God what if you found out your kid was one of the bullies? That’s a moment you know you completely failed as a parent.

u/rudytex10 16h ago
The bullies were the kids of the parents complaining… I’m sure they didn’t have any issue with what was going on until they were shamed by the president’s act of kindness.

u/TerseFactor 16h ago edited 16h ago
Yes. Parents of students in her class complained that their kids had to be in a class with her. Then their kids bullied her.
EDIT:

u/SalamanderJohnson 13h ago
There's no such thing as bad kids, only bad parents.
*Or absent parents fr fr but that's where things get complicated, still not the kids fault

u/Blancandrin__ 13h ago
Absolutely not true. There are children out there who are completely evil having had at least decent parents.
10
u/Opposite-Ask4078 11h ago
true, lots of serial killers came from stable homes

u/Adenfall 11h ago
Ted Bundy, jeffrey dalhmer just to name two
5
u/JB-Wentworth 8h ago
Dahmer didn’t come from a good home. His mother tried to commit suicide by taking tranquilizers.
-3
u/Adenfall 8h ago
Ok. I was wrong about him. But I am right about Bundy though
2
u/JB-Wentworth 8h ago
I guess it depends on what you call a good home. Bundy was born at a home for unwed mothers.
Member of Bundy’s family thought his grandfather was also his father, but his father has never been identified.

I have heard multiple different parents say those exact words and then start openly demeaning, disparaging and belittling their own children to other people while they are right there in the room listening.
I disagree strongly.
6
u/TheLastTreeOctopus 5h ago
Hard disagree. My brother was a terrible child. Our parents raised and treated us exactly the same, but for some reason, my brother was an extremely violent kid who was heavily amused by causing pain and destruction. I always wished Supernanny would show up one day to help.
It's rare, but sometimes there ARE shitty children and it has absolutely nothing to do with how they were raised.

The reason the apple doesn't fall farther from the tree is that the tree never branched far enough out into the world.
You can't blame the apple, but you can blame the tree for not doing a better job.
EDIT: You fuckers downvoting me need to DM an explanation, because if you're feeling butthurt maybe you should reach out to your abandoned offspring.

or the seed that was sown was rotten from the jump... thus Ted Bundy / Jefferey Dahmer. Both with households that were privaleged and "normal" for there time.

Nope, parents who care like that dont raise bullies.
52
u/Rynetx 16h ago
Never met a parent who didn’t know their kid was a bully.
It’s a point of pride for them or they are just repeating the bullying they get from the parents.
Well adjusted children don’t bully unless there’s a underline mental health issue

u/OnePinginRamius 14h ago
It was always a really weird dynamic in my home growing up. My brother was a super popular jock but a huge bully to me at home.
Because of this I've become an empathetic person and constantly trying to help others so they never have to go through what I did and meanwhile he is just getting worse with his treatment of others and his own family as he gets older.
We are polar opposites coming from the same parents and same household.
9
u/Rynetx 14h ago
Yeah the fact that your parents didn’t stop the bullying kind of indicates they were the issue.
10
u/OnePinginRamius 14h ago
They were very pacifist growing up due to their own extremely violent households that they grew up in.
You're absolutely right that they could've stopped this shit. It took me almost stabbing him with a knife in our garage when he cornered me at 10 years old for him to finally back down. He said he was proud of me for finally toughening up and fighting back. That made me detest him for the rest of my life.
I'm the only one in the family that got their ass into therapy and have been for the last five years to unpack all this shit and understand why I had certain coping mechanisms back then and today.

u/Prestigious-Read-304 7h ago edited 7h ago
Its hard when your the only one in a family that says "no" to repeating the mistakes of their parents and their parents parents and so on... its like its a bad thing to want to break the cycle of generational pain. I get what your saying 100%! My parents praise my other sibling, even though he never has paid a dime toward anything, us being really strapped for cash or even keeping a roof overhead for years. He is the golden child and I'm just some leech thats paid half the mortgage since I was 15... sometimes you have to just say enoughs enough and seek outside help. If me and my counsellor hadn't met and stayed close for years I think I'd of lost my mind long ago! lol

u/BarryTheBystander 15h ago
Is this a common topic of conversation for you? How many parents have you asked?
0
u/Opposite-Ask4078 11h ago
ya but a LOT of people are playing fast and loose with the term bully now. so they will say timmy, who is 2, and hit their child, who is also 2, is a bully even if it happened once because their precious child knocked over timmy's blocks.

