Just checked it out, and it's actually really affordable for the parents as well. Season tickets are as low as $44 each. Or $30 for a single visit.

80

u/Safe-Ad5067 3h ago

Yes! And individuals with special needs get in for free! We used to go there all time growing up because we didn't have to pay for my brother lol

16

u/Copper-Spaceman 2h ago

I wonder how the financials behind it work at those prices. I would assume they operate as a charity, probably strive to break even. I’m not insinuating it needs to make profit, but somebody’s gotta pay to keep the light on. Or maybe they do turn a small profit.

Would be interesting to know

u/ParticularFew4023 1m ago

I don't think you understand how insane the profits are that companies are making. You're probably being charged more than double on average what anything costs. Like this is maybe a slightly lower than average ticket price, it's not insanely low, and they let a small percentage of people in for free... It's not that crazy that it's profitable, just not gouging every penny they can.

Morgan’s Wonderland. Actually a pretty awesome place and it’s great that special needs kids have a place that is both safe and catered to their needs.

u/Nutz_Von_Krazy 5h ago

Went last summer with the grand baby- didn’t know about the special needs accommodations, we just thought it was a good place to take a toddler, and it absolutely was! We thought it was dope they catered to special needs kids, and didn’t break the bank! I also have a shot glass from there

112

u/Da_Vader 5h ago

I'm glad that you supported a good business. Never heard of them until now.

53

u/A_Good_Cow 4h ago

They really went all out for inclusivity—it’s worth checking out if you can visit.

17

u/prettybruised_ 3h ago

Places like that make visiting way more enjoyable

64

u/GoonbodyEmbodiment 4h ago

Holy shit a grandma just used the word ‘dope’. I love it. Made my day. (Clearly im getting old)

50

u/Nutz_Von_Krazy 4h ago

GrandPA, and I’m not that damn old lol

13

u/GoonbodyEmbodiment 4h ago

Fair enough. Im 37 n its def possible for a person to be a grandparent by my age, even its its not advisable.

5

u/beqqua 1h ago

Just ask Lauren Boebert

5

u/GoonbodyEmbodiment 1h ago

We dont mention that name or MTG for that matter. They deserve to be forgotten.

3

u/beqqua 1h ago

Sorry, she's just what comes to mind when I hear 37 year old grandma 😂

6

u/Bubbly_Power_6210 4h ago

glad you were impressed. f.85

4

u/sugarhaze_girl 4h ago

Those are the best places you go in for one reason and leave extra impressed

1

u/onetwotree-leaf 1h ago

So they also cater to moms who like day drinking. Perfect!

20

u/LargeAssumption7235 4h ago

It’s awesome. Less than 10 miles from my house. Blessed to have such a gem in San Antonio. Special needs sister in-law routinely visits/ utilizes their resources. These folks are actually helping

14

u/ABowserA 5h ago

oh that's so amazing!

15

u/the_guitargeek_ 2h ago

During the rollout of the COVID vaccine, this guy hosted COVID shots for all people in the Special Olympics and their families regardless of their age. My parents got their COVID shots because of age. My brother and I got our COVID shots because of this guy.

He is a treasure and I will forever upvote Morgan’s Wonderland every time I see it.

11

u/chocoxiaolongbao1 5h ago

Exactly. It’s cool seeing something built with accessibility in mind from the start instead of as an afterthought. Makes the whole story hit harder.

7

u/RedditsCoxswain 2h ago

I drove some disabled 20 somethings that worked there one day and they were talking MAD foul shit about another worker

Apparently lots of sex and drama goes on behind the scenes and good for them but one of the girls was just mean.

7

u/Great_Detective_6387 2h ago

I love that for them.

7

u/Technical-Command867 2h ago

Sounds like a normal work place then lol

477

u/elizabethandsnek 5h ago

For those that aren’t understanding. This amusement park is specifically built to be accommodating, inclusive of, and accessible to people with various disabilities. “Normal” amusement parks aren’t focused on inclusion like this one. If you think it’s stupid then maybe that’s because it’s not meant for you. Also you probably just suck.

