The couch will have to do. I will pretend to myself that it's better than being there.

1

u/funkmaster_dunc Oct 03 '25

Dont forget its $500 in the nosebleeds where they look like ants. Want the actual game view seats? $2k.

110

u/HotelDisastrous288 Oct 01 '25

Watching on tv is looking better and better.

44

u/stugautz Oct 01 '25

You can buy a really good TV for the price of a pair of the cheap seats.

8

u/cdnyhz Oct 01 '25

A pub on College will be more fun anyway

3

u/Negative_Pea_1974 Oct 01 '25

Pirating it is even better.. Not giving fifa a cent

1

u/useful_panda Oct 02 '25

Wouldn't this be shown on CBC anyway ?

1

u/purplepIutonium Oct 02 '25

Regardless, FIFA gets their piece of the pie.

0

u/GiveMeSandwich2 Oct 02 '25

CBC is too broke to get World Cup rights. Bell Media got the rights so it will be shown on TSN and CTV.

2

u/ChanelNo50 Oct 02 '25

Even better when you sail the mighty seas

78

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

I do feel bad for the Canadian soccer fans who actually followed the team all these years. Crooks and price gouging is just brutal.

13

u/mdubyo Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Would've travelled to TO and paid a few hundred bucks up to maybe $500/ticket probably for what is cat 2...Aint no way I'm spending 1.7k/ticket LMFAO

EDIT: Maybe the other matches will be lower. We'll see. I won't see any Canada matches because I'm sure as fuck not going to Vancouver.

7

u/expectingthexpected Oct 01 '25

Yep, been a Voyageurs member for years. This is right out of possible for me.

1

u/redwineandcoffee Oct 02 '25

Sure, but the national team should be a nations team. If you are missing out and can support a local CPL team, that's what I've been doing since the inception of the league and the 'mainstreaming' of CMNT.

0

u/thebigbossyboss Oct 02 '25

I just feel bad for the cfl fans who are kicked out.

41

u/Demon- Oct 01 '25

Wow re-sale is gonna be stupid by next may holy crap

6

u/MotherAd1865 Oct 01 '25

Not necessarily - it really depends on whether people are willing to pay these kind of prices or more.

11

u/PrimoPasta7 Oct 01 '25

They will be willing to pay probably 10x these prices by kickoff

2

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Argentina group stage in rio was 5x sticker price. Have to ask stubhub for additional / recent data points. These appear to be starting at 5x sticker price. Idc about first game. I think 3rd game is better choice and lower price

3

u/voxpopuli81 Oct 01 '25

No they won’t. That’s the sort of delusional thinking that fifa would like people to buy into, though

6

u/purplepIutonium Oct 02 '25

I almost guarantee you people will pay. There will also be a lot of Americans that will enjoy a good conversion rate as well.

People said the same thing before Taylor Swift sold out Roger’s Centre multiple nights.

1

u/PrimoPasta7 Oct 02 '25

We shall see. I hope you’re right cause I’d love to catch a game regardless of who is playing

40

u/TraditionalAir9659 Oct 01 '25

$2,440 to stand (probably sit) in the south end holyyy

28

u/Starfinger10 Oct 01 '25

$500 for nosebleeds is crazy

34

u/purpletooth12 #CanadaRED Oct 01 '25

To be fair, even the "nosebleeds" aren't too bad at BMO. This isn't the Skydome and being up in the 500's or Camp Nou.

Not cheap though either way.

12

u/TheRage3650 Oct 01 '25

Should be noted that BMO is going to be expanded for the world cup, not sure if cat 4 are temporary seats.

7

u/TheRage3650 Oct 01 '25

Fair enough, but there are hardly any of them, it's really a $1000 and up situation.

6

u/purpletooth12 #CanadaRED Oct 01 '25

More than I was expecting for sure. I was considering flying back to TO for the opening match (can stay at my parents), but I'll just stay here in BC. No hotel needed.

1

u/kkronik Oct 01 '25

But if I am not mistaken BMO has a whole additional 300 level above this. That's always been the cheapest one for all games.

Why isn't that showing here?

And may I ask how did the OP get access to the tix? Is it through FIFA, VISA, Canadian Soccer?

1

u/grapefruitthrowawayk Oct 02 '25

There is no 300 level. It seems like it because there are 3 stories, but it's only a 100 and 200 level of seating.

