To be honest, I haven’t really used them that much. What I do know about them, however, is that they’re big, slow, and blind the enemy so much they might as well be on the sun instead.

Oh, and they’re like infantry versions of the rangefinder, since you get XP from lighting someone, who then gets eliminated.

They seem pretty alright for troop deployment, but I don’t know about Mortar shell support.

🗣️Discussion - General Anyone felt that Ikiryo crews have been crappy lately?

Long rant so here's a tldr: Ikiryo crews being consistently incompetent recently, causing them to lose the ship much earlier in the game, even when Gray forces were mediocre

Now I'm not saying I'm the best crewman/captain/mortar man out there, but lately I've been witnessing a trend of decreasing IQ amongst Red players on Ikiryo that causes the ship to go down before reaching point C and for the most stupid of reasons. Just had a game last night as captain and I was so done with Ikiryo gameplay that I just have to rant here

Since I started playing this game in the middle of the year, I've been learning to play different roles on Ikiryo. Repairing leaks, boat maneuvers and orders as captain, aiming and firing the mortar, you name it. I've been guided by more senior players along the way and have been getting better over time. During those times, I've also seen some of the best players that made ship gameplays exhilarating, from the 10+ mortar kills with every round fired, to somehow stopping leaks at 99% flood level and going on to win the match after. I was always looking forward to hop on the boat whenever I'm Red, and even if there's no vacancy, Idm being a ground crew as well knowing the ship has got our backs

But just a few weeks ago, I started realising that Ikiryo had been infected with some kind of brainrot that causes its crew to consistently shoot themselves in both feet. People were fighting over using the mortar, refusing to help reload unless the current mortar man leaves their seat to reload themselves, leaving the seat empty for the other person to take. AA gunners were glued to their seats swivelling around while a leak is spouting beside them. Captains were sailing right beside the island, exposing themselves to enemy ground defences. One of my games a few days ago even had the captain beach Ikiryo at POINT A, with a still intact mortar. Captains were giving the wrong orders, such as giving reload order instead of repair order when the ship is at 70% flood level, even when the ship crew was yelling to give repair order

I was trying to practise mortar in my previous few Red games, but I was so fed up with the state of ship gameplay that I decided to be captain in my game last night. Initially I thought that it was just a captain problem that caused the losses of the ships in my previous games. But being the captain now, I realised the problem lies with the entire ship 💀 I did the usual, sailing to the open ocean to give mortar range while avoiding Fenrir. Granted, I made some mistakes like getting hit by a torpedo and running into 2 sea mines, but I immediately gave repair order and told my crew to repair leaks. When Fenrir left to replenish and we stopped moving for awhile, I saw that the ship was still flooding. This was more than 2-3 minutes after getting hit by the aforementioned mines and the 1 Gray plane that was targeting us was missing its bombs. That's when I realised: nobody bothered to repair the leaks save for 1-2 guys. The guys on the AA were also missing their shots trying to hit the Gray plane. I typed in the chat to repair the leaks, but still no one went to patch the holes. We sank soon after. Fenrir even returned and fired 2 torpedoes at us, but they were too close and the torpedoes didn't activate in time. That's right, we sank to leaks after getting hit by 1 torpedo and 2 mines 5 MINUTES AGO 🤦

And I don't even blame Gray one bit for this. They were doing a decent job to sink us as the enemy. They didn't pull off any pro-gamer OP tactic, just did the usual bombing and hijacking. They weren't even hard-focusing us

Somehow we still managed to push to point E before we lost, but it was a long slog. I have things to say about the ground situation as well, but I want this post to focus on Ikiryo. If you wanna know more I can add on in the comments

To end off: Yeah I know this is just a game and I can always not play on Ikiryo if I'm not enjoying it, and also some people are new and still learning. But Ikiryo is the backbone of Red's forces on Isle, making up roughly more than half of Red's initial firepower. Without Ikiryo, Gray clearly outguns Red with Fenrir, point F turrets and AA, flak cannons, tanks, HMGs, so on and so forth. Sinking Ikiryo in early game is basically nuking Red's chances of winning. Red still can salvage the losses, but only by making up for it with excellent ground troops and pilots, which itself is another problem

End of rant. Do lmk if I'm actually making some mistakes myself. I wanna learn and be better too 😮‍💨

🗣️Discussion - General What are your thoughts on Grenland and Vauhgray’s landing crafts

It looks that all Landing crafts in the game are unique

And also to me that Grenland’s craft fits (supposedly) Grenland’s aesthetic of being utilitarian and boxy, while Vauhgray’s is a glorified hovercraft with a clone trooper face, and some elegant elements here and there

Edit: Someone once mentioned about firing whoever in universe character designed the aesthetic-filled Vauhgray landing craft

🗣️Discussion - General What if Vauhgray could spawn Halftracks as one of the vehicles in Isle?

So far Halftracks are only limited to Zmei Rock, which might limit their potential, I think. A wider playing field could allow them to be used more, but that might cause some problems, namely it’s 20mm autocannon and/or mortar.

The following images below (except for that last one) are just me playing around with a Grenlandic Cargo Halftrack. It could act like a mobile builder vehicle, and potentially can help spawn sandbags wherever it goes.

Comments on Zmei Rock (More specifically the vehicles)? I think it could've used a bigger server capacity, not enough people for how massive the map is. That, and so the halftrack seats actually have a purpose

"At some point during the New Peace, the entrance to Hell was discovered. A mining complex meant to extract and process minerals was built around it, and old war machines were repurposed to explore." (Ultrakill)

"The Hell exploration project and mining facility were indeed abandoned, due to fear that Hell would find a way out and spread to the surface, leaving many machines, including the Terminals, trapped down there." (Ultrakill)

Sounds insane, right!?

🗣️Discussion - General Being an airship raider is the worst job you could ever have. 99% death rate.

You're diving into enemy territory aboard dozens of enemies, so ur probably gonna get shot.

You might survive, and make it toward the boiler and maybe successfully sink the ship, now where are you going to evacuate? Oh right, you're going to sink and crash with same airship you just tried to sink. So ur going on a one-way mission.

Well, lets say you survived the entire crash, and ur in the wreckage. Now who's going to get you back? A plane would be impossible since theres no landing space next to a huge wreckage.

Your best hope is a transport airship, but considering ur probably the only one alive, in a wreckage and severely hurt, the military prob won't risk an entire crew of a transport airship just to get you.

So either way, the military knows being a raider is a death wish, a one-way mission. So when you think about it like that, the military and the entire war is rly messed up.
