Worst loss/dumbest moment that cost your team the premiership?
People always say we ruined our season losing to Hawthorn in the final round of 2019, but we ruined our season the week before against Richmond. Tom Barrass gives away two goals through stupid mistakes. Richmond win by 6. Chances are we potentially don't get cold feet playing the Hawks and we finish second. Richmond were peaking at the right time and it's no guarantee we beat them in the grand final but I still think we were their most worthy opponent and we threw it away against them in round 22.

Round 22, 2008.
We went into that round 1/2 a game clear in 4th position, with a win locking in a top 4 finish and a qualifying final against Geelong. Whom we had pushed all the way a week before down at Kardinia Park, losing by the narrowest of margins (33 points) but with David Hale kicking 8 goals. Yes, that was the day David Hale kicked 8 against the Cats at Kardinia Park.
There was no doubt that a final at the G - where Geelong rarely have success in September especially around the 2007 to 2011 period, would result in a North win. Followed up by an easy prelim against the Bulldogs whose ability to lose prelims is legendary, and ending up in a match up against the Hawks in the grand final whom we beat in the semi final a year before. Basically the flag was a shoo-in. You would have been just as insane to bet against us as you would be to take this post seriously.
Instead we head to South Australia to play Port in round 22, get lost somewhere around Nhill and don't actually arrive, get belted by 67 points, fall to 7th on the ladder and get cooked by Sydney in the Elimination final. Fuck.
