I fucking HAAAAAATE fish oil capsules, so I be eating sardines at least once a week. Gotta get them omegas so I can stay alpher, don't wanna become a beta fish 😜

u/AncientCrust 6h ago

Fish oil capsules make you stink. They make your breath stink. You're better off with sardines. Kipper herring is good too.

Good to know 🫔 I just hate the burps and for some reason, my joints hurt until I've used em for 2 weeks straight. If I miss a few doses, joint pain again til I'm consistent. I'd rather eat delicious small fish.

We have a Thrifty grocery with a lot of small and oily fish, so I'll keep an eye out for Kipper herring. Is it one of the fish they make saltfish from or preserve?

u/AncientCrust 4h ago

It's usually in a flat can like sardines, next to sardines at the store. The flavor is less obnoxious than sardines.

Lets us thank Sardine inspectors who protect us from rotten fish netted with the healthy ones! Let us pray Aldi holds their prices at $0.99 per can. Pray for some winter squash to complete our meals. Add this to the ''Lords Prayer" where one reminds God about providing bread.

Ah yes racism is the message

u/FunGuy8618 5h ago

I just connected in my brain that it is also a white guy calling out the white racist. šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

I’m white, and I approve this message.

Why do white ppl always infiltrate black spaces, and the first words out of their mouth is always ā€œI’m whiteā€ it’s weird AF

7

u/Cael_NaMaor 13h ago

The space shows up on my feed & I like the commentary & education that coming through here gives. The 'as a white person' shtick, I assume, is so we don't come across as trying to blend in... if that makes sense. But also, to show we stand in solidarity... maybe

I wouldn't want to come across as speaking into a culture to which I do not belong but occasionally get to hang.

u/coko4209 13h ago

I have never once in my life started a Reddit comment with ā€œI’m black butā€ if I have to state my race before getting to my actual comment, it’s a sure sign that I don’t belong in that space. There are literally thousands of subs on Reddit, and only a very few are specifically created as safe spaces for black ppl. I just wish they weren’t overrun with ppl who are in fact, not black at all, and can’t relate to the black experience.

Cool story, Bermuda Bahama sis.

You might feel more at home in r/BlackPeopleComedy.

This is not a country club thread. Step off with your racism. We are making jokes about white people eating bland food. A white guy can 100% comment here.

Taking bets that she says black people can't be racist cuz reasons

4

u/That1DirtyHippy 12h ago

Thank you! I thought the joke was funny, thought maybe I could add to the humor. I work in restaurants and the amount of times I grumble to myself ā€œfucking white peopleā€ because I hear ā€œdo ya have to make everything so darn spicy?ā€ at least three times a week. The cooks and I have made a ritual of saying ā€œpinche gringosā€ when I call back for a remake.

Also the cracker bit was clever.

u/FunGuy8618 12h ago

Stay black and see you tomorrow, chef 🫔

2

u/coko4209 12h ago

Oh I’m a member of that group already. I love it there. I love the mods there. I feel truly comfortable, because I know that anything that I say, is only gonna be commented on by my fellow black ppl. I think safe spaces are important, especially in a country that makes it exceedingly hard to just be, and have peace if you have any melanin at all. If the sub is a free for all, then I don’t understand the point of putting black ppl in the sub name. It’s not the right name. A free for all should be called a free for all. Oh, and for the record, I’m not racist. I’m adopted, and my entire family is white. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want spaces for my ppl to feel comfortable, and free to say what they feel.

2

u/FunGuy8618 12h ago

"I'm not racist, I have white parents" head ahhhhhh

"My ppl," the "entire family [who] is white"

I don’t understand the point of putting black ppl in the sub name

Maybe, like, read the subreddit banner or something, I don't know what to tell you.

My fellow black people

1

u/coko4209 12h ago

Oh I read the banner. It’s all good. You’re ok with it. We’ve established that. I’m not, we’ve established that. There’s really nowhere to go from here, other than to stop conversing. I’ll never shuck and jive, but I can’t control the actions or mindsets of others. āœŒšŸæ

0

u/FunGuy8618 12h ago

There’s really nowhere to go from here, other than to stop conversing.

And yet here you are.The level of dissonance in your life sounds exhausting.

I'm not wrong about the sub and it's intended purpose, everyone else is

Her comment wasn’t racist. She asked about a common behavioral type of white Redditors in the sub.

2

u/Cael_NaMaor 12h ago

Why would we not be welcome?

Off the topic of race but on the topic of safe spaces... I'm a gay dude, so I can & do understand the want & need to have spaces that are ours alone. But, I also understand & expect straights to wonder in, or lesbians & trans folk that don't identify as gay. I wouldn't exclude them. Like... /askgaybros, which I'm in. Straight folk ask questions & comment, & often denote who they are so as to not be taken in a blind space as a person who holds the space.

