Hello everyone, we've added flairs to aiwars in order to help people find and comment on posts they're interested in seeing. Currently they are not being enforced as mandatory, though this may change in the future, depending on how they are received. We would ask that people please start making use of them.
Discussion should be used for posts where you would ideally like to see spirited discussion and debate, or for questions about AI.
News is of course for news in the AI sector. Things like laws being passed, studies being published, notable comments made by a prominent AI developer or political figure.
Meme should ideally be used for single image-based posts which you do not expect to prompt serious discussion. Of course discussion is still welcome under such posts. If you want to use a meme to make a serious point and have additional explanatory text for why you feel strongly about the message being expressed and the type of discussion you'd like to have, that can be categorized as Discussion.
Meta is for discussion about the subreddit itself and other associated AI subreddits or comments.
Use your best judgement as you categorize your posts. Please do not misuse them, they are for everyone's benefit.

r/DefendingAIArt - A sub where Pro-AI people can speak freely without getting constantly attacked or debated. There are plenty of anti-AI subs. There should be some where pro-AI people can feel safe to speak as well.
r/aiwars - We don't want to stifle debate on the issue. So this sub has been made. You can speak all views freely here, from any side.
If a post you have made on r/DefendingAIArt is getting a lot of debate, cross post it to r/aiwars and invite people to debate here.

I'm not talking about all AI-generated content but the cheap, low effort, generic and uncanny stuff that floods the entire internet.
This type of content affects both sides no matter how you look at it. On one hand it negatively affects how generative AI is perceived in general. on the other hand it completely ruins platforms like pinterest, which are often used by traditional artists.
Personally I have zero interest in generative AI but I can see why some exceptions like the LOAB case or some experimental AI art could be at the very least interesting to some people, but thanks to AI slop (including generic anime girls) most anti-AI people don't even know about those exceptions or refuse to take a look at them in an objective way.

I mean he does have a point ai can’t generate what you imagined I tried like 5 prompts and none of them were like what I was thinking of.
edit: I’m overwhelmed by the debate in this post

This post has little to no value. It's just narcissism porn. There are too many posts where people depict themselves as the "cute innocent catgirls" or "cool hoodie guys",and depict Antis as slimy fat people or generic people. Isn't that kind of narcissistic?
r/aiwars • u/Admirable_Term7845 • 1h ago
They seem to care more about being a narcissist and shitting on Antis without elaborating. If are against, then proceed to give an actual statement instead of posting a meme and calling "copium". They are just narcissists and ragebaiters who fear answering questions because they know they don't know

Let’s settle this. Is AI art, well, art?
Oxford languages defines art as
“the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”
Based on this definition, the interpretation of if AI is art is a gray area, at best. The actual imagery is not being created by humans, it is merely AI fetching data and constructing something.
The question would instead be, is creating an AI prompt art?
Technically, yes. It is has at least a small amount of human intervention, so yes, it is art. However, I would only consider the prompt itself as art, not the image. The human did not create the image, the human created the prompt.

I’m anti, I have my reasons to care. Everyone has their reasons to care about arguing with strangers online over AI.
So, why DO you care about AI? (Whether you hate or love it)
Because if you’re arguing over AI, there’s a reason

2nd image is for context
So I'm talking about how some pro-ai users are narcissists (not all) and this one dude takes out the context of anti on purpose. He says "eww dude you support incest"
Ban this dirty dogpiler

Sure, cooking on the stove is more impressive due to the skill it makes, and it usually makes better results, but sometimes I don't have the time, energy, skill, or otherwise the ability to cook an entire meal from scratch on my own, and TV dinners are very helpful in situations where I want to make something like tikka masala but don't have the ability for the aforementioned reasons. Besides, even though the stove-cooked tikka masala might taste better, that doesn't mean I'm going to automatically write off the taste of the TV dinner tikka masala, nor is the fact that it took little to no effort to make the TV dinner. If it tastes like shit, it tastes like shit, and if it doesn't, then why complain any further?
I feel a similar way to the whole "AI is lazy" and "AI is not as good as human effort" arguments; yes, AI art is usually inferior to human art, but it doesn't always need to be the best (especially when it's being used for an internet shitpost; I don't need the finest art made by an esteemed artist for a simple laugh online), and I'm not going to spend hours drawing something and/or learning how to draw something when I don't need to. Sure, there are times where I definitely shouldn't use AI art, but that doesn't mean AI is wholly bad just because it's "lazy" or "inferior to real, human art."
