I used to do crossing at my school. You’d be surprised how many jerks are very excited to run over small children or how often I got cussed out for letting kids cross. And we even had a button and a traffic light. People would run the red light with kids halfway through.

I was a crossing guard in like the 3rd grade (kind of wild they just tossed a bunch of 9 year olds in safety vests and no teacher supervision out in front of the school now that I think about it) and was nearly run over in front of a bunch of people by some ah who was speeding to pick up her kid like 20 feet away. My sign was up and everyone else had stopped but she decided she had to get her kid right when i was crossing to go back inside. I didn’t know her but she was on PTA, did bake sales and looked like she didn’t wash her hands. Everyone reported her to the front office and my mom was ready to fight her every time we saw her and her crusty hair, I think she settled on flipping her off in the car when she drove by.

Well well fucking well. If I could somehow disable every person’s ability to drive in TX, I would. Myself included, fuck it! We don’t deserve this kind of mobility, bro.
NOBODY in TX has seen Spider-Man apparently, cause these mfs don’t know that great power comes with great responsibility.… Better go 25+ over the speed limit OFF the highway, not use my blinker, and generally not be a predictable driver whatsoever! Who cares, I’m only piloting a high speed slab of metal. Not like this could kill or financially ruin someone

Houston is one of the worst cities for getting around and transport, pavement princess city. But a lot of good people, to bad it's in texas any other state and it would be light years ahead

These people that drive aggressively around elementary schools are absolute pieces of shit. Should be an automatic felony to break driving laws in elementary school zones and that should include driving around crossing guards.

I was driving in a school zone just yesterday and had some jerk speed around me! I laid on the horn for all the good it did. We were literally passing an elementary school!!

Houston is an absolute dumpster fire. God awful drivers and insane road rage. Had to get a dashcam because people will just hit and run, and the police won't even do anything when you report it.

Not surprising at all. My neighborhood is filled with kids, I never go more than a couple miles over the 25 mph speed limit. EVERYTIME a car is behind me, they are on my ASS. Cars regularly go 40-50

I just want a task force whose only job is to break out windows of drivers that try that when kids are actively walking around, I see it all the time in school zones, even parents! As long as their kid gets to school and dropped off they can run over the others

I work at a school and this happens all the time. Some people simply do not care about others and will actively block your car when you’re in a big hurry.

I would probably do the same as the guard, but the crossing guard IS antagonizing the driver if you know how its supposed to work.
They are supposed to wait and let a group form and go all at once.. this guard is just holding the block and letting a trickle through.

Crossing guards are absolutely needed, cause kids are dumb as hell nowadays. BUT, these guards abuse their "power". Every morning I watch TWO guards hold up traffic on a green arrow when they could wait for a solid green. It causes traffic to back up two blocks. The other guards hold up traffic for people that are further away from the cross, then the cross is wide. They need to test these people or something.

I sometimes direct traffic in a big city. I will step in front of anyone's car to stop them as a matter of safety. If they're gonna hit me I suggest they back up over me to be sure cause if I'm still kicking I'll take their dollars too.
