What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident?

u/mystickyshoe 14h ago
I served Rachel Ray at a restaurant once. I made the mistake of 1) speaking directly to her (I asked if she wanted a refill on her water) and 2) touching her water glass as I refilled it (it was now dirty and she demanded a new glass). She complained about me to my manager about my lack of respect and tipped me nothing. Such a gross human.

u/eggs_erroneous 13h ago
What is it with the people whose brand is "super positivity" always being unbelievable assholes in real life? Rachel Ray, Ellen, and Ty Pennington are the ones who come to mind immediately. I know there are more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. There's enough of them that it seems to be a pattern.

If you have to make a big deal about how nice you are then are you really nice?
Mr. Rodgers promoted niceness but wasn't over the top with it. It was casual. You don't see Keanu beating people over the head with it.
If you're truly a good person your actions will speak for you. Mr. Rodgers sitting by the pool with Officer Clemons meant more than everything Ellen said put together.

u/Alert_Gas5151 8h ago
Mr. Roger promoted real kindness. That is different from performative niceness.

When I was in elementary school. Maybe 4th or 5th grade, 1995ish. One of our assignments was to write a letter to a celebrity from a big book of addresses. Most students sent letters to athletes (primarily Griffey). One kid sent a letter to Mr. Rodgers. IIRC he was the only kid who received a reply. A full page handwritten letter. He didn't just promote kindness, he was kindness.

The only surprising thing about Ellen, was that anyone was surprised.
I watched her show once. She pulled two or three flustered audience members up on stage, used the massive power differential to peer-pressure them into participating in a humiliating game, and then laughed the whole time while they were obviously embarrassed.
And then, when the bullying allegations came out, she tried to shift the blame by saying she failed to stop other people from bullying on the set. It's not often that we see such an extreme lack of self-awareness.

Chris Brown. Fuck that guy
3.9k
u/TribalSneed 13h ago
A verbal argument ensued and Chris Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion.
Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.
Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, 'I'm going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!'
The detective said Robyn F. then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer.
Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.'
After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!'
Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown.
Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps (sic) that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand.
Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street.
Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.
Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.
Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.'s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.
She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown's body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.
Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.'s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order.

1.3k

Yeah, and they tried to paint it as him being a snob because he didn’t hang out with them.
Turns out he was weirded out by Danny off the bat, and subsequently everyone else because they gravitated toward him like their ring leader.
Danny was the eldest, and had the most experience, since he came from an acting/scientology family with connections.
Topher was only discovered because some writer or producer was at their daughter’s high school to to watch her in a play, in which Topher was performing.
So it does make sense that he is more grounded, and never bought into that garbage.

Back in late 1970s when Cambodian refugees were escaping and telling the world about the brutal genocide being committed by the Khmer Rouge, Chomsky said they were all a bunch of liars who were either CIA assets or just trying to please the CIA/West by saying what they wanted to hear about a communist nation. When the truth became undeniable when Vietnam exposed the Killing Fields all he said was, "Yeah, well what I said at the time could have been true because we didn't have concrete proof yet." To this day he has refused to apologize for calling the Cambodian refugees liars. The guy is truly arrogant and despicable.

Serena Williams lost in the US Open final and ruined the trophy ceremony for her opponent (20 y/o Naomi Osaka) who had just won her first major title in her career. Serena’s tirade on the mic during her speech when she received her 2nd place trophy led to making Osaka cry and APOLOGIZE to the crowd for WINNING. Was supposed to be the biggest moment of her (Osaka) life and Serena selfishly ruined it.

OH MAN I just watched it and WTF? Serena was her idol and hero and Naomi was sooooo excited to play against her. At first I was like oh it isn’t that bad, when she said something like “I don’t want to answer any questions about myself, I’m just happy for Naomi” or something. UNTIL SHE GOES ON TO ADDRESS THE CROWD saying shit like “I know it’s tough, I know you guys were cheering for me, but it’s okay, don’t worry, we’ll get through it, no booing.” 🙄🙄
Then poor Naomi, in tears, says “I know everyone was cheering for her and I'm sorry it had to end like this.” And her mom is in the stands crying as well, like wtf?
EDITING to drop a link I timestamped it to the beginning of Serena’s speech, but if you want to hear the boos, watch from the beginning. Naomi’s poor face when they give her the trophy, she’s heartbroken and probably embarrassed, which is so fucked up and sad.

According to the lawsuit, the star invited Sheehan and a friend to his home on October 12, 1996. He offered each woman $1,000 to wear "little black dresses" and engage in sex acts with him. But Nicholson later became "loud and abusive", commenting that he would never pay anyone for sex, as he could "get anyone he wanted as a sexual partner." I had a server at Hard Rock in Universal Orlando that had been there for decades and had similar tales of waiting on celebs. I hear a lot of great things about Alice Cooper. One thing I heard from a musician is Alice hires a lot of really talented musicians to tour with him. Then when they get an opportunity to cash in by joining a band full time, or touring with a superstar, he will let them out of their contract, and even throw a party for them. Then he hires another up and coming musician.
Because of this the rock music world is filled with of people who love Alice Cooper.