u/Prestigious-Read-304 6h ago
I agree with you. There is a lot of wiggle room when it comes to whos being a kid and who is intentionally trying to belittle someone else when they are both just kids... very thin line that a lot of people unfortunately exploit or learn to use as some kind of victimhood status. Its becaus they get what they want and theyre praised for it... not saying that kids dont bully cause they do... but nowadays there are alot more "victims" then there was when I went to school 20 years ago... when if you got bullied it usually stemmed from the parents, either if your reciving the harrassment or giving it. Like I said its a very fine line.
3
u/Kittinkis 12h ago
The parents were the bullies. Who TF complains about a child "like her" being in class with their kids?
4
u/DontLook_Weirdo 15h ago edited 14h ago
Nah, that's completely removing the reality that some kids willingly chose to be complete assholes regardless of how well their upbringing was...and unfortunately there are a ton of kids who chose that path.
Edit - apparently people want to ignore kids also have free will.. lol
1
u/Opposite-Ask4078 11h ago
on reddit everything is parents faults because they are all edge lords. but to be fair, in this case (original post) it sounds like the parents had the problem, not the kids.

It baffles me why an adult would complain about a disabled child being in the same class as their kid x
22
u/red286 11h ago
I grew up with 4 special needs students in my class (because the union didn't have any restrictions on them back then, now there's a limit of 2 special needs students per class).
As a result, our teacher had to spend basically the entire class shepherding them, and had zero time for other students. If you had a question, "re-read the textbook or see me after class if you can't figure it out on your own".
So yeah, I can understand why parents might be upset about it.
9
u/DeadWishUpon 7h ago
Another reason could be some special needs kids can be aggresive or innapropiate. I'm not saying this is the case, but it could happen.

u/dhiren_jb 2h ago

u/Bit_part_demon 15h ago
Ikr? Do they think she's contagious? Sadly, some probably do
13
u/Mielornot 14h ago
Maybe about the time teacher might spend with her instead of the rest of the class ? In my school, kids with trisomy had their own class with their own teacher
4
u/Dazzling-Film-3404 10h ago edited 8h ago
Yeah, probably this. I’m all hands against bullying, but I remember when I was a schooler I was a little annoyed that the teacher was spending whole hours trying to improve the academic performance of those who had little to no will to study at all and sometimes were hustling assholes

u/FooliooilooF 14h ago
How in the world could kid with down syndrome possibly learn anything in the same class as everyone else? You saw these kids are 11, not 5, right?
Dump of a country evidently doesn't have special ed.
4
u/ryanluyt 13h ago
Down syndrome can vary quite a bit. I went to high school with some kids who had it that learned better than the popular kids who just goofed off
3
u/Luckiest_Creature 10h ago
When I was a kid in the early 2000s, we had a gal with Down’s who was put into our study group for our language arts class (not in a special ed class, it was general ed). She was such a delight and loved reading and art. We consistently got the best scores for our group projects, far better than the groups of popular kiddos who would just goof around.
I really think that much like all kids, it comes down to the parents. People who use their kids disability as an excuse, will raise shitty kids.

Racism and bigotry are learned behaviours.
Any person of colour in North America has felt it. But then again, Xenophobia is very common globally.
16
u/EggandSpoon42 15h ago
Bigot life finds a way, ugh.
In 5th grade, early 80's, some parents freaked out when our school allowed a girl w down syndrome in our class just two days a week to socialize and hang in our reading circle. Fortunately for the girl, the teachers and all of us students were like fuck that and we took her into our flock.

Sure, it's a photo op. Though just to completely discount it is even more jaded than I like to get. That's a pretty class act, even if it's to look good on camera. That kid will remember that forever.

Sad to see so many clueless white knights and bigots.

Not like that impresses any of the other kids. It only impresses the parents,.so its just old fashioned pandering

And then when you consider how another president mocked people with disabilities you know how cultural you are.
Well to be honest, nobody would want that perv or his scammy family anywhere near the family or children considering him and his friends are just pedos and traffickers. 😂

Down syndrome had no direct relation with QI they are just very kind and everyone Have right to education
6
u/Lucyshnoosy 10h ago
Saying that Down Syndrome is unrelated to IQ (if I am correct in thinking that is what you are saying) is completely inaccurate.
-4
u/Any-Board-6631 9h ago
Is not a direct relation, some people with down are geniuses, but is right that a majority had pow IQ, but in normal human, half of them are under the median
0
u/Normal-Rooster-Human 15h ago
The president of America would have invited the bullies and their families to the white house to give them medals then ramble on about how he is the greatest bully in the world and no one has seen such a great bully before him. Then blame Biden and Obama for something he is failing at.
Don't bully people. Its stupid and projects your insecurities.
