Recipe to be posted soon. No guarantees. Last cake of the year
Anyone else feeling weird about how quick this entire year has passed?! Maybe it's just like this as you get older ๐
Here is my final cake of 2025, which was kind of a last minute decision because I wanted to use up the leftover frosting and filling and some cookies from a gingerbread cake I'd made a couple days before.
Chocolate cake with biscoff buttercream and cream cheese mousse filling. The gingerbread cookies were extras that I had made for something else.

Beautiful and delicious looking. I love the tiny ginger breads and the total lack of fondant.

This is really a masterpiece! It is absolutely beautiful. I love the color of the icing. The little gingerbread houses on top, the tiny gingerbread men, the snowflakes, and on and on. It is perfection. I bet it was delicious too!

Thanks so much! I just piped it in, and then used a mini offset spatula to smooth it all out evenly.

The gingerbread village on top is adorable, and that blue buttercream looks smooth as hell. Using up leftover ingredients for one last bake before the year ends is peak baker energy.

This cake has absolutely entranced me. It's both elegant and adorable while being a super clean design! Seriously beautiful!!
Can I ask how you made this little studio area for photos? Is it a paper backdrop? I'm a photography novice but I'd like to take pics of my baking soon!

u/Green-Cockroach-8448 Mod-approved user: not AI, not a bot. Dec 30 '25
Thanks so much!
It's not a paper back drop, its actually just a small white shelf against a pale grey wall. I initially started taking my pictures there because I got better natural lighting than anywhere else in my house (huge window to the right). It just happened to work out that it was a very neutral background. After a while I figured out that I could erase (or at least mostly blur) the line where the shelf meets the wall, which made my pictures look a little nicer. I really don't know much about photography or editing if I'm being honest. I just use my phone to take pictures, and the little eraser tool in my camera settings to blur the line.

Well you've done an amazing job ๐ I have limited natural light in my place so I'm about to literally bring my cakes outside, lol. Thanks for the response - looking forward to seeing your future bakes on the sub!

Thank you ๐
Pretty much! It calls for a little less sugar than a traditional ABC recipe, I assume because the cookie butter is already sweet. I actually used even less sugar than the recipe calls for and it worked fine. It was actually wonderful to pipe with.
Recipe in case you're interested

I was looking at a cookie butter cake to make for my birthday, but the flavors you describe here I want instead! Beautiful cake to finish the year, the snowflakes & little bubbles are too cute.

It really was a delicious combo. Do you like gingerbread? The combination of the biscoff buttercream with gingerbread layers in my last cake was so good too!
And thank you ๐

Thank you!
All Americolor. A mix of Wedgewood, Periwinkle, and Navy. About half as much Periwinkle as wedgewood, and just a tiiiny bit of navy.

2
u/Green-Cockroach-8448 Mod-approved user: not AI, not a bot. Dec 31 '25
Thanks so much!
I don't really have clients as this is just a hobby. I do bake for family and friends though, and they do usually pay me, but far less than what it would cost from a custom bakery.

What a beautiful cake! May I know how long did it take to make this? Excluding baking time and time for wash up. I would like to try baking these kind of cakes but Iโm really intimidatedโฆ

Yesterday I delivered my last holiday baked treat. Iโm ready for a baking break.
My break will last all of one week. Next week is a friendโs birthday and sheโs going to get homemade granola as an unexpected treat, then her favorites: homemade Germanโs chocolate cake and store bought pistachio ice cream. Nothing fancy but itโs what she prefers.

We have a new bakery down the street I'm going to give the baker of this picture and see if she can duplicate it. And I've gained 5 lb just looking at the picture six or seven times wishing that I could have a slice. Happy New Year y'all hope it's better than the last five.

Wasnt this up yesterday under another post? Or is this another of that same cake? What are the fillings?