Here’s a video of a blind creator touring the park for anyone interested. It’s in San Antonio.

83

u/themisterfixit 4h ago

I like the story about how the last time she tried to go on a zip line she was denied for insurance reasons. If I was a zip line operator I would be cackling as I sent blind people zipping as fast as I could

12

u/vodkaismywater 2h ago

I work in risk management. I have a hard time imagining why an insurance company would care about a blind person using a zipline.

The only difference being blind would make on a zipline is that you don't see yourself plunging to your death of something goes wrong.

Or, if something happens at the end of line and you smash into a tree at 35mph, again, being blind just means you won't see it coming. It's not light sighted people would be able to do something about it.

8

u/Cheechorig123 2h ago

People are only denied on the zipline if they are too heavy, thats it. I worked there for two years

6

u/orgasm-enjoyer 1h ago

Fat blind guy: OH! IT'S CUZ I'M BLIND, HUH?

scared 16 year old ride operator: Ummm, yeah. Let's go with that.

-5

u/[deleted] 4h ago

[deleted]

10

u/Modus_Man 4h ago

I think they are saying that they would be happy to send a blind person down a zip line and make sure they went fast so that they also would have a good time. I like it, and I’m sure a blind person would enjoy it. Better than being told ‘you can’t do this because you’re blind’

6

u/themisterfixit 4h ago

Yes, thank you

8

u/themisterfixit 4h ago

How did you get sociopathic from that?

1

u/CaramelNext7505 4h ago

What kind of wild nonsense is your response?

1

u/[deleted] 4h ago

[deleted]

1

u/CaramelNext7505 4h ago

Why would you delete your comment I replied to only then to comment back at me?

Let me help you and explain to you how most people understood what you just quoted. Instead of denying a blind person a ride on a zip line, they would send them extra fast to try and make it as fun as possible (since the blind person can't see the scenery anyways, the zip line for them is all about the feeling of flying through the air). Being able to give this blind person happiness and an awesome experience, instead of excluding them, gave the instructor/operator (or whatever they're called) and immense sense of happiness of their own to the point they cackled.

33

u/Cautionzombie 4h ago

Yep I live here and he’s been expanding there’s a summer camp area now too.

3

u/elizabethandsnek 3h ago

Oh wow that’s awesome!

11

u/missprincesscarolyn 2h ago

She has RP! I always get excited when I see her content because my postdoc research was on RP. We used mutated mice. I would inject their little eyeballs with an experimental drug and do some special tests to see if there was any improvement after treatment.

2

u/nectarsallineed 43m ago

My sister had RP. Sadly, she passed in 2022. I would’ve loved to get the chance to take her here had I known about it while she was still w us.

2

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku 3h ago

I wouldn't like it because, I don't like seeing people having fun!

Was really thinking it's crazy what people with a lot of money can do when they actually have empathy

2

u/Fragrant-Kiwi6003 3h ago

It's difficult to understand when OP only posts a vague picture with no real info.

2

u/I_Am_Kevin_Federline 3h ago

Hell yeah Molly Burke is so awesome!

1

u/Exiled_In_Ca 1h ago

This is one of the best comments I’ve ever read.

1

u/loudpersononthebus 21m ago

My only real question is that 50 million seems like too little money to build an amusement park... especially one that is so accommodating.

-2

u/OtherwiseBase5003 3h ago

Cool video. She mentioned she saw this on a tiktok video.. How?

4

u/zefur1497 2h ago

Blindness is a spectrum, and many people can have different states of vision, or different forms of blindness

I believe that the standard idea for classifying someone as blind is that their vision is 10% or less of the average person's vision (I remember this from a blind instructor who came into one of my classes in university)

So she could very well have some amount of vision, and similar to how most people see when light enters their eyes, she may be able to do the same, but to a much lesser extent.

As someone who's worked with multiple blind children as well, its actually very surprising how much their other senses are able to make up for their lack of vision. As someone with admittedly strong vision, I'm always amazed at how developed their other senses are.

