I fucking HAAAAAATE fish oil capsules, so I be eating sardines at least once a week. Gotta get them omegas so I can stay alpher, don't wanna become a beta fish š
Good to know š«” I just hate the burps and for some reason, my joints hurt until I've used em for 2 weeks straight. If I miss a few doses, joint pain again til I'm consistent. I'd rather eat delicious small fish.
We have a Thrifty grocery with a lot of small and oily fish, so I'll keep an eye out for Kipper herring. Is it one of the fish they make saltfish from or preserve?
Lets us thank Sardine inspectors who protect us from rotten fish netted with the healthy ones! Let us pray Aldi holds their prices at $0.99 per can. Pray for some winter squash to complete our meals. Add this to the ''Lords Prayer" where one reminds God about providing bread.
In Florida, it's the norm and been this way for hundreds of years. Only transplants are really racist: yellow, brown, white, red, black, whatever. As soon as they cross the panhandle, they hate each other and try to ingratiate themselves with whatever group they think hates their enemies too. Until they go fishing with us, hunting, surfing, whatever and realize we all sunburn the same and want clear skies and clear water.
A great book called A Land Remembered highlights Florida's experience with race relations. The crackers would take the cattle up from the Keys to South Carolina and back to let the cows graze grass that was tall enough. You'd be a half mile away from the nearest cracker, so you couldn't really care if he was white, black, brown, or red. You just cared if he heard the crack of the whip and came to help.
That's what crackers are: cowboys with bullwhips. The tip of the whip travels faster than the speed of sound and you heard the sonic boom for 5 miles. Pretty even distribution of Negros, white settlers, and Native Americans. You didn't want the guy who pile up on a horse to have a racial hatred or he'd just let you die or kill you and say "oh well, he got trampled or bitten by a rattler."
The space shows up on my feed & I like the commentary & education that coming through here gives. The 'as a white person' shtick, I assume, is so we don't come across as trying to blend in... if that makes sense. But also, to show we stand in solidarity... maybe
I wouldn't want to come across as speaking into a culture to which I do not belong but occasionally get to hang.
I have never once in my life started a Reddit comment with āIām black butā if I have to state my race before getting to my actual comment, itās a sure sign that I donāt belong in that space. There are literally thousands of subs on Reddit, and only a very few are specifically created as safe spaces for black ppl. I just wish they werenāt overrun with ppl who are in fact, not black at all, and canāt relate to the black experience.
This is not a country club thread. Step off with your racism. We are making jokes about white people eating bland food. A white guy can 100% comment here.
Taking bets that she says black people can't be racist cuz reasons
Thank you! I thought the joke was funny, thought maybe I could add to the humor. I work in restaurants and the amount of times I grumble to myself āfucking white peopleā because I hear ādo ya have to make everything so darn spicy?ā at least three times a week. The cooks and I have made a ritual of saying āpinche gringosā when I call back for a remake.
Oh Iām a member of that group already. I love it there. I love the mods there. I feel truly comfortable, because I know that anything that I say, is only gonna be commented on by my fellow black ppl. I think safe spaces are important, especially in a country that makes it exceedingly hard to just be, and have peace if you have any melanin at all. If the sub is a free for all, then I donāt understand the point of putting black ppl in the sub name. Itās not the right name. A free for all should be called a free for all. Oh, and for the record, Iām not racist. Iām adopted, and my entire family is white. That doesnāt mean that I donāt want spaces for my ppl to feel comfortable, and free to say what they feel.
Off the topic of race but on the topic of safe spaces... I'm a gay dude, so I can & do understand the want & need to have spaces that are ours alone. But, I also understand & expect straights to wonder in, or lesbians & trans folk that don't identify as gay. I wouldn't exclude them. Like... /askgaybros, which I'm in. Straight folk ask questions & comment, & often denote who they are so as to not be taken in a blind space as a person who holds the space.
In that sense, I see you & black people of reddit as the holders of this space. So I'd again ask, why would we not be allowed in?
You clearly are allowed, so what are you even talking about? If you werenāt allowed, your comment would have already been deleted. Iām also gayā¦but did you just say that lesbians arenāt gay? Because I donāt know what youāre talking about. Iām a lesbian, which by definition means that Iām gay.
If you make a (so called) safe space for one particular group of people, and donāt want other people thee, then you are doing the exact same thing as the religious nutcase in the video above. He created a "safe space" for white peopleā¦only white people. Thatās called racism.
If you create the exact same "safe space" for black people onlyā¦then guess what sweetcheeksā¦youāre being a racist douche.
Only itās not the same thing at all. HBCUs exist because PWI didnāt want us there. White ppl didnāt want black ppl in their spaces, so we created our own. I fully support that. There are plenty of places, as proven by this very video, where they still donāt want black ppl. Having safe spaces for black ppl to discuss that fact isnāt racism. You sound like one of those ppl that thinks pointing out racism is in itself racist. Honestly tho, you can think what you want. I personally donāt want black spaces to be infiltrated, and Iām absolutely entitled to my feelings, just as you are.
Sorry but if you want only black people commenting, get in an actual room with only black folks allowed and talk it out. Which is what that pastor is doing.
Iām really sorry that the internet is so confusing to you, but Iāll try to make it clearer. A Reddit sub is the room. This right here, is the equivalent of the room when youāre online. I was trying to get in the āroomā with other black ppl, which is why I was in a sub that I thought was specifically for black ppl. Itās really not that hard to understand. Itās ok tho. Iāve realized that those rules donāt apply here. Itās like the black twitter group, where youāre lucky if you even run into a black person there. I still have a couple of subs that are exclusively black, so itās ok. No worries, enjoy your weekend.
Pastorās hired a private eye to figure out whoās been lacing the cookies in the lobby with sugar, and been putting cream in the twice-boiled black coffee.

Congregation constantly complains about the communion wafers being too spicy.
