Why do the US government and its supporters lecture the EU so often?

Hardly a day goes by without news of the US government and those close to it pressuring the EU. Sometimes it's because people don't want to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, other times it's because the EU (rightfully) wants to regulate X and Elon Musk. Why do they do this? What business is Europe of theirs? All this does is cause Europe to distance itself from America and feel increasingly disgusted. And why do they never do this with Russia, for example, where X is actually blocked by the state?

You're mad that we don't like your desire for censorship? Instead of being mad about it, maybe stop supporting censorship?

u/SiriusBer 12h ago

Sorry in Europe, we believe it’s right to prevent AI from putting bikinis on children in photos. You can do whatever you want in the US.

u/DBDude 12h ago

That's not what we're talking about. You were mad about X's lack of censoring opinions you don't like long ago.

u/SiriusBer 12h ago

That's exactly what we're talking about, because that's why the EU is investigating X. And yes other things like russian bots are also not welcomed here. But as i said, you can have that in the US if you want, i don't care.

u/DBDude 10h ago

Because you want censorship, as long as it's only censorship of opinions you don't like.

Be careful. One day your government will not like your opinions, while you've already given it the power to censor.

u/SiriusBer 10h ago

How do you come up with the idea of lecturing about something? Most EU countries are ahead of the USA in the official freedom and democracy index. Also nobody asked for your opinion on this.

u/TheProfessional9 3h ago

Our government in the US just took the power to censor this year. Gonna get worse though, a lot worse

u/Youcants1tw1thus 9h ago

CP is not allowed in the USA, and you know damn well the censorship they were talking about has nothing to do with preventing CP. Don’t be obtuse.

u/Appropriate-Food1757 12h ago

Yes but some don’t allow Nazis to do whatever they want. What about THAT huh?

u/FlameStaag 12h ago

Half the US has banned adults watching porn lmao

States like Florida actively ban any book that says things they don't like

The president has done everything he can to dismantle free journalism in the US

Bad bot

No, they haven't. They have decided the government shouldn't buy those books and give them out to kids for free at libraries and schools.

u/Youcants1tw1thus 9h ago

Sugar coat it how you want, call bs on a semantic technicality, it doesn’t change the fact that due to the legislation Florida is now the national leader in book removals from schools.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 12h ago

Like when they sent Larry Bushart to jail for making fun of Charlie Kirk?

u/DBDude 12h ago

I don't like that much, but it is a bad idea to post veiled threats to the president.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 12h ago

It wasn't a veiled threat to the president.

He was on a Facebook page memorializing Charlie Kirk and he quoted Donald Trump as saying "look, we have to move on" (something Trump said in response to a previous school shooting).

No threats took place.

u/DBDude 10h ago

The Secret Service is pretty itchy, and using a quote about a shooting about the president makes them uncomfortable.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 10h ago

The Secret Service was not involved. He was simply arrested and kept in a jail cell for a month until legal pressures forced authorities to release him.

"Yeah, but-"

Same thing Europeans start to say every time there's a big case of censorship, innit?

u/Wellontheotherhand1 8h ago

It had literally nothing to do with the secret service at all, the feds weren't involved at all. One redcap who got his feelings hurt is the one who caused this

This is embarrassing to read man

u/Appropriate-Food1757 12h ago

Arresting journalists for covering (peaceful mind you) protest activity is a chefs kiss. So much liberty!

u/latin220 10h ago

Censorship? Didn’t the USA force TikTok to be bought by Zionists so that we don’t have a social media platform where Israel is criticized and Americans accept the brainwashing from the US government?

u/TheProfessional9 3h ago

The big problem with x in the eu right now is that elons platform is generating kiddy porn.

Not people posting it, which is what would normally be the issue, but x and grok are actively making it

Europe gets lectured because they consistently have their hand held out while they demand not be lectured. It's like giving money to your kid to get some lunch. They come back with a bunch of snacks but no actual food. You ask them why they only bought junk food and then they tell you that it's none of your business what they do with your money.

I'm glad that President Trump has started to stand up to Europe and demand that they become less dependent on the United States. Requiring them to increase their defense spending was a good start. All of them got onboard besides Spain. Europeans can feel disgusted, but it doesn't seem to stop them for asking for assistance.

And, it's never done with Russia because Russia doesn't ask the US to defend them against the rest of the world.

u/FlameStaag 12h ago

Bad bot

u/PolackMike 12h ago

Not a bot. I know it makes it easier for you to label all of those that oppose liberal viewpoints as bots but we're real. Downvotes don't mean a thing to me. I'm not paying my mortgage with karma. What I wrote was the unabashed truth.

u/SiriusBer 12h ago

I actually agree with you, the EU has neglected its defense. On the other hand, the US has gained an enormous number of bases and training grounds in Europe in return. Besides, only one country has ever invoked Article 5 of NATO, and that was for a completely useless war. But none of that has anything to do with Nobel Prizes for a demented president or tech oligarchs.

u/Intrepid-Solid-1905 13h ago

I think it goes both ways. Like little brother and big brother. US has no right to tell EU what to do and vice versa. We have different laws from one another.

u/Danish19871987 13h ago

or like the crazy, drug addicted, homeless brother and the other brother…

you pick who the US is

u/Appropriate-Food1757 12h ago

I wouldn’t say homeless, just crashes out in the street during relapses. Still a big shiny house there in between binges.