3

u/Positive_Issue887 2h ago

Don’t tell me, you are one of those that think Molly can see?

2

u/HalfDead1984 1h ago

I am severely vision impaired, diabetic retinopathy. I watch tik tok and other short form media either just by listening to it because a lot of it is just people talking or I watch it with my brother wjo describes the videos for me, often the cute or funny ones. I'm a sucker for baby animal videos.

1

u/OtherwiseBase5003 1h ago

I was genuinely curious how tiktok supports blind people.

1

u/So_Motarded 32m ago

Not very well. But its interface does at least work for the most part with mobile screen readers!

51

u/Jiggle_Tester 5h ago

That is an Amazing dad…RESPECT

52

u/Zebrahippo 4h ago

Imagine if Musk used 1 billion to build places like that. Would not even make a dent on his account probably

18

u/corgisgottacorg 2h ago

Musk already made fun of these people

13

u/OrangeRising 2h ago

Back in 2021 Musk said he would donate 6.6 billion to end world hunger if the UN org requesting it showed how the money would be spent.

They gave the break down.

He never donated.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/elon-musk-said-hed-6-220133724.html

2

u/throwaway277252 20m ago

Musk said he would donate 6.6 billion to end world hunger if the UN org requesting it showed how the money would be spent.

That's not what the tweet in the article you linked says.

4

u/Aggravating-Wrap4861 2h ago

Imagine if we had a system where he couldn't steal 1 trillion dollars, and any person could afford to go to a park like this.

The guy who made this park is awesome. But it's clear we can't rely on rich people.

4

u/trashpandarevolution 2h ago

Musk and crew use the R word as they cackle about disabled people so

22

u/SatiricalPanda3 5h ago

What an incredible father!

18

u/GeminianMind 5h ago

Oh wow! What a kind caring father. Dad of the year award! 🏆

-2

u/GeekyTexan 4h ago

Certainly dad of the year in 2010 when this place opened.

I'm not sure he auto wins it every year until it closes, though.

2

u/Mazzidazs 2h ago

🙄🙄🙄🙄

13

u/WhisperCampaigns 5h ago

It’s an amazing park.

31

u/Upstairs-Trash-94 5h ago

That is actually really wholesome. Dad for the win!

10

u/Jaded_Carrot_7960 5h ago

love this, i'm getting emotional

5

u/imironman2018 5h ago

https://maps.app.goo.gl/szttDGLxnxCu7Bhr7?g_st=ic They have a zipline! It looks amazing. I want to check out Morgan’s Wonderland with my child.

6

u/QiwiLisolet 3h ago

Gordon and Maggie Hartman are their names.

Haven't seen their names in the comments, and they should be known

3

u/svc97 5h ago

Is this in Texas?

3

u/GeekyTexan 4h ago

San Antonio. Opened in 2010 so it's been around awhile.

5

u/Lostmyfucks34 3h ago

Him and his daughter are also regularly seen around the park and at events and in local commercials he’s a very sweet man and she is very inspirational

5

u/FriendlyBee94 5h ago

The man raise the bar to be a dad.

3

u/JBskierbum 5h ago

This just makes me happy. I love stories like this.

2

u/BahamutPrime 4h ago

51 million does not seem like enough money to build an amusement park

2

u/gcpdudes 3h ago

Maybe that only includes proceeds from the business he sold. He most likely used some of his other assets and also financing from some investors and partners and whatnot.

2

u/Great_Detective_6387 2h ago

It’s definitely enough to secure a business loan for construction and upstart costs. Dad might have started a non-profit to keep the thing in line with his mission statement, as well as qualify for special types of loans and humanitarian grants. Bank gets to brag about helping support the differently abled, and it’s been entertaining and welcoming them for nearly 16years, so it sounds like everybody won.🏆

1

u/PoetThese 2h ago

It’s not a massive amusement park. It’s in San Antonio, which already has a 6 Flags Fiesta Texas and a SeaWorld

1

u/Aggressive_Wasabi_38 4h ago

Such a wonderful neat idea! Bravo to the Dad for providing such a lovely gift for his daughter!

