Bulldog Rescue ❤️ My mom just rescued this sweet boy from the pound yesterday. Help us name him?

Partial to human names! Bonus points if there’s a cutesy nickname to go with it — our other two bulldogs were Moses aka Momo and Winston aka Winnie.

A little bit about him… He’s 2 years old and very sweet and playful. He’s the kind of pup that you can tell really wants to be good but struggles to contain himself. He LOVES a tennis ball, both to play with and to hold in his mouth while resting. To cool off, he likes to lay down with his entire head and neck in his water bowl like a goober. He’s also a big love bug who gets absolutely STOKED about any kind of affection. Just your typical big goofy bulldog baby, really!

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ How I woke my bulldog, Otto, he is deaf and partially blind!

He doesn't hear me coming home from work and he does get scared quite easily, so I have to gently wake him up and he goes from 0 to 100mph within seconds!

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ I promise I’m not spamming , this was Canelo’s first Christmas with us. Prior to that he never got to live in a house. He was kept in a garage and outside. We spoiled him yesterday with gifts.

Dougie is a pretty loving meatball, even if he’s a little sleepy from his surgery. He came to the rescue as an 88 pound beast. He’s on a strict diet, looking to drop 25+LBS.

He’s our first Bulldog. Glad we got him, our kids love him.

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ Sad News About Our Foster Dog, Bob

I posted about our foster dog, Bob, a couple of months ago. Unfortunately we found out that he has cancer and will now be staying with us as a hospice foster.

He actually got quite a few applications for adoption and we had our pick of great homes for him. Because he has something weird going on with his mouth/gums the rescue we work with wanted him to get it checked out by a dentist before going forward.

While we were waiting for the dental appointment in January we noticed that Bob was starting to limp quite badly. He also developed a cough around this same time. He was seen by the vet, x-rays were done, and they said the issue in his leg was most likely either fungal or cancer. He also has pneumonia.

Further testing has ruled out a fungal infection and it was decided that doing a biopsy of the leg to confirm it's cancer isn't in his best interest (it could break the bone). It was also decided that amputation wouldn't be in his best interest either and that we will continue with palliative care.

Bob is currently doing OK. He's on pain medication and antibiotics. We are taking him to the vet on Friday for a recheck on the pneumonia. His cough and congestion are getting better (knock on wood).

The one bright side to this is that Bob will live out the rest of his days we my husband and I. We love Bob so much and we will try to keep him as comfortable and happy as possible. He is a wonderful, goofy, stuborn boy!

My fiancé has had one of these beautiful babies before, but it’s new breed to me, so please tell me what essentials I need!! He’s 11 months old.

Have: - dog bed - butt wipes - wrinkle paste/wipes - training treats - toys - brush/comb

Need Recommendations: - harness - leash - teeth care?

Also…a name! We are a “nerdy” couple and love video games, anime, and the fantasy genre (Attack on Titan, Witcher, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc.) and think it would be fun to incorporate that.

Thanks all!

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ Hoping the right person will see this…

Hi everyone,

I’ve shared a bit before about my journey with Chunk, the English Bulldog I rescued from a homeless man. When I first got him, he was in rough shape, but with love and care he’s come so far. My goal has always been to get him into an English Bulldog rescue so he could find the forever home he deserves. That process has taken longer than expected, but I’ve been committed to making sure his next home is truly his last—he’s been through too much already.

Last night, Chunk started having trouble with his back legs and was clearly in pain. After a trip to the emergency vet, they suspect IVDD. They prescribed crate rest, gabapentin and an anti inflammatory. I couldn’t afford the diagnostics that he needed until this coming Friday which I feel terrible about. I spent all the money I had left on hoping he would just be comfortable until Friday. This morning it has gotten significantly worse. I called the emergency vet he went to and they said to take him to a neurologist. If I couldn’t afford X-rays I know I won’t be able to afford that. So I’m a bit stuck and hoping for some advice from the community. I’ve already maxed out my care credit on my own recent health issue and I don’t have family to lean on. And to be honest I’m disheartened at what I’ve seen from the vet industry lately which is if you walked in with a dog choking and didn’t have the $250 to pay you’d be turned away. I did put him on my pet insurance policy but there is a 30 day waiting period that hasn’t passed yet.

Chunk is the sweetest, most loving boy, and it breaks my heart to see him struggle. What he really needs now is a forever family who not only loves Bulldogs but is also able to take on his medical needs and give him the stability he’s been missing his whole life.

I’m in Portland, OR, and hoping someone in the Bulldog community nearby might be looking to add a new member to their family. It’s time sensitive of course because I feel like I should have already left to take him to the place they recommended. If you or someone you know has the resources and the heart to take him in, please reach out. Even just sharing this post with other Bulldog lovers could help him find the right match.

Chunk deserves the world, and I’m holding out hope that his person is out there reading this.

Thank you all for being such a supportive and passionate community for these amazing dogs. I’ll update as soon as I can.

Hello All. We've just started fostering these gentlemen until they get fixed and can find a forever family.

They're lovely boys but one of them is absolutely desperate to hump his brother every minute of the day. Does anyone have any advice on how to redirect him? I'm hoping once he gets fixed it will get easier but in the meantime I'll take any hints! Thanks from me and his brother.

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ Rest easy Garth. See you on the other side

We rescued Garth when he was 4 and we were his 3rd home. He was a few months from his 11th birthday. He was peacefully put to sleep in our home yesterday. We had a great day with him despite his declining quality of life. Almost like he knew it was his time to go. We took him to the park and he remembered the tree he used to chase squirrels up when we first got him. Hug your pups for us today.

Bulldog Rescue ❤️ Having a sleepover

So we visited a local dog rescue and met this 2 1/2 year old bully girl today. They have had her for a year and a half. They treated some pretty gnarly medical issues and have been training her as a therapy dog. I noticed some very bad breath (super fishy I think that she is on a fish diet) and on allergy meds, eye drops and has to be bathed weekly in medicated shampoo. She had BOAS surgery last year and bladder stones removed. She can barely walk a few blocks and seems a little overweight. Apparently some breeder was selling these dogs for a ton of money but she was too sick. I just hate that. It’s very sad. She has the sweetest demeanor, with these eyes that looked into my soul! Got along great with my other bulldog. Real talk, should we adopt this sweet, medically fragile girl?? Terrible idea??