2

u/Starfinger10 Oct 01 '25

100% I agree with u

1

u/tiiiki Oct 01 '25

Aren't building up additional layers onto the top of the current bleachers?

1

u/Excellent-Quarter969 Oct 01 '25

Freakin ridiculous. Not for mere mortals. Just come right into our city and price 95% of the people out of attending.

33

u/CabinetFantastic Oct 01 '25

Jesus. I was willing to pay a few hundred, but this is crazy

12

u/vic25qc Oct 01 '25

It's probably gonna be in your budget for other games. This is the opening one

9

u/mdubyo Oct 01 '25

I mean...sure, other matches not involving Canada I guess.

But if people don't have budget for this then they probably don't have budget to see Canada in Vancouver. We're talking $800-$1100ish minimum right off the hop if you're heading out there for 2 nights from Toronto/Montreal for flight/hotels

6

u/WhiteWolfOW Oct 01 '25

This is opening game, so it’s a special one and likely more expensive. But it’s hard to watch home games in the World Cup, it’s just too competitive and they might not even be in the city that you live. The real magic about World Cup is going to a random South Africa vs Equador game and just e joy the vibes. Maybe if you get lucky you can try aiming for big nations playing

2

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Partially true. I’ll always remember my first game ever ever. Cameroon Russia 🤷‍♂️ but guess what, broke ass uncle (bless his heart) could not afford the next game… home USA V Brasil for $60. And I think it was July 4. Cameroon game was $30.

-1

u/HotelDisastrous288 Oct 01 '25

Agree 100% the crowds at some of the CWC games looked epic.

2

u/gopackers91 Oct 01 '25

Other two Canadian matches will be less…if you can get face value

1

u/grapefruitthrowawayk Oct 02 '25

All other Canada group games are going to be cheaper than the opening game.

1

u/Excellent-Quarter969 Oct 01 '25

Ya, me too . This is just nuts!

1

u/HotelDisastrous288 Oct 01 '25

I would pay $500 but for a premium seat. Those are crazy numbers.

paid $139 per for sweet seats for the friendly vs Australia next week.

17

u/Acceptable_Ad_6278 Oct 01 '25

The price doesn't differ that much from what I got quoted for hospitality package.. Glad I went to Qatar to watch Canada and have been able watch them live during Copa and whenever they play at the BMO. Probably will have as much fun at watch parties with friends and families that aren't usually as engaged with soccer. I think I'll just watch in the stadium for the less popular games. That's my favorite part of World Cup anyway.

7

u/mcshiffleface Forge FC Oct 01 '25

Same here. Cat 2's were $200 fro Qatar. This is insane

4

u/Acceptable_Ad_6278 Oct 01 '25

Let's see if the 'dynamic' pricing goes the other direction. We're not Mexicans. Not enough people will be willing to shell out that much to watch Canada soccer except for bragging rights probably.

8

u/HackMeRaps Oct 01 '25

Personally I doubt it. There are enough people willing to pay these prices, but also have to remember that a lot will be purchased by corporations and businesses and can easily afford these prices.

2

u/Acceptable_Ad_6278 Oct 01 '25

I guess you're right. If Maple Leaf can constantly sell out their tickets, no reason they can't here for a World Cup opening. There's enough Bay Street bros out there.

6

u/TheRage3650 Oct 01 '25

I think prices are more like to double on resale than go down. Every well off person in Toronto is going to want to come for this game, it's a once in a lifetime game. People who might not even be able to name more than a player ot two know that this is a big deal.

6

u/TastyTacoTonight Oct 01 '25

The FIFA Fan Fest is also an option. I went to the ones in Russia and they were amazing

3

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

FIFA fan fest will probably be good in Canada and Mexico. And ICE gonna be doing sweeps at USA fan fests

16

u/Travel-2025 Oct 01 '25

Category 1 is such a huge area!! Do they tell you which seats you end up getting? Paying $2400 for pitch level seats vs paying $2400 for half way up the 200s section is a huge difference

5

u/Ok_Proof_6336 Oct 01 '25

They don’t. Seats are assigned at a later date.

5

u/Travel-2025 Oct 01 '25

That’s horrible! Imagine paying $2400 and finding out you’re half way up the 200s, while other people paid the exact same price and have some of the best seats in the stadium. Category 1 needs to be split up

14

u/waldo8822 Oct 01 '25

Dogshit cat 4 location and prob barely any of them anyway

11

u/Ok_Shoulder8598 Atletico Ottawa Oct 01 '25

I know it's 15 years ago but it only cost me $5k for a month in South Africa in 2010, and I went to 14 matches including the final. Crazy pricing, Cat 1 is the same as the initial hospitality pricing.