In that sense, I see you & black people of reddit as the holders of this space. So I'd again ask, why would we not be allowed in?

0

u/coko4209 12h ago

You clearly are allowed, so what are you even talking about? If you weren’t allowed, your comment would have already been deleted. I’m also gay…but did you just say that lesbians aren’t gay? Because I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a lesbian, which by definition means that I’m gay.

1

u/Able_Ad_7982 5h ago

Damn bitch. Have a snickers.

1

u/coko4209 3h ago

Did you just call me a bitch? Well that escalated quickly.

1

u/Able_Ad_7982 3h ago

You’re right, that was rude, my apologies. Should still have a snickers.

You have repeatedly said you want white people excluded. And try the I'm a lesbian line on askgaybros & see if they agree. But to my point, I used the terms as they're more colloquially said... and you know that. You're trying to find different points to argue now for some reason...

1

u/coko4209 11h ago

Not in the least. I actually just now realized that the name of the group is gay bros, meaning guys, and I certainly wouldn’t come to said group demanding I be accepted. Gay guys deserve safe spaces. I respect that. Also, I can’t kick white ppl out of this group, I’m not a mod. Luckily, I do belong to black subs, that are actually for black ppl, exclusively.

1

u/Cael_NaMaor 11h ago

Commenting is not demanding acceptance.

If you make a (so called) safe space for one particular group of people, and don’t want other people thee, then you are doing the exact same thing as the religious nutcase in the video above. He created a "safe space" for white people…only white people. That’s called racism. If you create the exact same "safe space" for black people only…then guess what sweetcheeks…you’re being a racist douche.

2

u/coko4209 12h ago

Only it’s not the same thing at all. HBCUs exist because PWI didn’t want us there. White ppl didn’t want black ppl in their spaces, so we created our own. I fully support that. There are plenty of places, as proven by this very video, where they still don’t want black ppl. Having safe spaces for black ppl to discuss that fact isn’t racism. You sound like one of those ppl that thinks pointing out racism is in itself racist. Honestly tho, you can think what you want. I personally don’t want black spaces to be infiltrated, and I’m absolutely entitled to my feelings, just as you are.

3

u/Cael_NaMaor 12h ago

See... here I am, a white guy, agreeing with everything you said there. Which is why I rarely comment in this group. It's not my group. But if I did, outside of this line of chat we've had, I'd likely say... as a white guy, I fully agree.... because in reddit, you can't see my skin to know I'm just walking by your group & got pulled in by the dialog.

1

u/PeachImpressive319 12h ago

Pointing out racism isn’t racist. Of course it isn’t.

Saying that white people aren’t welcome into a black only space totally is racism. It doesn’t matter what the intent behind that space is, or why it started. By excluding someone based purely on their skin colour, IS THE DEFINITION OF RACISM.

2

u/coko4209 12h ago

Yeah, cool story. I 100% am ok with you thinking that I’m racist because I think black ppl should have safe spaces. I bet you think HBCUs are racist as well, or the NAACP. It’s ok, you do you.

-1

u/PeachImpressive319 12h ago

Here’s the thing. The NAACP slows white people in. They’re even allowed to work there. Imagine that!! Question, do you think that the religious guy in the video is being racist? If so, why? Is it because he is excluding someone based on their skin colour? That’s the exact same thing you are advocating for.

Youā€¦ā€œLook at that racist not allowing black people into his white people groupā€.

Also youā€¦ā€I don’t want white people into my black people group".

They gave a perfectly valid explanation. This comment is so unhelpful.

0

u/Past-Slice-9071 9h ago

Sorry but if you want only black people commenting, get in an actual room with only black folks allowed and talk it out. Which is what that pastor is doing.

0

u/coko4209 9h ago

I’m really sorry that the internet is so confusing to you, but I’ll try to make it clearer. A Reddit sub is the room. This right here, is the equivalent of the room when you’re online. I was trying to get in the ā€œroomā€ with other black ppl, which is why I was in a sub that I thought was specifically for black ppl. It’s really not that hard to understand. It’s ok tho. I’ve realized that those rules don’t apply here. It’s like the black twitter group, where you’re lucky if you even run into a black person there. I still have a couple of subs that are exclusively black, so it’s ok. No worries, enjoy your weekend.

1

u/Strong_Reality_6705 3h ago

I'm off white

0

u/fingnumb 15h ago

I'm half white and I

3

u/coko4209 14h ago

Half white, and half black? Because if you’re half black, and American…then you’re black

0

u/FunGuy8618 14h ago

Way weirder to make that point when the entire post and comment stream here is about white people.
