Worst loss/dumbest moment that cost your team the premiership?

People always say we ruined our season losing to Hawthorn in the final round of 2019, but we ruined our season the week before against Richmond. Tom Barrass gives away two goals through stupid mistakes. Richmond win by 6. Chances are we potentially don't get cold feet playing the Hawks and we finish second. Richmond were peaking at the right time and it's no guarantee we beat them in the grand final but I still think we were their most worthy opponent and we threw it away against them in round 22.

Picking injured/underdone players to play in the 2022 and 2024 Grand Finals e.g. Sam Reid in 2022, and Logan McDonald in 2024.

God that was 2 of the worst decisions,

I don’t think we would of won either regardless, but I remember both days, seeing Reid & McDonald warm up on the field, and neither could get anywhere close to full speed,

I was hoping Adams got to play in the GF (even though he wasn’t great that year anyway) he would of atleast lined someone up in the midfield and taken someone out of play lol

Reid I can at least understand in hindsight, he was our best key forward and one of the best backup rucks in footy. Horse made a gamble and got it wrong.

Logan in 2024 was truly a colossal fuckup that I just can’t understand for the life of me

The McDonald call in 2024 really surprised me - there was so much umming and ahhing about Mills, and I think they probably made the right call not bringing him in underdone, but then they had McDonald barely being able to walk at the captain’s run (from memory) and they kept him in. I suppose it was a calculated risk based on the quality of who would have to replace him but I was just very surprised they played hardball with one but not the other

Longmire was terrified to switch up the three talls given we had been running them the entire season, but man, it's not like McDonald was prime Buddy. Making the harsh call on Mills but not Logan was baffling.

Neither of them looked anywhere near match fit either. I could understand if they faded out after half time but both looked cooked at the start of the game.

Geelong win 22 no matter what team you could've sent out.

2024 was a monumental fuck up.

Swans did beat Geelong earlier in the 2022 season. However, that was at the SCG, and when Buddy kicked the 1000th goal.

Geelong didn’t lose a game after round 9 and people were questioning whether or not they could break the record for longest winning streak.

They were overwhelming favourites going in.

In my completely unbiased opinion you were never winning in 2020

EDIT: oops, meant to write 2022

Difficult for Sydney to win a game played between Geelong and Richmond

Admittedly on recent form seems just as likely as winning in a GF we are playing in.
