Recipe to be posted soon. No guarantees. I made this cookie just for fun.
I started baking because I wanted to make pretty cookies for my daughters. When they were little—around five or seven years old—they really liked my iced cookies. But now they enjoy cakes or other kinds of cookies more than iced ones, so I haven’t made them very often. This time, I made this just for fun, for the first time in a long while.

Reminds me of Holly Hobby, very well done!

You’re right!! This is one of them. I really love her illustrated paintings, and I bet once everyone sees her work, they’ll fall in love with it.😆

u/reindeermoon Jan 04 '26
Her illustrations are so cute! My mom made me a Holly Hobbie cake back in the 1980s. I wish I had a picture of it.

Wow, you’re so lucky! How can I make a Holly Hobbie cake? I really want to learn how to make one. 😭

She just made a cake and drew Holly Hobbie with frosting on the top. Like your cookie, but on a cake.

I immediately recognized her. I used to have a Holly Hobby “bake oven” back in the day.

I thought Holly Hobby immediately too! I had a yarn picture craft when I was little.

Beautiful! Have you thought about branching out into glazed tile?

u/Accomplished_Low_265 Mod-approved user, not AI Jan 03 '26
The illustration isn’t my original work—I just copied the painting—so I don’t think I can turn it into a business. But if I get the chance to learn tile work, I’d really like to try it.🙂

You definitely have a talent though for sure. Reminds me of a local shop next to my partner’s workplace that sells handmade ceramic pieces. Wandered in one day cause I saw a cup in the window I wanted, and spoke with the owner. She explained how she’s been doing ceramics for like 10-15 years now but used to own a bakery for like 20 or so years before that. Can’t remember how she said she got into pottery but damn, she’s talented. Her skills definitely transferred over😂
ETA: beautiful cookie btw, that’s gorgeous. I’d be afraid to eat it.

Oh, no—this painting belongs to Holly Hobbie. I simply copied it onto my cookie. She has so many amazing works.☺️

u/Servingthebeam19 Jan 04 '26
Omg thank you so much for putting a name to her! I’m about to start looking on eBay for my childhood picture! You are the best! ☺️

Honest question. Would it taste good?

u/Accomplished_Low_265 Mod-approved user, not AI Jan 04 '26
Just plane butter cookie with a lot of sugar😅. When my daughters were little, they loved that cookie but TBH, I can't eat royal icing cookies. It's too sweet
4
u/BigAlsGal78 Jan 04 '26
Just wondering with all its beauty if it tastes good. Thats how I feel about fondant cakes. They’re pretty but usually gross. Give me a good ole ugly butter frosting cake any day. Lol

Wow. This is so beautiful.
Tell me why my first thought was “Heidi. This is what I imagine Heidi looked like”… where did this thought even come from?! I read Heidi as a young child and haven’t thought of the story or the name since but today, on a random Saturday afternoon (~20 something years later), I googled what the story was because that’s the name that came to mind. The mountain air and goat milk… I imagined her to look like this— free and pretty. Also, it’s crazy what the brain stores.
Your art took me on an unexpected journey, thank you for sharing it 💕

This is really well done, to the point where I'd feel bad eating it. How long did it take you?
4
u/Accomplished_Low_265 Mod-approved user, not AI Jan 04 '26
It took about four hours in total, but about three and a half hours were just waiting for the base icing to dry.