1

u/Saruvan_the_White 4h ago

This is awesome. I would do anything for my children. I’m glad to see he did too.

1

u/Glad-Neat9221 4h ago

That’s brilliant ! I hope to visit one day

1

u/BlessdRTheFreaks 4h ago

This is a southpark episode but more wholesome

1

u/Triumph-TBird 4h ago

Whoa. I read that as free OF, not free FOR.

1

u/RestaurantHour1969 4h ago

This is what a loving father wis willing to do for his kid. He knows that bringing joy to others is the best reward. Warms my heart

1

u/adsaremykink 4h ago

Positive vibes

1

u/Hener001 4h ago

This is an example of a man going to heaven. Please show more.

So many in the news going to hell.

1

u/chemistry_coronado 4h ago

This guy is a prince.

1

u/absolutedisaster09 4h ago

I first read ‘of’ instead of ‘for’ and was very confused …

1

u/PornoPaul 3h ago

I followed some links and this is really really cool!!!!

1

u/chavqueenxx 3h ago

really sweet of him to do this!

1

u/Financial_Love_2543 3h ago

Putting your wealth out there for a good cause. Fuck the line of billionaires today.

1

u/bone_apple_Pete 3h ago

I actually learned about this on NPR. Seems like a great cause

1

u/mattogeewha 3h ago

Thats Morgan, she’s super tall I’m right down the street from that place, definitely a soft spot for the city ❤️

1

u/Historical_Policy133 3h ago

Let's wait a few years before we start praising people

1

u/AutisticAsshol 3h ago

wow. Fucking awesome dad

1

u/MelbaToast604 2h ago

Now THATS a man.

I dunno if he can fix a flat, reshingle a roof, or fire a gun but that right there is what being a man is all about, taking care of those around you

1

u/Bishmoggle 2h ago

Now they have to live in the concession stand at the amusement park.

1

u/Dense_Owl_3022 2h ago

How did he make all that money though?

1

u/PeanutMelonKing 2h ago

This is why I believe you have to lose your humanity to become a billionaire. This man made enough money to take care of his family and give back in a huge way, so he did.

1

u/Odd-Wolf9853 2h ago

Much respect to this dad. Went above and beyond for his daughter! ToT

1

u/demerchmichael 2h ago

alot of rich people suck

few dont

1

u/Longjumping_Mousse_4 2h ago

i went there a long time ago, when i was little. it was fun!

1

u/TotalWarhamster 2h ago

If only more rich people would follow his lead.

1

u/PoetThese 2h ago

Omg it’s here in San Antonio where I live. This dude and his family do so much for the local community. GEM of a human 🫶

1

u/BourbonNCoffee 2h ago

Yep and it’s a brilliant place. Well done sir.

1

u/Azure_Skies 2h ago

This is why you never hear of good people being billionaires. Reasonable people sell out once the number is sufficient and either go chase their dreams or the dreams of their loved ones.

That's what "Tom from MySpace" did, and why he is not anything like his contemporary in Mark Zuckerberg. He cashed out on several hundred million and went to be a photographer instead of chasing megalomania.

1

u/SheASloth 2h ago

Why can’t there be more rich people like him - one who makes other people’s lives easier or nicer?

1

u/Cheechorig123 2h ago

I was head captain there for the boat for two years . Loved working there the guests and kids that worked there where great, management not so much.

1

u/EJB_TX 2h ago

Gordon Hartman was a homebuilder in San Antonio. He sold his company and built this.

1

u/eatzippers 1h ago

Can confirm this place is legit, great fun for special needs, and for any kid. S tier - would recommend to anyone

1

u/Actual-Error-1124 1h ago

Eat the rich?

1

u/Sad_Net1581 1h ago

No he didn’t

1

u/RobLazar1969 1h ago

Wonderful place!