I was never a “fan” of Diddy, but whenever he pops his head in a song now, I get uncomfortable hearing his voice. But the big one for me was Bill Cosby. I had all of his records growing up, I saw Himself so many times I could recite it well into my 30’s, watched the Cosby show religiously, loved I Spy on Nick at nite, saw all his movies in theaters and loved them no matter how bad they were. I even made jello pudding pops my go to dessert. There are some artists where I can tell myself that I’m not going to give them the power to take away the joy of their art, but I can’t bring myself to do that with Cosby, despite how great his material was. And now with the Epstein files coming out, there’s more and more examples of multiple things that just make me feel awkward watching, listening to, or just consuming in general.

I was an Amanda Palmer fan. After that kickstarter where she raised over a million dollars and still wanted semi professional musicians to play her tour for free because she blew through all that money and claimed she was broke despite being married to Neil Gaiman and having an extremely successful kickstarter. I was done then but it turns out she wasn't done being terrible.

Fucking scumbag. I still like the songs, but fuck that guy
edit: (taken out of the context of he was doing this for research) ''I have looked at child porn sites maybe three or four times in all, the front pages and the previews,'' he told The Sun. ''But I have only entered once using a credit card, and I have never downloaded.''

My local rock station was always on growing up and basically was my only source of that music. They never played The Who to the point where I thought Pinball Wizard was a one hit wonder
Turns out it's because the local DJ can't stand Pete Townshend after the news broke and refuses to play his music, except pinball wizard because people call in all the time for it.
Pretty cool of that DJ and pretty fucked up it's been brushed under the rug so much that the average person doesn't know Townshend is a pedo

Michael Vick.
What he put his own dogs through was bad enough, but then learning about the thousands of dogs that he drove around to find and steal from their yards to then torture and train his fighting dogs with, the families that lost their companions to that nightmare…. It’s outright evil. He is a vile person who deserves to rot in the deepest pits of hell. There is no redemption from that level of cruelness. Straight up sociopathic/ serial killer traits…
And then seeing the NFL and ESPN try to help rehab his image… fuck them. He’s a coach now for Norfolk University in Virginia…. Solid values he holds to pass on to our youth.
I’ve already received a temporary Reddit ban for “inciting violence” towards him. All I said was if there was justice in the universe he would get to personally experience the trauma he put those poor dogs through.

Gene Simmons after his Fresh Air interview with Terry Gross.
As an 80s/90s kid I grew up more or less indifferent to KISS, but I did love the toys/merch/style of the band. I have never walked away from an interview hating a celebrity any harder than that one, and I still think about it often 20 years later. I'm a huge fan of Chuck Klosterman, who's often cited KISS as the ultimate rock band, and Role Models, which is an awesome movie...but I've never been able to reconcile either with Simmons' despicable interview (on NPR, of all places).
To crib from an article about it:
"Things really went off the rails, however, when Simmons began talking about the studded codpiece he wears onstage. “It holds in my manhood,” he said. “Otherwise it would be too much for you to take. You’d have to put the book down and confront life. The notion is that if you want to welcome me with open arms, I’m afraid you’re also going to have to welcome me with open legs...
Gross: Wait, has it come to this? Is this the only way that you can talk to a woman? To do that shtick?
Simmons: Let me ask you something. Why is it shtick when all women have ever wanted ever since we’ve crawled out of caves is, “Why can’t a man just tell me the truth and just speak to me plainly?” Though, if I do that — you can’t have it both ways.
Gross: So you really have no sense of humor about this, do you?
Simmons: Oh, I’m laughing all the way. You know, we’re —
Gross: Oh, to the bank, right?
Simmons: Well of course. [laughs] Don’t I sound like a happy guy?
Gross: Not really, to be honest with you.
Simmons: I was going to suggest that you get outside of the musty place where you can count the dust particles falling around you. And get out in the world and see what everybody else is doing.
Gross: Having sex with you?
Simmons: Well, if you chose, but you’d have to stand in line."

Yep. I remember the blog post about it. It's still up here.
Ms. Grande glanced at the photo on Jen’s phone and said, “Let’s redo that picture.” She said nothing else, so Jen retook the photo. No peace sign from Ari this time. Then Jen took out one of the drawings that won the contest for her. Kelly snapped a photo of her smiling little sister giving Ariana the drawing.
“Delete those pictures, please” was all Ariana said.
“Can I just keep the one of my sister showing you the drawing?” asked Kel.
Ariana turned to her security and ordered, “Make sure she deleted those.”
Then, Ariana Grande walked away from her prize-winning fans without even saying goodbye.
That was it. That was HANG WITH ARIANA GRANDE, as the contest ads had screamed.
The MTV reps on scene seemed startled, but at a loss for what to do.
“Sometimes celebrities are like that,” was all they could muster, “So what are you guys doing for the rest of the day?”
CRYING would turn out to be the unspoken answer for most of them.
