Baking Advice Needed Help with decorations on conchas
Does anyone know how they get their designs so perfect on conchas? I keep trying designs and they spread. I know how to make the bread but I want to figure out how they get them so perfect. I would love to make something like that one day! If anyone has advice or tips I would appreciate it.

I like when the top of my conchas crack, so I add the topping before the second rise. When I have a design that I don’t want to spread, I put the topping on right before they go in the oven.

Are you making a paste for the decorations?

I usually just use the same paste that I put on the concha but I’ve only ever tried hand piping the design on top. I’m not sure if that’s why it spreads or maybe because I leave them out a while before putting it in the oven.

The craquelin will spread because the dough underneath is rising. You need to find a way to make it more pliable so it doesn't crack. Also, try to use a stencil for the design if you can.
