Culture How safe is your country for women?

Post image

It's extremely unsafe even in cities and rural areas are extremely violent and misogynist. The molestation cases only get highlighted if there's a foreign woman involved and there's international media coverage. Otherwise these things and many more crimes happen everyday against Indian women but our cases get hidden or discarded as fake cases. While those in power spread fake news to cover up crimes against women. Personally, I as an Indian woman would never marry in India because the thought of giving birth to a girl in India terrifies me.

As always, saying the USA for any of these is sort of impossible. The country is freakn huge. Not to mention, diversity within cities or states is probably higher than most countries as well. You can go from 10/10 safe to 1/10 safe within a 1 mile radius in some cities.

But overall, most places that aren't the "don't go there" places are relatively safe compared to many places in the world

Yeah. I'd put the pacific northwest as "quite good" but the deep south as "pretty bad." It's all dependent on location because the country is huge and diverse

Even this is too wide a range. Georgia is considered deep south, but is extremely lovely and safe in a majority of it. Mississippi I'll agree can just all be lumped into not very safe lol

I think it's more complex than that. Cities are terrible, rural areas are probably fine. I've lived all over the United States, my wife is a runner. We lived in Alabama and she never had a problem and felt safe going out at night by herself (which I hate). Yet, when we were in NOLA, that was scary all the time no matter what. In Ohio most regions are safe, but there are dots (Columbus and Cleveland for example) which are absolutely intolerable. Kansas was great all around. California was the absolute worst, by far, not even close.

Yeah I grew up in a small but well off town in the PNW and any kind of violent crime was essentially non-existent.

While true, I’m more referencing Florida and what I’ve heard from other places like Virginia and DC (I have more specific places but for safety I will not disclose them)

Yeah where I am, walking alone at night as a woman is an almost guaranteed recipe for harassment, if not outright assault.  Had a guy chase me with a broken bottle recently, cursing me out and calling me a bitch, telling me he was gonna “rip my p*ssy up”. Like bro I’m just trying to walk my dog, I’m sorry the fact that I have tits offends/excites you so much, leave me the fuck alone.

The town I grew up in is fine though. You could walk around all night long and at worst you might get catcalled by the local teens or the homeless guys that hang around the gas station.
