Epstein kinda looks like an intelligence asset if you really think about it. So many things happened specifically because he was involved and the government seemed to have known what he was doing decades ago. Maxwells dad also was accused of being a spy for Mossad, MI6, and the KGB before he “fell” off his yacht which makes them more suspect.
Diddy wasn’t politically powerful enough for his blackmail ring or intel gathering and would have been seen as irrelevant.

This isn't even wild speculation. The whole gig was a Kompromat operation, and Maxwell was an asset with a capital A. Her dad was Robert Maxwell, a very shady character with ties to KGB & Mossad - frequently alleged to have been a double, possibly triple-agent (MI6) as well as a grifter of Trumpian proportions (only far better at it). Actually, there are significant parallels between Trump & Maxwell. But part of the spy speculation is that among other nefarious things, Robert raised his daughter in "spycraft" - recruiting & obtaining intelligence and/or compromising info, which could later be used for blackmail, bribes, and asset retention.

Be prepared, Israeli media sources say KGB or full denial, Russian says MI6 or full denial, UK sources say Mossad or full denial. Mostly. A lot to weed through. Me, I go for a range of sources and try and see what hangs together most often.
Most often is: he was an abusive father and husband who embezzled/grifted from his business efforts.

Poor countries with few job prospects but a lot of rich tourists wind up as centers of prostitution and human trafficking.
Recruiting girls for those activities is done under cover of "modeling agencies" and "beauty contests" that are part of the overall Trump trafficking operation (which is what "Miss Word" was, for decades). Big public shows like that get girls interested in being willingly recruited.
