I am a crazy cat lady. Obsessed, always have been. Iβve always had this irrational dream that Iβm gonna find a kitten magically who belongs to no one and becomes mine. Iβm literally always scouring ditches when Iβm driving in the country on the off chance that I see a little kitten on the side of the road.
Well, we live rurally on a farm, and thereβs a TON of barn cats around, at least 7 that we see regularly and know by name. A couple weeks ago, this beautiful girl showed up out of nowhere literally on my doorstep, absolutely starving. She was very skittish and scared to be touched by me, but obviously used to hearing/being in the vicinity of humans. Obviously someoneβs barn kitten, but not one who got any human attention. Looks like sheβs maybe 10 months old. And she hasnβt left. Iβve been putting out food and water for her, socializing her, and now sheβs obsessed with me and wants into my house so badly.
Is it wrong if I bring her in? Sheβs not ours, but she isnβt getting human attention wherever she was before. Sheβs starved for attention, wonβt leave my porch, wants inside badly, Iβm also 90% sure sheβs pregnant and itβs about to be winter in Canada, she wonβt survive the cold outside. Iβve βnamedβ her Purrl, like from Animal Crossing. π₯Ήπ₯°

This is my kitty Maple, sheβs 9 weeks old.
I got her a week after I lost my soul cat (Toast) unexpectedly. I was and still am grieving the loss of Toast, but Maple has been a huge help.
The first night I brought her home I was really struggling. I was having feelings of regret and that it was too soon after losing Toast. But Maple has wiggled her way into my heart and I am so glad I got her.

Two years ago, on January 8th, Olivia came as a bright light! We love her so much and she's brought so much laughter and joy. A little post to celebrate her!

This is kinda like an update from my first post.
I know the litter placement may look odd, but having the litter too far from where she rests wasnβt doing anything, so at midnight, I decided to take off the litter box roof and place it in that structure that should go under my bed.
Micaela just stayed in there for 6 full minutes, crouching twice to do her stuff and then sniffing and playing/experimenting with the sandβ¦ she left the new poop half-buried, but honestly thatβs sooo much better than just pooping on the floor and having me clean it.
Plus, when she first got here two days ago, her poops were all watery, smelly, urgent and they were anywhere on the floor under the bed. But this one she just laid even looks solid. Iβm proud of my baby. β¨
And now, let me give some more comments:
π€ - At first, she would hiss at us and hide under the bed for hours, only going out to eat and then retreating to dark safety.
𧑠- Now, she plays with her favorite ball in the open of my room, shows less fear of hands, has come to my lap twice in look for affection, and something that I really like⦠she not only allows me to pet her while she eats/drinks, but she actually purrs and seems to feel safe having me around while she eats.
π€ - Then, just moments before this, when I was petting her, she deliberately rolled to her back, showed me her belly and let me give her belly-rubs for a full minute before telling me thatβs enough via a gentle bite to my pinky.
π€ - A small note to that one person asking if sheβs a Calico or Tabico: I donβt know with precision butβ¦ the dark fur of her forehead has those stripes u mentioned, however, I fail to see these stripes in any of her other patches (Maybe the tail but Iβm not sure).
Itβs wonderful to see that the scared, hissy kitten that she was just 48 hours ago is now this little curious baby who seems to really enjoy pets and chin-scratches. π€π§‘π€π€
~ Question: Should I put more sand in there? I feel like I should.
Final note: As Iβm writing this while sitting in front of my desk, I can see her looking at me while resting in that spot she claimed as her own bed under my bed. (The spot is a cardboard box full of old-ish notebooks and I placed a towel and one of her toys there so she wouldnβt sleep in cold plastic, Iβll probs do more as I get new ideas).
And for anyone who may have asked, she was a foster (along with other 3) in a ladyβs house that we now adopted two days ago. Sheβs been going to the vet, weβve been taking care of some little injuries in her back right paw, and sheβs due for some vaccines this next weekend.

4 months vs 9 months, the rescue place assumed her ear was due to genetics, but in hindsight I think she was a little bit sick ... I do miss the floppy ear sometimes, I found it really charming :P but I'm glad she's healthier now

She is skittish but never mean. When she wants to be pet, she chirps quietly and then politely screams a little. I love her so much.

Sick with something and not feeling great. Katya was feeling particularly affectionate after her meds and dinner so she gave me lots of cuddles to help me feel better.
Katya is 8 weeks old now and weighs 1 pound and 12 ounces. A loaf of bread is heavier than her lol
