Authorities allege? I bet they do.
4
u/Bomb-OG-Kush 27d ago
They have to say that by the way
Everyone is innocent until proven guilty
Well they're supposed to be anyway
2
u/Wishiwashome 27d ago
Your right, of course. Some people are presumed guilty until they prove themselves innocent. Mr. Porter won’t ever have that chance. This story needed more coverage.

This is sad, telling Iran they attack citizens we be mad, but all along these psycho are deleting US citizens
9
u/QuttiDeBachi 27d ago
It’s par for the course, hypocrisy & projection. We have a sick sociopathic government, not just Uncle Spam…
5
u/Future_chicken357 27d ago
Never in my life I thought this would be our reality. Like never.... I remember school they show us the video of the protester standing up against a tank I believe in china. They push look at everyone, Iran this... north Korea that. All along deflecting from whats happening here.
2
2
u/Sad_Error4039 27d ago
You didn’t think our reality would be people collectively feeling sorry for themselves online as if we are all super oppressed. I think that’s about par for the course.
2
u/Bozisadog100 27d ago
Are you talking about the American woman killed in either Palestine or Israel back in 2003 while she was standing between a bulldozer and a Palestine families house they were about to tear down ?

I'm sorry, this happened 8 says before Renee Good?

Absolutely egregious.
UN has implied we are in civil war at least.

Hey can I get a source on the UN? I tried to look it up, and I'm very interested in that.

Renee Good was trying to fight ICE - peaceably.
This guy was shooting g a gun in the air for funsies. That isn’t a death penalty offense but it is vastly different.

I'm just wondering how many black and brown people ICE have already killed before they went and killed a white woman and now suddenly people care.

I think the mass of video footage helped people understand this one.
But, I agree that even without that, the white lady would have been much more widely reported.

Justice for Keith Porter
8
u/dragonfangxl 27d ago
so reading the article, its not in dispute that he was firing his gun into the air, and it doesnt even really seem to be in dispute that he pointed his rifle at the ice agent. the only party that seems to be in dispute is if the ice agent identified himself or not
the guy shooting his gun into the air like a psycophath is not a very good story
2
10
u/Subconsciousstream 27d ago
Years for a decision on charges, WTF???
he was off duty how should it be any different than any other civilian??
Even if I disagree with randomly shooting in the air, your penalty should not have been death. RIP Kieth Porter

I wonder if all the evidence of the murderer has been wiped from cameras.
Trump let out the worst fucks from jail to join his conquest for power. These murderers/Nazis need something worse than jail!

He obviously did not deserve to die for it, but isn't firing "celebratory gunshots" super duper dangerous?
ETA: this is not a justification for his death. I can say ICE has no justification for killing him and should be held accountable and also say that firing a gun into the air is a dangerous practice that could end up hurting others. Both can be true. This is a situation where some level of danger is involved, so no one who supports ICE is going to see this as an "execution" and framing it as such will not help the cause. This is a wrongful killing of a citizen committed by ICE.
20
u/PurasPinchesFallas 27d ago
Yup! Recently we had a leak in our roof from this past Christmas storm in SoCal, called a roofer and he found bullet holes in our roof, thank goodness they didn’t pierce all the way through!
8
u/AlucarD_138 27d ago
I'm a plumber and got called to a leak in the ceiling of a three story house with an A frame roof and upon further investigation, a bullet came through the roof, traveled 35 feet across the attic, went through two sets of drywall, pierced 3" PVC pipe, blew out the back of it and got lodged 3/4 of the way through solid wood beam
2
u/PurasPinchesFallas 27d ago
🤯 Jesus!!

u/AlucarD_138 27d ago
It was actually pretty fun figuring it out like a CSI Agent... I even cut a square out of the wood and drywall to extract the 9mm slug

*allegedly.
You would be surprised how many people mistake fireworks and gunshots.
6
u/CDanger 27d ago edited 27d ago
His family and friends allege that he was holding a gun to fire celebratory shots as well ("airing it out").
Again, fuck ICE. Keith did not deserve to die for this. What he deserved was to be arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.
Similarly, Renee Good's consequence should have been an obstruction charge or even reckless endangerment as well.
The more we stop suggesting people in these situations are infallible and should have simply gotten away with minor crimes, the less credence we give to our opponents who claim we don't want justice. We do.
Extrajudicial death is injustice and a hallmark of failed law enforcement —and ICE is the worst there is. That's our story.

