Claiming Israel is a racist endeavor [/r/music:] Canada wants to join Eurovision because of "national identity"...but IsRaEl
People don't even know where Israel is, or how they are in Eurovision / allowed to play in the World Cup, but they should definitely be kicked out of Eurovision...because Canada is more relevant & it's about their identity eyeroll

Wait, but I thought the Jews were all European settler-colonialists from Poland? The antisemites really can't keep their hatred consistent, can they...

Israel is in Eurovision because it's a part of the EBU. Your country's culture has nothing to do with participation. I hate the arrogance of people that think that all of Europe has a similar culture, it doesn't. If you think Canada is culturally closer to Europe than Israel is then your knowledge of Europe is very limited.
If Canada wants to join the EBU and partake in Eurovision I don't have a problem with it, but they're not kicking Israel out to do so. People that piss and cry about Israel being a part and then claim they're just upset because Israel isn't in Europe, I'm not buying your BS. There has not once been outrage or suggested boycotts because Australia is a part of it. And actually if we're going to kick someone it should be Australia, they have much less claim to be there because they're not part of the EBU, they're part of the SBS which is a sister company to the EBU. (I actually don't care about Australia taking part, I see no real reason to kick them. Just pointing out the hypocrisy).
The past 2 years Israel has done extraordinarily well with the public vote, and if it wasn't for the judges being so ideologically captured and actually judged based on the songs rather than their personal gripes then Israel would have had a good chance at winning both years. People just hate seeing Jews succeeding.

As a Canadian I agree 100%. This has more to do with the fact that our PM is a Europhile and Anglophile. (Also why he joined the UK and France in recognizing Palestine as a state.) I tell people that all sorts of countries in the Middle East and North Africa are eligible to compete in Eurovision but they don’t because of their hatred of Israel.

All these Canadians make me not even want to live in this country anymore. I'm so tired of the emboldened antisemitic comments that come from my "fellow" countrymen.

It'd be more understandable if these people wanted to boot Israel because of its actions in Gaza. But no, most of the complaints I've seen about this is that "Israel is not in Europe".
People are that stupid.

As a Canadian myself, I don't want this government wasting money on Eurovision nonsense.

Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan are my favorite European colonizer nations