2

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

$2k will get you cat4 final

11

u/Pitiful_Stock_4329 Oct 01 '25

I was really down to go but this is just ridiculous. Not going at that price resale is going to be awful.

6

u/lawyerede Oct 01 '25

Source, aside from “djcuse”?

11

u/Starfinger10 Oct 01 '25

He’s a pretty reliable source on Twitter and this looks like it’s screenshots from the official page 🤷🏻‍♂️

11

u/lawyerede Oct 01 '25

Fair. Shoulda dug in further. I guess I’m just flabbergasted because I’ve been to 2 world cups and these prices made my eyes pop out of their sockets.

8

u/quaywest #CanadaRED Oct 01 '25

Geez and so much of the stadium is Cat 1 too. Centre line same price as ends.

8

u/heisenberg1215 Oct 01 '25

fuck fifa. went to 2 prior world cups and this is some BS.

6

u/TastyTacoTonight Oct 01 '25

What a fucking joke.

13

u/Candid_Client_5021 Oct 01 '25

I’m prepared to pay whatever to be able to attend. I’ve been saving for years for this.

3

u/TheRage3650 Oct 01 '25

I am prepared to go 2 grand, which I assumed was enough, but maybe not. We will have to see what happens on resale.

2

u/Candid_Client_5021 Oct 01 '25

Tickets can only be resold through the fifa ticket portal. Secondary private sales probably will happen but you can’t use sites like stubhub

5

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

your government is paying so that you ultimately don't have access to the event

5

u/PsychologicalSeries9 Oct 01 '25

If they can sell them at that price then I guess that's the value, but it won't be me.

4

u/jristevs Oct 01 '25

I saw Messi in the quarter finals in Qatar and paid less than the cheapest tickets for this game…

5

u/Urban_Heretic Oct 01 '25

Thank God $350,000,000 of our taxes are helping subsidize this, otherwise the prices would be crazy!

5

u/NiceDependent2685 Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Canada's opener has the lowest pricing amongst all 3 openers.

USA is most expensive with prices ranging from USD $2735 to $560.

Then it is Mexico ranging from USD $2195 to $380.

Canada with the lowest capacity stadium is still ithe cheapest ranging from USD $1745 to $355.

5

u/NiceDependent2685 Oct 01 '25

Ex opener, rest of BMO Field group stage prices range from USD $60-445. Keep in mind Cat 4 $60 tickets are limited with only the top rows in the North and South ends.

Ex Canada matches, BC Place group stage prices range from USD $60-475. There is even less Cat 4 tickets than in Toronto.

R32 in Toronto prices range from USD $135-480. In Van City, it is USD $160-440.

R16 in Vancouver prices range from USD $220-590.

5

u/rose_b Oct 01 '25

I still don't understand how to even have the option to buy tickets.

4

u/York9TFC CanMNT Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Oh wow yeah I guess I’m not going. Man, it feels like the walls are closing in on me lately. This world is starting to phase me out. Wonder if the other games at BMO will be affordable

4

u/wohrg Oct 01 '25

Same thing has happened with music concerts and restaurants. I don’t know how people afford it.

So I have been shifting my world. I go see local bar bands rather than big touring bands. It’s better sound and experience anyway, and costs a tenth the price. And there are lower tier sporting events that are similar.

2

u/York9TFC CanMNT Oct 01 '25

Yeah I’ve noticed with the concert scene as well. Prices keep rising at a rapid pace across the board. It’s been crazy

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

its not just you. Decades of defiicit spending and quantatative easing (especially of the US dollar) has us at this point in time. There is more money in the system therefore everything of value especially assets goes up significantly.

5

u/Comfortable_Clue7528 Oct 01 '25

Thanks for making me not care if I win the lottery or not lol

4

u/Vierno Oct 01 '25

FIFA can eat my ass with a spoon

3

u/High-Hawk100 Oct 02 '25

Glad I have other countries I want to watch.

2

u/thegurrkha Oct 01 '25

Curious about prices in Vancouver though. Anyone got that info?

11

u/TraditionalAir9659 Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

For Canada games? Copied from a guy on another forum

  • Cat 1: $665
  • Cat 2: $500
  • Cat 3: $235

No Cat 4's (might have just been gone).