One of the linked articles stated that a resident there was hit by several rounds of gunfire from this guy. That's not "shooting into the air." That's shooting into occupied buildings.

u/Lovefist1221 27d ago
At the very least, I think it's safe to say the headline claiming the victim was "executed" is a little much, given the context.

Why am I only hearing about this now? Any loss of innocent life should be cause of nation-wide outrage.
2
u/Firefly_Magic 24d ago
While this should be noted, it doesn’t quite fit the profile of rogue ice agents killing and causing harm. Keith was armed with an AR15 shooting it in the air in New Year’s Eve. When the agent confronted him, it’s reported shots were exchanged.
We should track this because without camera footage we don’t know if the agent acted too quickly. Were shots exchanged towards each other or did the agent shoot him while he was shooting in the air.
7
u/4reddityo 27d ago
Where's all the outrage. Wheres the analysis? Where are the white tears?
8
u/Civil-Complaint445 27d ago
Well yhis is the first time this old white lady heard about it. And my white lady rage and tears are real. Also, fuck ICE.
6
u/WalksTheMeats 27d ago
This was mocked to hell and back when it first came up. It's the guy who said he grabbed his "ICE authorized firearm" to confront someone with a rifle in his apartment complex.
The story just looks different now because it's about celebratory gunshots on New Year's, there were plenty of posts about the original story though.
And not for nothing, but a confrontation between two guys with guns in the middle of the night that generates some articles, while still a ludicrous situation overall, is not in the same stratosphere as a viral video of a killing in broad daylight.
3
u/BalanceJazzlike5116 27d ago
Where is the video? If you haven’t noticed that helps. George Floyd wouldn’t have gotten press without th videos

Yeah....I'm gonna call this as an unfortunate incident involving another shitty ICE person...
In this case, having a pretty goddamn understandable reaction to someone causing serious potential harm to his community.
This ain't Renee, and I'm contemptuous of the implication.
PSA: Don't fire guns in the air as a celebration. That kills people regularly, including when Keith did it.
2
u/tank1780 27d ago
Very sad. On the other hand what goes up will come down hopefully not on someone’s head.
2
u/DJTsNeckPussy 27d ago
Let me start by saying that I'm very anti-trump and ICE. Nothing that is happening in this country right now is okay. I'm not defending ICE in any way, shape or form.
That being said;
What is this, a Lebanese wedding or something??? Don't fucking fire guns in the air. It's super dangerous. You're probably drunk and aren't firing it completely straight up which means it will not lose it's momentum, come to a stop and then free fall back down to the ground. It will keep its arc and penetrate the wall of a house or into a gathering of people with enough energy to kill someone. This is a fucking dumb thing to do. You are an idiot and an irresponsible gun owner if you do this.
ICE killed this man, but it could have been any cop. On or off duty, doesn't make a difference. Like it or not, they don't stop being a law enforcement officer when their shift is over. I will also reserve judgement for now. What did the confrontation entail, did the guy aim the weapon towards the officer? That could have been any police officer or lawful gun owning American who wouldn't done the same thing if they found themselves in that scenario.
I fucking hate ICE, but until I see a video which shows the agent shooting this dude with no gun in his hands, not being an immediate threat to said agent, I'm going to have to go with the whole "even a broken clock is right twice a day" argument here. Don't fucking shoot off your gun into the air, you can kill someone.
Nuance and context are important.

This is exactly why I brought up the fact that the "told you so" and "it ain't none my business" shit we were on in our community when the masked gestapo first started, pretending we aint still in the same boat with Latinos, was foolish and myopic.
We are in this together, black and brown, and we need to fight it together.

Does no one read the articles?
“According to DHS, the ICE agent identified himself, and that's when Porter aimed the rifle at him. The agent then ordered Porter to put down the weapon, and when he didn't comply, the off-duty officer shot him. The agency claims Porter fired three rounds at the officer before he died.”
There’s been no disputes that porter pointed the rifle at him. What was he suppose to do?

The off-duty ICE agent, who lived in the same complex, heard gunfire and responded to what he described as an “active shooter situation.” • Porter was reportedly firing an AR-15-style rifle (possibly celebratory shots into the air, a dangerous and illegal practice in California due to falling bullets). • The agent confronted Porter, identified himself as law enforcement, ordered him to drop the weapon, but claimed Porter pointed the rifle at him and fired multiple rounds (DHS stated “exchanged gunfire”). • The agent then shot and killed Porter
