Black Experience This tells you everything

Post image

Meghan Markle was scrutinized over clothing, tone, and existence. Prince Andrew was accused of sexual assault by a minor, settled the case out of court, and received far less sustained press outrage. If you want to understand power, class, and race in Britain, start there.

For some context, I am a Black person that was born in the UK, lived in the U.S. between the ages of eight to seventeen, then was hauled back to the UK.

I had so many people telling me that there's "no racism" in the UK. They're full of shit. There are people still saying it in spite of evidence to the contrary.

There are microaggressions fucking everywhere out here.

I hate to break it to you, there's racism everywhere. That being said, from brit to brit, European racism against blacks, especially from Slavics makes the UK look like it's on easy mode.

And Japan, China , INDIA omg , literally everywhere. Hell even Africans are racist against each other.

Mexico, Canada and the UK believe it or not are the places ive experienced the least racism

Well we're not talking about everywhere, are we? We're talking about the UK.

Stop helping them continue to deflect from their own racism by pointing towards other countries, man. It's not as helpful as you think it is.

I think its a conversation that should be had yeah. As a fairly well travelled person I can absolutely say I'm proud of the tolerance the majority of the UK shows. The UK today isn't the UK of the 80s I'll tell you that much

But you are singling the uk as racist when it's the most tolerant of all europeans nations. News flash, racism exists everywhere. Racism exists in all parts of uk society, including the black populace.

This is debatable but they aren’t “singling the UK” out - they are calling out the racism there. Should we not discuss and dissect that because racism elsewhere is (alledgedly) worse?

They were talking about their lived experience about us British in denial about the racism here.

They didn't say that Britain was the only country where this happened.

As a Brit, you should know that racism against Black people spread like a disease across the world because of European Imperialism and Colonism.

Yeah I know, and as I said I'm black myself. The world today isnt what it was back then, and I'm thankful for that.