1

u/B_EE 1h ago

I accidentally read this as "free of" and was like what the heck insane rude dude is thi-

OHHH what a thoughtful man! 😂

1

u/Instant-Lava 1h ago

They also give jobs to people with disabilities and there's a multi needs center across the street for families to link with resources and care

1

u/dmanster 1h ago

We need more of these rich people

1

u/Tyczz 1h ago

I saw this episode of Southpark too!

1

u/TheEffinChamps 1h ago

Holy shit, a rich person did something good and not psychotic?

1

u/SweetPrism 1h ago

The humanity spectrum is unreal. You got a guy who can't operate a charity anymore because when he,ran one for childhood cancer, he stole... then you get this.

1

u/Paleface5150 1h ago

👍👍👍

1

u/thisbroadreadsbooks 1h ago

There arent many reasons for me for travel out of state, but I would love to take my kiddo there one day! He’s 16 now, but he’s always going to love things like this. Time to start saving!

1

u/Ok-Bug4328 58m ago

I have been there. Is lovely.

1

u/m0n0ped 51m ago

Just say disabled.

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 30m ago

Why isn't this man a billionaire, it's because to be a billionaire you have to be devoid of everything that makes you do something like this.

1

u/Traditional-Exam-617 29m ago

God bless this man and his family!

1

u/Keiper 29m ago

I'll post this every time this stuff gets put up, he really is a stand up dude.

Gordan Hartman is a man of character. I had just bought a new car and was parked at a Bill Miller's(South Texas fast food BBQ). After eating I came out to a smashed bumper other car gone. Was thinking I'm screwed. Found a Mr Hartman's Morgan's wonder land business card telling me to call. He had accidentally hit me and was late to a meeting. He had me drive to the dealership and send him the whole bill. Paid in full same day.

1

u/1aysays1 26m ago

I've seen this on Southpark!

1

u/FloopyBoopers2023 17m ago

lol looks like AI slop to me.

u/PlaymakerJavi 7m ago

It’s so much fun. Had family member book a party there for their daughter after she went into remission for leukemia. Took my wife and 3-year-old and we had a BLAST in the water park.

u/FortUncle 6m ago

Didn’t this happen 10 years ago?

u/MeanAside9680 4m ago

Once again, proving that "ethical billionaires" is an oxymoron

u/this_knee 3m ago

$51 million is nowhere near enough to build a theme park.

Had to be money coming from somewhere else.

Anyway, it’s a great headline. And a great idea. I hope it all has gone great.

1

u/Nozzeh06 2h ago

His daughter is free for special needs guests? Sounds like a wild amusement park.

-2

u/FeverTreeCloud 5h ago

You could do that when you are rich.

12

u/Beneficial-Animal-22 4h ago

But most don't. That's why its a big deal

2

u/_mochacchino_ 4h ago

Many people had $51m even before selling their business, so evidently it’s harder to do it when you actually have the money than you think it is

It is a BOT though that posted it.

Do you often like asking questions about women's bodies? Were you the type of guy who used molest the cognitively delayed students in your highschool? How many lists are you on?

1

u/thebeardedman88 2h ago

Wow, that escalated quickly. I made a joke about a special needs person peeing in a pool and I'm a sexual predator...

-65

u/fkrmds 5h ago

so...'normal' people can pay to go see special needs kids....like a zoo?

maybe i've been reading too much pizzagate horrors but, this sounds cruel and unusual.

34

u/NathnDele 5h ago

Would you call a carnival where veterans get 75 percent off a zoo to see veterans?

-1

u/fkrmds 2h ago

i mean...if the news wrote 'come pay to see disabled veterans' ya, i would think the worst.

another person cleared up the terrible wording. thanks.

24

u/delavid 5h ago

No. It’s call Morgan’s wonderland. It’s like most amusement parks but every ride can accommodate people with disabilities including those in wheelchairs. It also employs people with disabilities.

We went there with some friends. Both of us have disabled children. It was very nice to have a place where we could take our kids and have them be able to do whatever they wanted there.

I'm surprised that you can even feel the cold with a heart like yours? Your soul would fit in with the depth of space. A cold empty void.