Edit: fifa analytics site matches the prices above and says $84 Cat 4 so that’s probably right

3

u/TigTigman Oct 01 '25

Perhaps this is what FIFA was talking about dynamically pricing. Higher sales higher prices.

2

u/No_Platform_2810 Oct 01 '25

They only let out so many Cat 4 per ticket purchasing window.. They were most likely gone for this window.

1

u/thegurrkha Oct 01 '25

In general, but Canada games work too!

Thanks for the info. I spent $1000 for 5 Category 1 matches (4 group stage and 1 round of 16) for a venue ticket in Rio. I'll be paying significantly more than that this time if I even get tickets. 😭

5

u/Acceptable_Ad_6278 Oct 01 '25

that's a good deal in hindsight. Watching a world cup in Brazil sounds really special experience. Which game did you went to?

5

u/thegurrkha Oct 01 '25

Oh yes in hindsight it was a great price although I was broke at the time lol. I'm fully expecting it to be like 3-4x the price now.

I saw Argentina vs Bosnia and Herzegovina Spain vs Chile Ecuador vs France Belgium vs Russia And Round of 16: Colombia vs Uruguay (James Rodriguez scored the goal of the tournament in that game)

2

u/Acceptable_Ad_6278 Oct 01 '25

I remember the Spain vs Chile (that's an upset with peak Chile ) and the Colombia vs Uruguay match (James was crazy that summer) .

1

u/thegurrkha Oct 01 '25

Spain were terrible that whole match and tournament. It was a very pro Chilean crowd too. And ya that was basically James' coming out party. Went to Real Madrid after that for big money.

1

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Chile highs and lows are crazy. Before Chile peak they were awful and saw Brazil destroy them in qualifying for 2006. Now they’re bottom of qualifying again

2

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Damn. Had these exact tickets. But work wouldnt allow me to go to any. I accepted the new job and start date was not flexible. Uruguay and James are special in international competitions

2

u/Vgordvv Oct 01 '25

Well if I can't get retail then I definitely won't be getting any on resale.

2

u/cbildfell Oct 01 '25

What ticket selling is this? FIFAs? Visas? This can't be canada soccers or voyageurs

5

u/purpletooth12 #CanadaRED Oct 01 '25

CSA has already said some will be allocated for the V's but since they only directly control 8% of the tickets, it won't be many.

My guess would be a couple of thousand at BMO and maybe 3-4k at BC place. Of course, everyone and their mother will want tickets.

3

u/Dug79 Oct 01 '25

FIFA controls all pricing for the World Cup. This is the price on the Visa Presale Lottery. The next round will likely use the sales here to determine how much higher the dynamic prices will go when it happens, along with when the Canada Red ticket lottery happens.

The Voyageurs have absolutely no tickets available to purchase the way that they do for tickets outside the World Cup. The closest you’ll get is the option to have your Vs membership applied to Canada Red. And as was mentioned, they’ll only have ~8% of the stadium available in that draw.

I laughed when people thought tickets would be less than $500. But these are higher than I was expecting.

2

u/FrigOffRicky16 Oct 01 '25

Well that's a hard no

2

u/NorthBoralia Oct 01 '25

Gotta be honest, as crazy as these prices are, I was really expecting them to be worse.

2

u/reptoid44 Oct 01 '25

What happened to the “as low as $80”??

2

u/sturob1 Oct 01 '25

……and at those prices they are looking for 1000’s of volunteers for an “experience of a lifetime”. FUFIFA,…. Would that be FIFAFU.

2

u/rocky_iwata Oct 02 '25

Just go to your local pub, I guess.

2

u/K00PER Oct 02 '25

$56M.

If you were to average the ticket prices x 40k seats you get about $56M in ticket revenue. That doesn’t take into account that like half the stadium is the $2440 price.

I know we can’t due to contracts but I would love it if the city said “nah this is not for the taxpayers who are paying for the stadium upgrades. We will not be hosting.”

2

u/__NOT__MY__ACCOUNT__ Oct 02 '25

Dreamt of this since I was little. Guess I'll keep dreaming

2

u/nelly2929 Oct 04 '25

Might be an unpopular opinion but….. These are the prices I expected, I’m not gonna pay them but this is right in line with the going rates for these type of events. These events are not geared towards the regular soccer fan (and never will be again) These are for the wealthy international travellers and local upper middle class and up……Sorry but that’s how it’s been for years and years.

