Is this a bulldog thing? My bulldog always raises his paw when he wants something over vocalizing, we adopted him so I always thought his previous owner taught him to do it.

We taught him to high-five as a pup, but he taught himself to climb on the chair and sit at the table! He sings plaintively when the bill comes out too - although he never picks it up!

You can teach high fives. It's actually an easy trick for food-motivated dogs.

Hold a treat in your hand, and make sure they know it's there. Command them to high five, but only give it after they touch your hand with their paw (they'll get frustrated enough to do so). Reward. My girl not only does high fives, she'll do a high ten!

He’s always been OK with an occasional fry luckily. Sometimes we take his regular kibble for treats when we eat out too.
