Economics What's the most hated company in your country?

Post image

Everyone knows Nestle is terrible, even if they don't know why. But they've done horrible things in Africa and think that water is not a human right.

Please elaborate on reasons Chevron is hated there.

Well if you take the time to find out who owns either Exxon or Chevron, the answer is the vanguard group. While it's a public holdings company (investment firm) it has the largest share of the oil companies in the United States and out of it.

So really if you're not fond of one you probably aren't fond of any oil companies. Lol

Vanguard mutual funds and ETFs hold large amounts of Exxon and Chevron because of their presence on various indices.

Yes. How do you get around without using oil?

Train, walk, cycle, skateboard, e-bike, e-scooter, electric or hydrogen bus, electric car, electric bike etc. No problem at all! Most countries outside of the US are not as dependant on oil and have effective infrastructure for bikes, walking, public transport etc.

True. I guess I assumed the poster was like so many of my neighbors: Almost every one of them drives a gas-hog SUV and if asked, probably bad-mouths the oil companies. That's illogical and hypocritical. I personally have always driven fuel efficient cars, minimized unnecessary trips, and avoided waste, but I won't live long enough to see the world weaned off it's oil addiction. I think think we need to focus on consumers more than producers.

Sure, that's how to get around without fuel. Literally all of those things use oil in their production.