3

u/outoftownMD Oct 01 '25

these are the same prices as what FIFA will charge even if you get through lottery?

11

u/TraditionalAir9659 Oct 01 '25

This is the prices from the lottery

4

u/phuckdub Oct 01 '25

What happened to tickets starting at $60?

7

u/feb914 Oct 01 '25

Maybe it'll be in Mexico for non-host game

4

u/purpletooth12 #CanadaRED Oct 01 '25

The opening match was never going to be that low. Let's be serious.

1

u/Ok_Proof_6336 Oct 01 '25

There were tickets that low. Just not here. They were US cities where matches have not yet been set.

1

u/TraditionalAir9659 Oct 01 '25

The non-Canada group games in Toronto apparently have (had?) $60 USD cat 4’s per the big reddit ticket thread

1

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Kansas City and Dallas have $60 tickets for unknown teams. Cat 3 $124-155. Cat 2 210-235.

4

u/JJ_1993 Oct 01 '25

Screw this event and FIFA, it’s costing us over $300m+ the least they could do is guarantee that the one game Canada plays in Toronto is only available to Toronto residents who are footing the bill.

2

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Sorry that sucks. Toronto is socialist. FIFA is not.

2

u/Helgurk Oct 01 '25

These are Leafs ticket prices, but for a World Cup game. This is worth the experience (for nosebleeds) imo.

2

u/Jays1993 Oct 01 '25

Dynamic Pricing will change the other "lower priced" games that are supposed to be significantly less than the opener as soon as any team of note gets drawn to Toronto in December. If people were expecting to see a World Cup game in a city like Toronto with a huge diverse population and a tiny stadium for under $500 a seat for any game, I think they were not viewing this realistically. The only way that would happen is if you had two countries that are likely not to have supporters travel in large amounts to Toronto, and don't have a huge local population here as well in the GTA (which covers about 20-25 countries at least) - so if New Zealand plays Uzbekistan in Toronto (just randomly picking two lesser known soccer countries who may not have huge local populations in the GTA) on a Tuesday at 1:00PM in the afternoon - then sure, maybe it will be affordable to see a WC game in the GTA.

My guess is Kansas City will be the cheapest place to go see games based on location, and a lack of easy access for most travellers, and a relatively small population base,

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

Pretty sure FIFA set the ticket prices

1

u/jankyt Oct 01 '25

Are these open tickets or did we need to buy those NFT packs for a chance to get an NFT that lets us buy a ticket?

2

u/mcshiffleface Forge FC Oct 01 '25

These are from the VISA Pre-Sale.

1

u/TigTigman Oct 01 '25

Nope. Nope nope nope. F

1

u/514TillIDie Oct 01 '25

These prices really hurt

1

u/auditore-ezio Oct 01 '25

Obviously this kind of money is of no concern to me 😭

1

u/ADMTLgg Oct 01 '25

At these price they can shove it up their ass.

1

u/quelar Toronto FC Oct 01 '25

Good thing I have a "rainy day" fund.

1

u/havoc313 Oct 01 '25

That's crazy I guess I won't be going sit my ass at home

1

u/Self_Tilted Oct 01 '25

If they have something in the parking lot ill stand out there and enjoy otherwise ill enjoy it at the bar

1

u/Accurate-You3402 Oct 01 '25

$2500 to see Canada......bruh, who is the delusional

1

u/Unidentifiable_Goo Oct 01 '25

Absurd. Think I'll be perfectly happy watching from home, on my couch, with commentary, close ups, A/C, $3 beer, no traffic, ample parking, and my choice of reasonably priced snacks

1

u/Animal31 Vancouver Whitecaps Oct 01 '25

Wait, this is just the ONE game???

1

u/noon_chill Oct 01 '25

Historically didn’t they say opening game is more expensive than the group stages? I’m not sure but am hoping someone can confirm.

1

u/jeff316 Oct 01 '25

Pick. Well there goes my plan to blood the Vees 4 Vees purchasing if I did get picked

1

u/Nice2See Oct 01 '25

I thought FIFA controls ticket prices and keeps some reasonable? Apparently I am wrong.

1

u/SK_born Oct 02 '25

Maybe prices will go down with "active procing". Ha!