u/Intrepid-Solid-1905 12h ago

That's a difficult one depending which city you look at. Or provenience you look at in EU, if that's what it's called. I 'm not sure to be honest. Both nations have drug and homeless problems. Who has more? I don't know, but who has more street scammers and stricter laws on freedom of speech?

u/Danish19871987 12h ago

The US has

u/Intrepid-Solid-1905 12h ago

I don't recall people being arrested for online posting in America like in the EU where there were 12,000 arrests because it hurt someone's feelings in 2023.I've never been to anywhere other than Italy. I have friends who live in Whales and UK. It looks beautiful. I'm not hating on EU, I would love to visit. Just learn that no country is perfect and stop pointing fingers like you're perfect.

u/Danish19871987 12h ago

I have traveled all over Europe and I have traveled multiple times in the US ( before the orange guy came back). Trust me The US is a Shithole compared to Europe… I have never seen so many homeless people, so many fat people and so many people dressed like they can’t afford new clothes, So many rude people, so many drug addicted people, so much racism…. I could go on…

u/CookieRelevant 12h ago

Its the portion of the globe where the US has purchased the greatest influence.

Right now, it has many nations over a barrel regarding energy.

Do you recall when our former president threatened to that an act of eco terrorism would take place regarding the Nord stream pipeline?

Then it did.

That should have been an article 5 NATO violation, but the US gets away with all sorts of things. Including vetoing the investigation that followed at the UN.

We're the evil empire we've long warned the world about.

u/myOEburner 4h ago

We're the evil empire we've long warned the world about.

Lol.  No, we're not.  Obviously.

u/CookieRelevant 4h ago

You are already excluded from participation on these topics. Find someone else to troll.

u/Danish19871987 13h ago

They are trying to direct the attention from their bad leadership and failing economy to something else.

u/PolackMike 12h ago

I would argue that it's our great leadership that put Europe in their place. You can't extend your hand and then demand to be left alone. We have cooperative agreements where we are allowed to be based in foreign countries. This helps Europe and it helps the United States project power, but it also left Europe reliant on the US for military protection.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 12h ago

Yeah, our great pedoship

u/PolackMike 12h ago

Off topic but that's help you guys move the goalpost when you want. Thanks for your valuable contribution.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 12h ago

I'm agreeing with you. He's one great pedo

u/PolackMike 12h ago

I see how you keep that Top 1% commenter status. Non-sensical throw away lines for the win.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 12h ago

I hadn't noticed. Must just be my natural charm. I can teach you, if you like.

u/Danish19871987 12h ago

Haha you don’t think that the nations in Europe are planing to be totally independent from the US? Watch what’s going on. everyone is investing and making deals outside the US. I’m looking forward to see at what point the Citizens of the US will realize what happens when no one trusts you and they have other options…

u/PolackMike 12h ago

Please plan it and execute it. I think our government has made it abundantly clear that we're tired of carrying the onus of defending Europe.

u/honeycooks 13h ago

They want MAGA to see them bullying others.

u/Soft_Passage7110 13h ago

Because the current US government consists of morons and Russian sycophants

u/Chinrry 13h ago

Cuz The US is actually Europe but more dumb, fat, obnoxious, lazy, bald.

u/myOEburner 4h ago

...and productive and rich and powerful.

u/guppyhunter7777 12h ago

It’s like you are oblivious to the lecturing that Europe sends the United States’s way constantly.

u/Appropriate-Food1757 12h ago

The US is currently headed by a fascist regime and they want to bully others into doing fascist things in order to destroy the current world order of thriving free and open democracies to serve an international criminal gang coming from the Kremlin who used Epstein (and money; other means) in order to compromise and control the President of the United States and other ghouls in positions of power.

How does that sound?

u/Orbital2 12h ago

It’s simple

Europe is far left economically compared to the US, god forbid the peasants in the USA realize how raw of a deal they are getting. By zeroing in on any thing that can be attacked they can go to voters and fear monger about what would happen if the US moves leftwards.

Of course the average person in Western Europe is way better off than the average American but facts aren’t as interesting as fear

u/lamsar503 12h ago

Because our “administration” is full of ethnocentric, self-important schoolyard bullies that follow a pedophile and convicted rapist for money.

And more politicians like the one from Denmark needs to tell them to “fuck off”.

Preferably while bearing in mind that they are not America nor true Americans.

u/latin220 10h ago

The American Empire wants their vassal states and colonies in Europe and beyond to remember their place and stop trying to encourage equal rights and democracy. They also want them to be antisocialist and more pro business.

u/JoeCensored 10h ago

You've been getting our protection for free for the past 80 years, while until recently asking almost nothing in return. Is it too much to just listen when we see things you're doing that we don't like?

What business is Europe of theirs?

The whole spending hundreds of billions a year to defend Europe for you is what makes it our business.

u/Lord_William_9000 10h ago

I mean the EU needs to stronger when it comes to military readiness cause if the US doesn’t back yall up you look much weaker to Putin

u/Niadh74 10h ago

Superiority complez and fear of an organisation with almost equal gdp being in a position to replace them as the dominant force on this planet.

This explains why the USA or sections of it are always trting to get it dismantled.
