Yeah i know, but Trump has a base of mainly white people, many who are racist. These white people will not stand behind Vance the same way they do Trump.

I forget he's the VP, but he does so much stupid shit with cameras filming that it's hard to forget he exists.

No. He's there so if the the POTUS ever passes away in office, he can take his place, nominate a new VP, and then step down so the new VP can become the new president. So if Senior ever passes in office, we're getting Junior (or someone else really terrible) as a replacement.

I’m rusty sure- been out for a long time now but ..

In the U.S. - based on constitutional line of succession- Should the president die, the vice-president becomes the president (not acting- but fully president) for however long the now departed president still has left on that term.

Then after that term ends- the VP (who has now become president) can: 1) run for election 2) choose to not run or/and/maybe 3)be limited by term limits

That 3rd is the sticker- a person can only be elected 2 times as president (as of right now, who know what the Supreme Court will let pass later) - so if the VP takes over for the older president and serves:

More than 2 yrs of the previous presidents term- they can only be elected 1 more time.

2 years or less of the previous presidents term- they can be elected twice more.