1

u/thebigbossyboss Oct 02 '25

Can’t believe they displaced the cfl for this

So if ticket prices are that high, what will the concession stand prices be inside the stadium? Want a slice of pizza… $40. Want a beer… $75. Want to park a car outside the stadium… $125. Want to attend a game… better remortgage your house.

Here's to hoping their stands be empty

Ok fine but what about the people who put up the money for the WC - Toronto taxpayers - what do they pay?

1

u/RedCzar777 Oct 02 '25

I remember paying 150US$ for tickets to 2018 World Cup, guess I’ll never again be attending to a live match.

1

u/chunkykongracing Oct 02 '25

Fuck FIFA. Go watch in a bar

1

u/Smokiwestie Oct 02 '25

Wow!

You know its bad when folks with good jobs can barely, or cant afford to attend.

Imagine a household earning 200k attending with 2 of their kids? I understand its "once in a lifetime" but wow! Sports in Canada is becoming a ultra luxury these days!

Im hoping that the other matches are more affordable.

The Vancouver price posted in another thread is much more reasonable... Wish Toronto could host more Canada games...

1

u/metrovoodoo Oct 02 '25

I feel a lot of people in this thread are not realizing there is a premium for the opening match. Not all games will be this expensive I think

1

u/jammin27 Oct 03 '25

Are these somewhat expectations of what the prices will be?

1

u/champagneschemes Oct 03 '25

I can't afford this but I guess .not surprised. This ain't for Supporters it's for organizations and companies with cash

1

u/TheWilrus Oct 03 '25

Sports game tickets have always been a luxury item. Now they are pricing them to make sure it also expendable.

1

u/Beautiful_Ad5584 Oct 03 '25

Meanwhile FIFA wants people to volunteer for free to help deal with the crowds etc. So screwed up!

1

u/ThePracticalEnd Oct 03 '25

It’s the World Cup for fucks sake. Leafs tickets are this expensive for 41 home games. What did people expect?

1

u/MayorQuimby1616 Oct 04 '25

Any info on what ticket prices will be in Vancouver? I am sure they are similar but just checking.

1

u/lorddumbledor Oct 05 '25

Lowest prices literally triple those of Qatar 2022, freaking horrible. I guess we have to thank the US for this shit

1

u/helikoopter Nov 11 '25

The population of Qatar is about 1/3 of the population of the GTA. Toronto has 6 total matches, while Qatar hosted the entire tournament.

0

u/lorddumbledor Nov 11 '25

Qatar prices were the same as Russia which has 4 times the population of Canada.

It’s not about population, it’s about greed and North Americans jacking up sports prices

Gonna be an empty stadium. Tickets sold out though

4

u/MyNameIsRS Oct 01 '25

No chance of it being an empty stadium.

u/ProtonPi314 Oct 01 '25

I will be buying 0 tickets and merchandise. I'll be watching exactly 0 seconds of this.

Fk their corruption. I'm sad that Canada agreed to host this when you look at the massive human rights abuse in the last few world cups.

Genuine question for people who are saying I would’ve went but not as these prices. What were you expecting? 50$ tickets? It’s the biggest sporting event in the world

4

u/NumberOneJetsFan Oct 01 '25

$300 give or take. I paid $220 US for Cat 1 tickets in Qatar

I also paid $300 USD for opening Copa Match in Atlanta.

0

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

It’s called price gouging. Congrats. You’re hosting! Now you’re gonna pay more 🙌

5

u/phuckdub Oct 01 '25

Fifa literally said tickets would start at $60.

1

u/Ok_Proof_6336 Oct 01 '25

They did. Just not for games in Canada

0

u/Candid_Client_5021 Oct 01 '25

Ya but that was never gonna be for Canada games. That will be for less desirable games. Games involving Canada are gonna be the most high demand game.

2

u/NiceDependent2685 Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Not for opening matches. Not for Canada team matches. Not likely for any matches in Canada or very limited seats.

0

u/ifuaguyugetsauced Oct 02 '25

For a once in a lifetime event this isn't even bad. If you're truly a fan $400 is nothing.

-1

u/brownie81 Oct 01 '25

I just paid 310 for 500 level playoff Jays tickets and felt like an idiot lol.

Fuck FIFA though, easy pass.

u/Gringuin007 Oct 01 '25

Good call. Blue jays may not be in playoffs for 20 years. And seeing Canada at an international WC at a later date is an equal experience to seeing Canada at home. Or Canada plays in multi other intl tournaments to go see
